The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.

Dislikes

I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

Thapar's overview

Likes

The infrastructure of the campus is good. Also the mess food is very good.
Girls to boys ratio is also good. It may be about 40:60(girls:boys)
There are many fests both tech or non-tech. Also here are many societies in which we can be a part.

Dislikes

The most problematic thing is in timing. In timing for college is 8:00pm and for hostel it is 8:30pm.
75% attendence is also a problem as we don't get time for skill development.
Also the main auditorium is very small which can hold about 300- 400 students and the capacity of the students according to auditorium is large.

Placement Experience:

Placement percentage of the campus is good enough as compared to other private colleges. For internships all semester students are eligible and for placements it is for sem 7 and sem 8. There are many big companies such as google, black rock, apple and many more mnc's which come and give placement to students. Also it is possible that a student can get PPO during his/her internship. The highest package offered from campus in 2024 was 1.23 cr which was given by rubrik to 2 students. Also the avg. package is 12 lpa and the percentage of placement i am not sure but it may be 70%. After graduation i am thinking of getting placed from the campus only.

College has very nice faculty and very good infrastructure for classrooms
It has dedicated lab for every department and moreover all machines are in good working health
The practical knowledge is best in this college

Course Curriculum Overview:

Like in every semester you will have around 6-7 courses per semester which will enough for students to attend lectures for whole day They have each lecture class of 50 minutes and labs of 100 minutes per subject

Great infrastructure: everything is well maintained and functional
Great alumni network due to an old college and great reputation
Teachers are very helpful and supportive they try their best to teach unlike other engeneering colleges

Dislikes

Too many students a total of nearly 1500 students just in computer science and similar branches
Reservation for Punjab students due to which majority are Punjabi students
In time for college is too early that is 8 pm

Placement Experience:

Placements are improving year to year with an average of nearly 12 lakh the placements are decent here, more than 300 companies visit the campus including Google, Amazon, McKinsey, JP Morgan and many other big names. Most of the students gets placed. Highest goes upto 1 cr . Many students also opt for MBA program after completing their btech degree

Thapar! A lively campus!

Likes

The infrastructure is brilliant. The life in the campus after classes is decent enough.
The sports facilities, the enormous number of canteens and availability of every shop and salon inside the campus makes it easier. You dont have to go out for everything.
The faculty is nice, and helpful. i mean most of them. The timetables are flexible. Also, too many societies to join and so many cultural events take place. Amazing college!

Dislikes

The hostel in time is 8:30!! I get the campus in time being 8pm because they’re trying to protect the students, but hostels shouldn’t be closed this soon!

I'm currently in the second year, so not that familiar with the placement process. But the average package is 11-12 LPA. The students are eligible for internships in 5th semester and eligible for placements in 7th semester.

Campus is really pretty and around 250 acre in size .It has a good blend of sophisticated infrastructure and nature .
Faculties can be good or bad just depends on the individual . Though if students don't like a faculty then they can approach the authorities and report them the issue
Learning facilities are pretty good . Lot of high quality pieces with great devices as per the respective department .

Dislikes

The fee is not really affordable for a middle class family kid.
Semester is not even as per the span required for a semester . It just ends in 4 months .
Lot of placement stats are fake . COE has approx 1000 students , hardly 200 get placed at a good company.

In 2nd year you get the chance for internship and it just increases from third year onwards . On campus placements happen from 7th semester as per my knowledge . Companies that visit most often are JP Morgan Chase and co . , Amazon , Paytm etc. placement stats depend upon your branch . Like in COE there are approx . 1000 students , so only around 200 would get good placements . Branches in which no. Of students is less , placement stats are comparatively higher . Highest packages have even gone as far as 50 lakh . The lowest could go to 3-4 lakhs . My plans after getting the degree is to join a company as a full time software engineer.

I have decided that I if not get placement from this college I will go abroad to pursue my masters in this course and if I would get placed from this college I would work here for 2 years to gain some experience and then go to abroad for my masters

The infrastructure of our university is best.
The faculty of our university is very well educated

The library is not opened for 24 hours in our university

Placement Experience:

Almost 90 percent of the students get placed annually which took this course but the placement for other courses is less as compare to this course.After getting the degree i would go abroad to do my masters in this course.

Our university infrastructure is the best one in our state
Our university has best labs equipment including I-mac also

Dislikes

Our university campus in time is till 8:00 pm only. It should be increased
Our hostel timings should also be increased till 11:00 pm
The library should be open 24 hours . It should be operated whole day

Placement Experience:

In our university the students become eligible from the 4 semester for internship programs . The students can also apply for placement programs in the 6 semester. The highest packages had gone upto 34 lpa in 2022.

The college is located in the centre of Patiala city which makes it easily locatable and also near to all the markets which is really helpful for all the students to buy their necessities.
Other than the college 's location, A market named Cos is also located within the campus to fulfill all the student needs.
There is very much greenery within the campus and it really feels very much connected with nature.

Dislikes

Not much , but hostellers are not allowed any four or two wheelers, so daily step count is usually very high which is actually good for one's health but also on the other hand , very tiring.
Students are not allowed to enter their respective hostels after 8:30 pm which I personally think should be increased to 9 pm.
The G block and E block are not air conditioned despite being their oldest study areas.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is actually very nicely engaged for the EEC including equal portions of electrical and computer engineering. The exams timing is same for all the branches and teachers ' support is actually very nice to all the students

Thapar- the private institute

Likes

i feel that here the teaching staff is well educated and very professional
the infrastructure is very beautiful and well maintained
The campus place is very safe even for girls and here the rules are made sure that they are followed strictly

Dislikes

i believe that the Student intake in computer branch is high which can be a disadvantage in case of placement opportunities
here a lot of construction goes on all the time
hostel to classes distance is too much sometimes that we get late for classes

the campus placements are very good considering a private college, if you're focused on what you're doing then the college can provide you with great placement opportunities.big names such as Google ,apple ,microsoft,jp morgan and others visit the campus every year and the alumni network is so strong that it helps the students crack off campus placements as well

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
