The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.

Dislikes

I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

The campus location is very good with major cities like chandigarh situated at a distance of 2 hours only, the railway station and bus station are also located nearby. Various hangout spots and places are situated at walking distances.
The campus size is very large and the campus itself consist of a proper football ground,tennis court, cricket ground, indoor badminton courts, walking tracks etc. The campus also consist of an open air theatre.
The campus has a very strict attendance policy and detains at 75% for every branch. Regulary attending classes is a must for students

Dislikes

The fees structure is a bit expensive and many families are not able to afford them.
Patiala is a small city and outside the campus it is not safe for girls
Placement for biotechnology is not very convincing

Placement Experience:

The on campus placements for technical as well as non technicals jobs is pretty decent. Companies like JP Morgand And Chase, ZS, Barclays are some of the mass recruiters For biotechnology though there is very little placements for biotechnology core. Most of the graduates either go for higher education like mtech or MS or they go for jobs in technical feilds.

Thapar university overall experience and opportunities

Likes

Teachers were well informed and helpful and spent a lot of time teaching the subject matter
The management was well organised and really helpful
hostel facilities were of high quality and the stay was very convenient

Dislikes

Constant construction going on creates a pollution problem and it is advisable to leave with a mask
Food quality in bigger hostels suffer however in case of hostels like j, k or l food was really good.
Entry only available from the front gate which is sometimes inconvenient

Placement Experience:

According to the information available on NIRF rankings thapar had a median package of around 11.9 LPA with 334 companies like JP Morgan, Cisco, Zomato, Deloitte, IBM, etc. visiting the campus. The highest package offered was approximately of 55LPA

The infrastructure of the college is very good , all the lecture halls are fully air conditioned and brilliantly made.
The library is huge and has all kinds of books. It is really beautiful and has a very studious environment.
The campus is really green and you can see peacocks often.

Dislikes

A few teachers aren’t interested in teaching.
Things going on in lectures , labs and tutorials are all different at times.
People throw garbage anywhere in the campus.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for internships in 3rd year and for placements in 4th year. All bug companies like apple , Google, Microsoft, Amazon,zomato, etc come here. Highest package last year was ?1.2 cr and lowest ?6lpa. 96 percent students get placed. I plan on taking a job after my degree .

The campus area and the infrastructure. Too many things to do in campus area which Includes top notch sports facilities and good green areas to walk.
The course is designed to give more exposure to practical knowledge rather on theory.
The boys to girls ratio is very good. The hostels are pretty good.

Dislikes

Very basic mess food as they have a private company contract named sudexo.
The campus restricts you moving out of your hostel after 8:30pm
Too many guards in campus which makes you feel awkward

Placement Experience:

The placement for biotechnology is average around 8lpa and for Cs field it goes upto 14lpa average and many companies visit for interviews and some famous companies like microsoft good do come for placement

Course plan is well defined , good course learning outcomes, no elections , alcohol is strictly prohibited inside hostel premises
Good infrastructure throughout India , well maintained exams with no cheating , no ragging allowed , zero suicidal rate
Park nirwana is highly good to rome around with couples and friends , security for girls hostel is too good ,

Dislikes

As such no dislike .. only dislike is that fees is too high
Bathrooms are very dirty in several hostels and danger of mosquitoes bites
It is not affordable for low income family student

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is too good but their are various aspects in which it's not good . Like in 2ns sem manganol project in computer science is irrelevant. Only in one sem out of 1/2 there is c language and oops+DSA both in3rd sem

washrooms not good and the boys hostel of first year really need to be improved

Course Curriculum Overview:

really nice and relevant ciriculum subjects like proffessional communication get you industry ready and also a lot of enterprenurship opurtunities . the subjects like physics and chemistry are irrelevant to computer students so maybe consider removing them . exams are 2 times a semester called mst (mid sem test ) and end sem test on and average you will have 4-5 classes per day lying between 8:00 a.m to 5:10 p.m

University full of opportunities and choices that can give your career, the much needed boost

The first thing i liked about Thapar University was the friendliness of al the students on the campus, whether it be Seniors or faculty. Everyone is out there to help you whenever you need them.
The second thing I really like about my college is the safe environment especially for girls. Thapar has strict in-times, where you have to be in the hostel by 8:30 ore else you would get a call at your house. Also no delivery is allowed after 11 pm.
The third thing I like about the college is that big MNC's like amazon and google, come over to our college to select students for their jobs. Only a few handful make it through all the selection rounds but their life is Set once they get through

Dislikes

First thing I disliked is the attendance criteria, which is very strict here in Thapar. It feels like school wherein i have to fear not going to classes or else I would get detained and wouldn't be allowed to give my final exams(End semesters)
Second thing I dislike about this college is that, suppose a student is sick and he/she is unable to give the exam, they have to firstly get a signed document from a Doctor which is reasonable, but then also pay an extra fees or Rs2000.
And after all that documents and fees payment, the college still only awards you 60% of the total marks that you obtain. Say in a hypothetical situation a student got a 100 on their reset exam, they will only be awarded 60 marks.

Placement Experience:

You get eligible for placements from the start of the 7th semester. The placements from Thapar are amazing. Companies like Google, Amazon and Microsoft come to Thapar. The average package is around 12.1 LPA and the highest is 55.56 LPA. Around 82% of students are placed on campus. I plan to do a masters in my degree after college so I will probably prepare for the U.S

Large campus area.lush green campus with top notch infrastructure
So.many societies to join as per our interests
Alumini network is very strong.as the unit is very old

Dislikes

Fees is too high and hostel fees are extra ..
Around 1500 students in computer science department that's why tough competition

The campus life is good. regular events are held
the campus area is huge and lots of activities to do

Dislikes

the campus is not green. the roads are not clean.
many of the new hostels for freshers do not have AC.

Placement Experience:

the campus placements are great, top companies like Google and microsoft come for recruiting here. the averange package is around 14 lakhs and the median package is round 12lakhs. the percentage of students getting placed is also high

Environment is very friendly and very friendly seniors help in showing us path on how to achieve good cgpa
Entertainment available for students so that they don't take stress and become mentally strong
Faculty is very good and experienced always ready to help student in clearing their doubts

Dislikes

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
