Thapar

Thapar University has a name for itself and a prestigious reputation that it upholds. I applied to VIT but that was too far. I dint want to apply to Manipal since the type of student life there is, id stop studying fully. I dint want to apply to KIT. DU was a priority but since I didn't get a seat there, Thapar was my best option. Besides my cousin also studied at Thapar University. The admission was smooth. There is a whole society to guide you through the admission process from the moment you step into the college right to the doorstep of your hostel room. I was in VIT vellore CSE core for a month and a half. after I got admission in thapar in the spot round I shifted the college. there was one major reason which was the huge crowd at VIT vellore. there 1st year intake is approx 11k and out of them there are 6k+ only in the Compter field. in comparison to VIT vellore here are thapar the 1st year student intake is about 2-2.5k and in CSE there are 800+ students which is a lot but in comparison to VIT very less. the second reason for me to shift the college was the college brand name. I preferred this college as it is near my home so i dont have to suffer from long travel and secondly it is great college on behlaf of placement and ranking in overall universities . I chose this college over other colleges because it is in my home state and also i was not able to qualify jee advanced for my dream IIT. Also it is the best college i have heard from my friends and teachers in punjab. I also applied for SRMIST, VIT, MANIPAL and Symbiosis and i was getting Computer in all colleges except VIT, but i preferred Thapar after talking with my parents and the reviews. So i didn't got a rejection from colleges. The admission process is not so difficult. We have to fill a form online after which we get provisional admission letter and get to know which branch we have been alloted. I applied in BITS pilani and was getting a dual degree course there but I preferred thapar over bits pilani due to the fact that it has great infrastructure, was near to my home, and also has a great reputation. Furthermore I was getting directly my desired branch computer science and engineering here unlike in bits I had to opt for MSC in maths + btech in CSE which was also a bit difficult. Thapar institute of engineering and technology,Patiala is really very good in the terms of academics as well as sports as compared to other colleges in Punjab as well as North India ( not including government colleges ) . It's NIRF ranking as of 2024 is 29th and it really does not justify it's worth . It should definitely be in top 20 same as of 2023.
