- Campus Culture and Community- I enjoyed a well rounded campus life. It's a home away from home that fosters friendships and teamwork across disciplines.
- Alumni Network- Alumni support referrals ease the placement journey, especially for dilligent students. and talking about the ratio like the ratio is 1:1
- Hostel life- Many students appreciate the food quality and the rooms, as the rooms are so spacious and many facilities are given in the hostels. The major thiong that a student would love their is going and sitting with each other after 10.
Dislikes
- There's a notable absence of a stong student or formal student body, which leaves some students feeliing disconnected from decision- making.
- 75% attendance requirement, with very few exceptions allowed, limits flexibility.
- Food options sometime fell repetitive after a while.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is well structured and regularly updated to keep pace with industry trends. It balances theoretical knowledge with practical exposure through projects and internships. One reason I chose this course was the inclusion of industry relevant subjects, case studies, and opportunities for research. The curriculum prepare students well for real world application as well as higher studies by focusing on botyh fundamentals and advanced topics. There is scope to include more hands-on workshops, industry visits. Exams are conducted twice a semester- mid terms and end semester- along with quizzes, assignments, and presentations in between. Overall the curriculum is comprehensive and relevant for further career growth.
Internships Opportunities
Not that much but very few companies came for the internship. In my senioor Batch companies like Deloitte and PwC came for Internship but during my Batch 2023-25 these didn't acne and very few came for marketing profile only.
Placement Experience
Placement in the college are decent. Mostly students got placed for sales and marketing role. There are very few companies who came for Finance ,HR and Operations and other specializatins. So mostly at the end other specialix=zation students end up with getting a job role in slaes or marketing only.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee for the complete Course at Thapar School of Management for MBA program is approc=ximately 11- 12 lakhs, which includes tution fees, development fees, other charges but exxcluding Hostel fees, and mess fees. At the time of admission, I was awarded a 30% scholarship based on my merit. However the continuation and percentage of the scholarship depend on maintaining a certain CGPA each time. 1. CGPA above 9; 50% scholarship ( only for student who were awarded a scholarship at the time of admission are eligible for further scholarship) 2. CGPA 8.5 to 8.99; 30% scholarship 3. CGPA 8.0 to 8.49; 20% scholarship If the CGPA falls below 8.0, the scholarship is discontinued for the following academic year. The fee structure has remained fairly stable during my time, with no signigficant annual incerease.
Campus Life
Ovelall the campus is good. The place is so peacefull, full of greenery is the most attractive thing their. MBA course contains a subject called Sustainability in practice which helps students to focus o the social aspects of the society whether it can be related to cleanliness, education and many more. And now talking about the infrastructure is like its too spacious; Classrooms are furnished and have AC as well. and the rools are very well furnished and very spacious . so overall the experience is good.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility are amazing. As its fully clean, washing machines fully automatic as well as semi automatic machines are provided. Both AC as well as Non AC rooms are available. Mess food id decents with different food each and every time and with cleanliness. Students are allowed to use their own electic appliances like Iron, Kettle , etc in their own rooms which is the best part so there is no restriction for the appliances. The only restriction is that the student have to enter by 10 pm in the hostel.
Admission
I choose Thapar because of its strong academic reputation, consistent placement records, and well structured curriculum. The cmpus environment, modern infrastructure, and opportunities for research and extracurricular activities also influenced my decision. Compared to other Colleges Thapar offes a bellet balance between academics, practical exposure, and student life. The admission process was smooth and transparent. One key factor that stood out was Thapar's location and campus environment.
Faculty
The faculty- student ratio at Thapar is generally good, with most classes having around 60-70 students, ensuring that faculty can give individual attention when needed. Many professors are highly qualified, with PhDs from reputed institutions, and they maintain a professional yet approachable attitude. The best faculty members are those who focus on practical learning and link concepts to real life applications, which makes understanding easier. Some faculty members are strict with attendance and internal marks, which sometimes feel rigid. The marking scheme is fair overall but can vary depending on the professor- some are generous with internal marks, while others are quite strict. The course curriculum is regularly updated yo match industry requirements, with a good balance of theory and practical work. Most students are ble to clear exams with consistent study, through maintaining a high CGPA(above 8.5) requires extra efforts dur to competitive grading.
Interview Experience
Yes initially their is a test called TMAT, I appeared for that test after few days I got interviewed by 2 faculties as a part of admisiion process. The faculties taking interview are so good and supportive and if I was wrong somewhere they coorected me there only.
Night Life
Nighlife in the campus is like all the students have to move to their respective hostel at 10;00 pm. and after that students can go in each other rpoom for assignments , for chilling , for dancing, and for playing as well. All some games are provided like table tennis, Carrom Board, etc within the hostel.
