DTU M.Tech Complete Review

Carucullum is very top notch you get to learn top technologies like ML, DL, NLP, Advance OS, Advance DS etc.
Campus life is very vibrant and happening as here there is everyday something or the other is happening.
Top facilities of sports, gym, canteen, labs, fully ac classrooms, eating spots all over the camps.

Dislikes

A lot of crowd during fests when may ruin your experience sometimes as mostly people from DU comes here.
People promoting bad habbits everywhere you can find here also.
Irrespective of the top notch sports facilities people here are not interested that much in sports activities.

Placement Experience:

For M.Tech students our college allow 12 Month intern and companies will start visiting for this from the month of October itself and some companies also offer full time offer. These include companies like Striker, Siemens EDA, NXP Semiconductors, Intel etc. These companies generally offer stypend of around 40-60K and Symens EDA offered full time offer. At the end of the 2nd year almost 90% of the batch is placed and average is around 14 and median around 13.

A BALANCED JOURNEY : An honest review of DTU

Likes

DTU has diverse and vibrant campus life, Student community is energetic and there are numerous clubs societies and event which build a strong network with peers
The Faculty Members are knowledgeable , with expertise in their respective domains .
The placement services at dtu are amazing offers a wide range of opportunities across multiple domains , including software ,core engineering and consulting .

Dislikes

Gender Imbalance the girl to boy ratio is very around 1 is to 10
Outdated equipment's in some labs certain labs especially in core branches lack modern tools and technology
Limited support for support at undergraduate level (research opportunities are limited)

Internships Opportunities:

The internship opportunities of my college is a mixup of on campus placements and industry tieups and also student applications .. companies like TCS WIPROHCL L&T BOSCH provide high internship opportunities here in which students of our college actively participate . During an internship student work in varioud Web development projects , Data Analysis embedded systems etcc...which provide hands on experience in real world opportunities

the campus is really beautifull , full of greenery and open spaces . you willl see animal like cats dogs , peacocks , and even monkeys roaming around . it actually adds a chill vibe to the enivroment . the sports complex is amazing and hs almost ever
the class room are all air conditioned and the labs are well equipped and furnished , which makes practicals really comfortable . there are food courts spread which makes practicals comfortable . there are food courts spread all over the campus .
the faculty is also good overall - most of the teachers are well qualifies and they really hoe to teach . some of them are really helpful and supportive , esspeaccliy when it comes to clearing droughts or guiding us for projects .

Dislikes

gender ratio I will say the boys are here In a big majority as respect to females which are all over very in my class there are 5 girls out of 71 students which is very less .
the hostes=ls conditions seriusly need some work . first of all not all hostels are air condiotined and considering heat , thats really tough to manage . also , the hostels fees are quite high and they keeps increasing so I think needs to be looked i
the mess food is honestly not to good at all , and its a common complaint among students . the water quality also needs attention - the drinking water tanks should be cleaned regularly but ists not done as often as it should be

DTU attracts top companies for placements, but generally, companies don't hire in large numbers for internships, so only the top students get selected, and competition is very intense for securing one. Projects and knowledge of web development and DSA are very important for securing an internship. studens also get hired in finacne and tech roles as well.

DTU offers a excellent environment for other Acivities ex - Sports and Dance
Supoortive Faculty and Vibrant culture that encourage campus development

Dislikes

Outdated Curriculum in some some of the subjects which i dont feel like studying
Limited Reasearch and Innovation for the students in other departments like Consulting and Product Managments
Some of the Teachers were Arrogant towards the students

DRDO research intern i worked on the topic rocket motor and propellents and collaborted with a team and we found out 3 most eco-friendly techniques for other use and i did other intern at accenture as a data analyst where i analyzed different datasets

One of the best campuses in North India as we boast a modern infrastructure like no one else.
Our annual fest Engifest is one of the largest in North Indian Colleges.
Learning facilities with supersonic labs have made sure that we have the best learning artillary at our campus.

Dislikes

One of the strictest attendance system as soon much fine and in some cases debarred from giving exams.

The infrastructure of DTU is quite very Good and above the Horizons. It has 164 acre Campus. It consist of Central Library, Computer Centre
Students get to a part of many SOCIETIES like Cultural Society or Tech Society as per their respective interest and Passion.

Dislikes

The first and foremost thing would be Administrative delays. The slow administrative processes need to be almost null to zero.
The huge gap amongst the very branches in terms of placement should be minimal.

Placement Experience:

The students gets eligible for the placements from fourth year. The companies comes and goes by. The head of placement cell confirms the different guidelines for applying for the company. Around 20- 50 companies visited , made that much of offers. The highest package offered was 2.3 CR and average package was 56 lakhs. Around 60%- 70% students,got the placements. Getting into startups after degree.

One of the finest college in Delhi

Overall Campus Life : The life here at DTU is quite chill and enjoyable
No strict attendance : It is 75% mandatory officially but even with 50%, you wont have any problem
Sports Complex : The sports area, grounds, gym is amazing!

Dislikes

Reservation : There is 85% reservation for Delhi students.
Gender Ratio : The ratio here is 1:30 or even worse
Hostels : First years hostel are very poor with no AC

Internships Opportunities:

A decent number of internships are available. There are a ton of startups happening within the college which require interns and they take first and second years as interns. Average stipend is 15k+ which is quite good considering first and second year students

Actually it's chill environment as compared to others college and it's infratecure is good as well
The most important thing here I have seen in upper brances like cs it's very chill environment in lab or in class attendance as well
They conduct one of best fest in Delhi name engifest and many fest happens in a year so students can enjoy

Dislikes

Late sem result..they actually give sem result very late ...sem result means cgpa display ..
Their website has so many bugs with many issues
Increasing fees every year but not providing more good facilities like water quality...and many things like canteen hygeine

Internships Opportunities:

Many companies came here but the only thing is getting internship on campus is very hard here because most of the company take students which have cgpa 9+ ...or from either upper branches ...skills matter but cgpa also.having.less than 8 cgpa is very difficult for them to get internship there

Likes

The campus size is quite big , so it's pretty fun to wander around .
The placements(specifically in my branch) is pretty good compared to the other engineering colleges.
There are good research oppurtunities for student interested in research.

Dislikes

The fees is too high being a government college which is increasing every year.
The college has an 85% delhi quota which makes it a less diverse compared to NITs and IITs.
The gender ratio is too poor , compared to other colleges.

Internships Opportunities:

Being in 1st year , we don't get to know a lot about internships , So I can't say a lot . The on campus internships starts from 3rd year onwards , which as I have heard gets a little competitive. Students gets stipend from 10000 INR a month to 100000 INR a month depending on your skills and the company.

Why is DTU ranked so low in the NIRF?

DTU, earlier known as DCE, has a rather obsolete curriculum and pedagogy. Despite that, it invites more than 450 recruiters every year. These companies are well aware of the excellent coding culture at DTU showcased through the student's online presence on top sites like HackerRank/HackerEarth/Codechef. So if you are a coding lover, DTU has opportunities at par with top institutes like IIITH, IITB, and BITS Pilani.

However, rankings are done on various aspects including GO. Considering all the branches of DTU, it rightly deserves to be among the top ten due to its location.

But NIRF ranks it poorly as it considers a variety of parameters like:

TLR, Teaching, Learning, and Resources: DTU has very few approachable faculties thereby bringing down the ratings
RPP, Research and Professional Practice: Recently, DTU has received funding so it’s slowly improving its research culture which earlier was non-existent.
GO, Graduation Outcomes: DTU has a good graduation outcome almost comparable to IIT Bombay.
OI, Outreach, and Inclusivity: This brought down the rankings miserably.

So we can conclude that NIRF rankings are based on useless criteria and shouldn’t be considered to evaluate colleges worth and credibility.

Which ranks higher: NSIT, DTU, or an NIT?

It’s hard to determine the worth and credibility of these institutes just by looking at official rankings. So I will be taking into consideration some criteria

Placements: The placement scenario and opportunities offered at all these institutes are equally good as similar companies visit for placements. Companies like Google and Facebook conduct an open test like APAC so students of all institutes get equal opportunities.
Campus life: In terms of the campus and city life offered, my preference order would be DTU = NSIT > NIT. Being in Delhi, NSIT and DTU offer better opportunities and exposure. Delhi has it all, major corporate headquarters, the media, and top colleges like IIT-D and DU to compete with.
Student pool: The peer group has a massive effect on you and helps you in determining your interests and activities and grooming your personality. The ranking of colleges depends solely on the type of crowd you are looking for. If you are from south India, you would prefer to join NIT- Trichy. So this aspect cannot be generalized at all.
Campus: A dynamic college life is very important to break from occasional strenuous situations. In that aspect, NIT offers the best campus life followed by DTU and NSIT.
Faculty: The faculty pool is better at NIT than at NSIT and DTU. NIT is a central government institute and has a better recruitment process so filtration is better.
Alumni: Alumni network plays a big role in your institute’s reputation in the corporate sector and can help you financially with your startup idea. That being said, DTU and NIT Trichy have the best alumni network followed by other NITs and NSITs.

It’s best to go for the college that is best suitable for you alone and not just because it has good rankings.

What is the ranking of DTU in India?

DTU is a government institute under the NCT Delhi. The institute has a wide range of branches like Production, Mechanical, Biotech, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, etc. These branches aren’t available in tier-2 colleges like NSIT and IIIT Delhi. The core branches have poor placement statistics which makes the NSIT and IIIT Delhi placements look better.

Most students don't set placements as their goals after BTech these days but prefer appearing for competitive exams like CAT, GRE, GMAT, UPSC Exams, SSC Exams, GATE, etc. That being said, Delhi is the supreme location that offers excellent opportunities for coaching and preparations for these exams apart from great placements and campus life.

The method and indicators of the rankings vary and include bibliometrics, reputation, teaching, and international outlook. The ranking also includes the number of students placed with the good packages. The university reported that 1821 students were placed in this placement drive and received 1990 offers. A total of 2684 students from B.Tech, M.Tech & MBA courses participated in the placement drive. DTU has been ranked in the 29^th spot among the top Engineering colleges in India by NIRF 2023 rankings. Furthermore, DTU has also been ranked on 40^th place in NIRF 2023 Overall Ranking. The NIRF Innovation Rankings 2023 ranks DTU Delhi in 11 spots. Moreover, in the recently released India Today rankings 2023, DTU Delhi has been ranked on 08 spot among the top Public colleges in India. The IIRF Ranks DTU on the 22nd spot in the Engineering category.

The first-year fee for Btech at DTU is INR 2.29 Lakhs, for 2^nd year is INR 2.37 Lakhs, for 3^rd year is INR 2.47 Lakhs, and for 4^th year is INR 2.67 Lakhs. DTU's highest package stood at INR 82.05 LPA (received by the B.Tech batch) & DTU's B.Tech (COE) average package stood at INR 23.70 LPA. NSUT fee is equivalent to the DTU’s Fee. The average package offered to NSUT is INR 16 LPA. The fee per year for the Btech course at DU is INR 2.16 Lakhs. The average package for B.Tech students at DU is around INR 13 and the highest package was INR 35LPA. The fee per year at the IPU is INR 1.31 Lakhs. The average package for B.Tech students at GNIT IPU is around INR 8 to 9 LPA, and the highest package was INR 42 LPA.
