Campus Life

My overall campus life experience has been positive. The college conducts an annual cultural fest and a technical fest, usually between January and March, which encourage creativity and teamwork. The library has a good collection of books and journals. Classrooms are equipped with projectors and basic digital facilities. Sports and extracurricular activities are supported, with indoor and outdoor games available. Student-run clubs and portals actively organize events, workshops, and activities, helping students build skills, confidence, and strong social connections.

Placement Experience

Placements at my college are moderate. Students become eligible from the 7th semester. A few IT and service-based companies visit, offering roles like developer, analyst, and support engineer. Average packages are modest, with limited offers. I plan to upskill, build projects, and pursue better opportunities after graduation.

Everything related to faculties is very good. Faculties are applicable incase of needs. Facult-student relationships are also very healthy. Faculty's expertise in their respective subjects are good. Some faculties are very populer between students for their good teaching style and their bond with students. Some names in that list are Samir Shah sir, Reena Panchal ma'am Shweta Barot ma'am, Vaibhav Trivedi sir, Sumit Vishwakarma sir.

Course Curriculum Overview

As this college is under mumbai university so this college cannot modify syallbus in their own the have to strictly follow the university prescribe syallbus, academic timelines, rules and norms of the mumbai university. I have taken the admission in this college in the year 2024 from this year the NEP-2020 was adopted by the every indian universities and instituites. Since NEP-2020 was adopted also by mumbai university some new subjects are added to the syallabus that are oriented to financial literacy,Entreprenuianl, indian laws related subjects the syallubus of this subject is very good to see in the syallabus pdf. But the ground reality is different this subject is not given much importance by faculties the are treated as not much important subject as their are not related to our course as a result the students also take these subjects lightly. Also the professors appointed for this subjects are not much good they appoint the faculties who are recent graduates of their college who are working now as a professor in the same college. The college treat this subject lectures as an practice for the fresh faculties to gain experience of how to teach students. The core subject syallbus is same not changed the mumbai university has just changed the name of the subject. The college professors just teach the subject but they do not teach in that way that it makes us ready for real world problems. And also in the first year all the subjects are common for all the branches of the engineering which consist of subject like physics, chemistry, mechanics,Basic electrical Electronics,Engineering Graphics. It is my opinion why should an student who is studying an course called Computer Engineering so why should i read the subjects of the other branches like civil, mechanical, electrical and electronics in my first year instead of my domain subjects for whole two semester and the timespan of almost an year

The faculty of our college are really understanding and good with students and are quite experienced. The faculty-to-student ratio is about 1:15. And faculty is really helpfull for every student. some of the best faculty memebers at our college were Aquib sir, afaaq sir. Really talented and experienced teachers. For every semester there are minimun of 2 exams, a minor exam and one major for the final of semeter. That makes it almost 4-5 exams in a year, and the studenyts clear exams really easily.

Course Curriculum Overview

The college curriculum was quite nice and i would rate it from good to very good, The syllabus is really good and covers both theoretical foundationand practical applications, which make it suitable for students aiming for industry roles or higher studies Areas of improvement include updating some subjectsmore frequently to meet the industry needs.Teaching methods could also be improved by using more interactive sessions.

In one sem there are 2 exams first is mid sem it is organises by college the second is final exam from gtu. In mid sem the ratio of students pass by this is 95 to 97% and for gtu will be same.

The student to teacher ratio in our college is around 1 to 60 so sometimes it feels a bit crowded but teachers still try to help and they answer doubts when we ask. Most faculties are friendly and if we go to them personally they explain things properly. The teacher I like the most is Pallavi Jadhav mam who teaches Engineering Graphics. I like her because she teaches slow and in a way that we can understand. EG is a little confusing but because of her I am able to understand it well. The faculty I dont like much is Ashwini Pawar mam who teaches Fundamental of Programming Language. She doesnt teach bad but I personally dont get it because she teaches too fast and doesnt go deep in the topic so sometimes I cant follow. In our course every subject has 2 units and then we have a prelim before final exams. At the end SPPU takes the main sem exam. The difficulty is easy to medium and not many students fail if they study properly. The marking scheme is simple and mostly based on understanding not very tough questions. Assignments and practicals also help in scoring. Overall the curriculum is useful because most subjects are basics that we will need in next semesters. Some parts can be updated with new technology but still it is manageable and helpful.

Campus Life

My overall campus life experience is good especially in terms of social activities and events though there are a few limitations. The college celebrates its annual cultural festival called Sanskriti usually held in the second half of the year, and the technical festival Zion which takes place in the early months of the semester. The library is one of the best parts of the campus with a large range of books, journals and reference material available for all subjects so students always get what they need for studies. Every classroom has a projector and some even have smart screens which makes learning easier and more interactive. There are many student clubs like Sanskruti for cultural events and Durgayans, who participate in BAJA and build cars, along with other technical and event clubs. But first-year students are not allowed to join these clubs because the college wants us to focus on academics in the beginning. One drawback is that there is no ground inside the campus so all sports and extracurricular activities are held at another DY Patil campus which is around 1.5 km away. Still whenever events happen the crowd is active and energetic and the clubs add a lot of fun and involvement to student life.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am currently pursuing diploma in computer engineering collage, gandhinagr. since this is a goverment collage, the overfall fee is very affordable compared to private collages. our fee is charged on a year-wise basis and includes tution fee, development fee, lab fee & other compulsory charges. In my first year, the total fee. In my first year GEC Gandhinagar, the total fee was around Rupee 1725 including admission & resgistration. From second year onward, the yearly tution fee stays around 500 to 700 rupee, with no hidden charges and only a refundable cacution deposit paid once. the fee structure is pretty stable, so there is no sudden increase students from SC, ST & EWS categories get relaxion as per goverment norms. there are also scholarship like MYSY, merit-cum-means & SC/ST schemes that help many students get full or patial fee reimbursement. overall, the cost of this 3-year Degree course is very affordable for Diploma to degree students.

Faculty

The faculty members at GEC gandhinagar are knowledgeable and supportive. many of them tech with practical example, and they are apporachable when we need help with assignments or concept. A few techers rely more on theory, but overall the teching quality keeps us on the right track in engineering. The course structure follows GTU guidelines, so we learn both technical fundamentals and new subjects every semester. labs are for important subjects, which helps improve our hands-on skills. the exam system has internal exam, practicals, and practical performance. GTU finals are based on theory and follow a 70 marks pattern. the marking is fair, but students must keep consistency in internals in internals to score well overall.

Faculties are really friendly with the students they solve all the doubts even if we ask them multiple Times. Students can approach the faculties without any hesitation they will respond in very friendly way. Especially Purvi Mistry mam who is really supportive and kind. She listen to all kind of problems any student have. I type of dislike Sandeep Bhatt sir who teaches chemistry. It's not like I don't like him it's just I don't understand the points he teach. In per sem we give two exams first one is mid sem and second is main GTU exam. Mid sem is on a moderate level while GTU papers are kind of hard to handle. Many students didn't qualify in GTU exam.

Campus Life

Many activities such as techfest, sports festival and many and physical activities take place in this college. Physical as well as e-sports activities takes place too. Campus Life

There is a big fest in the college known as Sanskriti. Various programs like singing, dancing, cultural activities and most of the programs are arranged by this club. It is mostly held in the January. Campus life in the college is not very good for the first year as no clubs activities is allowed for 1st year. College wants first year students to focus on studies rather than other activities. The facilities provided by the College is great and there are plenty of labs. And other things related to study that the college provides Library is very good as it consist of many books related to vast number of subjects and all the areas are covered. There is no sports ground in the college, so there are no sports activities held in the college itself. But the college arranges other sports activities through other grounds.

Faculty

Every 20 students has a teacher guardian assigned to them. A class of 60 students has two class teachers. Most of the faculty of the college are approachable and they are helpful. Some faculties, like my class teacher Ms Pallavi Jadhav are very helpful regarding anything academic or non academic. Very few teachers are rude and arrogant, but most of the teachers are not. There are EndSems every semester conducted by the SPPU, and there are prelims before endsems for checking the preparation of the end SEM exams. Also there are two unit test in every semester which are for 2 to 3 units. The difficulty lies between easy to moderate. Most of the students clear the unit test without any difficulties

Course Curriculum Overview

Course Curriculum is followed as per the Gujarat Technological University that is GTU which is outdated. The same old books amd syllabus which was introduced decades ago is being tough with the excuse that this is the basics and hence is a must for you all to learn. Seriously speaking there is no real world application. Everyone study the syllabus just to pass the exams. There is no excitement left to study the subject. I think syllabus should be based on today's world. That should create a sense of excitement among the students. Topics like drones, Virtual Reality etc should be introduce. There are 2 mid semester and one University level exam every year. Passing atleast one mid semester exam for a particular subject is must to allow yourself to seat in University exam.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have paid rupees 33 thousand as my per sem fees which would make 66 thousand rupees yearly. I dont think mentioning the detail fee structure would be any helpful as you won't be allowed to opt out of particular fee charges. At last you will be paying 33k as a whole amount. As far as I know there ia not any fee wavier on the basis of cast. You only get cast benefit on the time of cutoff and admission. There are various scholarship which you can apply. Various Government scholarships like mysy scholarship or Economic Weaker Section Scholarship which you can avail. Also our college also provide TFWS for students who has outperform with exceptional scores in the admission exams.

Ques. My JEE main rank is 10000. Can I get computer science in NIT Trichy?

● Top Answer By Danish Khan on 31 May 24

Ans. No, you will not get CSE in NIT Trichy with a 10000 JEE main rank. But you will get to pursue CSE from NIT Jalandhar, NIT Hamirpur, etc. Your rank is quite good but it will not be enough to get admitted to NIT Trichy. However, you might get admitted to other branches in NIT Trichy such as Production, ICE, MME, etc. You can also prepare for JEE Advanced and try your luck with the IITs. Do not lose hope because NIT Tricbhy is not the only best institute in the country to pursue CSE. Also, CSE is not the only course that will lead you to a successful path. There are many other colleges and many other courses that are equally good. Research and take your time. You will surely do great. All the best!Read more

Ques. I got NIT Surathkal ECE and IIIT Bangalore CSE. I am joining IIIT Bangalore CSE, is it a good decision?

● Top Answer By Aditi Banerjee on 14 Sept 23

Ans. This is a very subjective question. However, as a student of ECE at NIT Surathkal, I am writing down a few points in defense of my degree- First of all, NIT Surathkal offers a much more complete and diversified engineering education. This is because you will get to interact with the students of various disciplines from around the institution. This will offer a good exposure in contrast to the IIITs which are entirely focused on CSE and ECE branches. ECE is the branch of the future. CSE is turning more and more into a commodity. This is due to the dilution of its educational standards, and the increasing volume of students in this branch.  As an ECE student, you can always learn programming (it is in fact a part of the curriculum in a limited manner). However, it is much more difficult to learn the concepts of ECE as a CSE student.  As an ECE student you can be placed in a software company, but as a CSE student you can’t work in the E&C field.  Both the colleges are good, but NITK holds more prestige because it is much older. Its campus is very impressive as well. But even IIIT Bangalore CSE is a great option. Once you’ve made a decision, stop seeking others’ opinions. Instead, work on your skill enhancement. Considering the sheer lack of core jobs in the electronics sector in India and the huge placement opportunities in the IT sector, your choice is good from a placement point of view. Read more

Ques. What makes it possible for BITS Pilani CSE students to fetch an average annual placement package of 27.07 LPA, the highest in India for any undergraduate CS course?

● Top Answer By Divya Saraf on 27 Jun 23

Ans. BITS Pilani was able to fetch the highest average in India for any UG CS course owing to the numerous international offers that it received. I don’t consider including the international offers after converting them into Indian offers and then calculating the average as things like stocks and bonuses for subsequent years are overlooked. Thus, the resultant average is inflated and misleading. No doubt BITS is a great institute but being a private one it certainly publishes exaggerated ads and misleading figures to attract the crowd.  BITS Placement Unit is infamous for its actions and bias so the inflated figures also served the purpose of silencing the ones that criticized the unit.  The only solution to this problem is for colleges to come together and decide on a common declaration format for job offers. The Indian and international offers should be normalized according to purchasing power parity, and stocks made available after 3 years of working should not be considered part of a person's salary 'package'.Read more

Ques. IIT CSE vs IIIT Hyderabad CSE vs NIT CSE?

● Top Answer By Adinath Jain on 21 Mar 23

Ans. You can go ahead with the following order to know which among IIT CSE, IIIT Hyderabad CSE, and NIT CSE are better: IIT B IIT D IIT M IIT K IIT KGP IIT R CSE BITS Pilani - Pilani Campus CSE IIT H IIT G IIT BHU CSE IIIT Hyderabad CSE BITS Pilani - Goa, Hyderabad Campus CSE NIT CSE However, it's important to note that IIIT H has the best Computer Science Department and one of the best coding environments in the country. If you're genuinely interested in coding and related stuff, you should definitely consider IIIT H without any second thoughts. The above-formulated list is based on brand name, alumni network, campus life, academic workload, and more importantly, the priority order that many students actually follow. When you've worked so hard for two years, you will always have that inner voice driving you toward choosing IITs. After all, everyone wants to enjoy the perks of being an IITian. So, follow your interests and make a decision that you won't regret. Keep in mind that all of these options are amazing and you have a great opportunity ahead of you.Read more

Ques. I got CSE in VIT Vellore and will get mechanical engineering in NIT Calicut. Which one should I choose?

● Top Answer By Suchit Raghuwanshi on 27 Aug 21

Ans. NIT Calicut stands among the top NITs where you will get a lot of exposure to extracurricular activities. As it’s a government college, the fees will be relatively low as compared to private universities like VIT Vellore.  On the other hand, VIT Vellore isn’t that great institute plus being a private institute the fees is quite high for most middle-class students. If you choose Mechanical here then you can go for two different paths.  The first path is to go for mechanical core, in which you will get ample research opportunities every now and then. However, the placement scenario will not be that great and you might get some PSUs as campus recruiters for mechanical jobs. The second path is to go for IT Jobs regardless of your mechanical branch.  For this, you need to start doing regular coding and relevant skills to compete during the placement rounds. Most of the students are placed by mass recruiters, Although many reputed companies hire but very few students get placed by them. Ques. Should I study CSE at BITS Pilani or CSE at IIT (BHU)?

● Top Answer By Ritu Raj on 31 Jul 24

Ans. IIT BHU  and BITS Pilani are both highly respected engineering colleges in India. Here’s why IIT BHU is a better option out of the two: Brand Value: The "IIT" name is prestigious and globally recognized. This reputation can be very helpful when applying for jobs or higher studies abroad. Affordable Fees : As a government institution, IIT BHU has much lower fees compared to BITS Pilani, which is a private institution. This makes IIT BHU more affordable for students. High Return on Investment (ROI): Due to its lower fees and excellent placements,  IIT BHU has a higher ROI. Students of IIT BHU invest comparatively less money in their education, but they receive high-paying jobs after graduation. Here is a comparison between IIT BHU and BITS Pilani:   Particulars IIT BHU CSE BITS PILANI CSE Establishment Year 1919 1926 NIRF Ranking: Engineering 15 25 Tuition Fee *INR 1 lakh per semester INR 2.60 lakhs per semester  Highest package (2023) INR 1.15 CPA INR 60.75 LPA (overall) Average package (2023) INR 34.43 LPA INR 30.37 LPA (overall) CTC Range - INR 11-38 LPA (IT/Tech branch) Recruiters Accenture, Accolite, Adobe, etc.  McAfee, McKinsey & Co, CA Technologies, etc.  *(for SC/ST/PwD students, and others with family income <= 1 LPA, the tuition fee is 0.
