  • The core topics include an understanding of analog transmission, basic electronics, solid state devices, microprocessors, digital and analog communication, analog integrated circuits, satellite communication, microwave engineering, antennae and wave progression.
  • Course Structure of BTech ECE is an introductory course for electrical engineering students where students study a series of core courses along with elective subjects which cover the concepts of telecommunications, energy and electronics sectors.
  • The delivery method includes an integrated study of topics through classroom lectures, practical, laboratory works, workshops, research programs and internships.
  • The course is intended to impart knowledge of principles underlying communication systems.
  • The course covers all the arenas of all electrical and communication study educating students with different topics like Integrated Electronics, fields and waves etc.

Why BTech ECE?

BTech ECE equips students with the key competencies required to excel in long-term career goals.

  • Electronics and Communication Engineering is one of the streams where you adapt practically pretty much all the concepts of science.
  • It is among the few other streams that gives you this diverse yet paltry information on all the fields.
  • Creation of specialised networking systems and equipment called value added services. Call diversion, video conferencing to bind people all over the world.
  • Candidates expecting their shortcoming is in learning the programming dialects or lean toward a no coding stream, would by and large be taking this stream, not to overlook them, winding up in a product firm and turning into an engineer.
  • Also, people who aren't so secure with which field to seek after their profession would pick this, since they have a choice of picking either the product or the equipment side.
  • After graduation, an EC engineer is qualified to work in either core electronics job as well as a Contact Service Provider or Vendor Job.

I don't like to share personal info as it causes my privacy to be disturbed I don't like to be offended due to my caste I know that I've got this seat due to reservation but yeah I've to overcome it it's my early stage of college there's a lot to see so no

Placement Experience

The placement in our college is excellent theres a specific building for placement training and seniors here are very helpful to placement offers even though it's their free time in 4th year a lot of companies visit our campus to recruit us

Some faculties are easily approachable while others are not. Like there's so many facilities in ECE department or any other dept who are willing to help students for projects internship placements ..but at the sam etime some faculties are not reachable for this purpose. There're teo exams in a session mid term and end term . Midterm is of 20 marks and end term of 50 marks while rest is internal marking

Campus Life

We have cultural as well as tech fests like Moksha , Aayam. Moksha is held on april and Aayam on September. We have a grand Central library and there are more than enough books for students studying in various branch. There're various clubs like FINE ARTS CLUB, DEZIRE, MALHAR, AAVEG, ANIMA, etc....for art dance music , drama ...and even tech clubs too like DCC and GDSC, NLC , etc

Faculty

The student to faculty ratio is generous there is no shortage of faculty in our campus, and 99% faculty is helpful and friendly with students, all faculties are highly qualified from various premium institutes, they are good lecturer and teacher. Professors often teach us life ethics beyond our syllabus, they tell us to keep our environment clean, one can see passion in the eyes of professors for teaching, they are dedicated and best in the work they do,one can ask any question to them and they will answer them, they keep there nature jolly for most of the time in classes so that freshers don't feel nervous about asking anything. I liked our ece hod professors the most. Dr.karan He is very friendly and helpful towards students. Our director is also very chill and humble person he even serves us dinner in our fresher party, yes you heard it right, The director itself served us the dinner in our freshers. Our various faculty like english faculty is also very good Dr.bhawna and Dr.kajal both professors are very friendly and helpful towards students, they don't stop any student from asking question and they do various activities in our class to make us good in english speaking skills. Our physics faculty are also so good they teach in a way that people can fall in love with physics, our cs teacher is also very helpful he taught us everything from scratch even the basics of computer which people used to study in school ,he taught here so that every type of student with any background can follow up in class. There are three exams in one semester Mid sem1 Mid sem 2 End sem Exams are mid semester are moderate and end sems can be tough But if one will study before a week of mid semester and before a fortnight of endsem they can excel in exams.the course curriculum is very updated and adapted to new industrial needs.they also included various audit courses like various languages and ethics classes so that students can learn about life beyond the engineering.

Fees and Financial Aid

In our college, there is feeling waiver on the basis of yearly family income There's bracket one whose family income is less than 1 lakh, the bracket one got full tution fee wavier due to which there college fee got around 2 lakh for whole duration of course, while each sem every student has to pay around 34500 rupees for mess irrespective of the bracket There's bracket two for the ones whom family income is less than 5 lakhs but more than 1 lakh, these students' tution fee got 2/3 wavier, so they have to pay 43400, i belong from this bracket, and additional mess fees same as bracket one.I haven't taken any scholarship although there are too many scholarships are available like the students will get information about the scholarships from the offical whatsapp group of college itself, they don't have to hunt for it by self, The third bracket the ones whom family income is more than 5 lakhs, they don't have any fee wavier so there's fees is around 6 lakh with additional mess fees same as the first two brackets The sc st candidates get full tution fee wavier irrespective of family income Tution fees is around 60000 per semester while the other fees like hostel fee is 10000 for single seater, 7000 for double while 4000 for triple seater; per semester We have to pay 6000 for one time which is non refundable as a security, While the mess fees can be adjusted against the real bill of mess and electricity; There is separate scholarship for various groups for pwd candidates there is scholarship For core branches there is separate scholarship "op jindal engineering and management scholarship " and in the scholarships internally reserved for various caste groups There is Siemens scholarship which Is merit based.

Faculty

When it comes to faculty to student ratio, i dont know exactly but NITC has the most number of teaching and non teaching staff amoung all NITs. The faculty are approachable, but few of the faculty just come to class and reads the ppt. The garding system here is very nice, it is relative grading(depends on the proffesor) mostly and absolute grading for labs. The attendance percentage depends on the proffesors, mostly it will be 70 to 80 %. There are a total of 190+ students in ECE, about 50 each in section(there are 4 sections in ECE), there might be 5 to 10 students who fail to clear the exams, but the institute provide facilites like re examination. Since it is relative grading we can get good grades if we study before one week of exams and listenting to classes. Also the assignments(there will be one test before mid sem and end sem each) and tests depends on the proffesor. Some proffesors also gives assignments. The lab equipment is good but the teaching faculty in labs are not good, they expect us to know everything about the experiment before the lab session itself.

Course Curriculum Overview

I have chose ECE because it is a good branch from a good NIT, i haven't checked the curriculum of the course before joining. The course curriculum is good and i think it is relavant for electronics and communication engineering. It is updated in 2023, the core subjects starts from 1st year itself and from 2nd year the students have electives to choose. There are mid and end exams per sem which are mandatory and also tests and assignments which depends on proffesors. Every sem after mid sem exam there will be fest for students relief. They can make improvements in lab sessions, if they can give more information about the experiments it will be helpfull for students.

Faculty

Marking system is mostly relative. And more faculties are strict about correction and copying things. Attendance was not an issue in 1st year but not in further years. There are more than required faculty such that no course is neglected. I dont like especially the management here. because they often assign teachers whose domain is different but need to teach other domain subjects. two exams mid and end. and some quizzes and assignments. Some faculties it is tough to pass but most of it is easy.

Campus Life

two major fests. Ragam cultural festival in even sem and Tathva Technical fest in Odd sem. The fests are too good to experience but costly and majority of funds collected from students. The library is Ok, not too good and not too bad You get a decent range of books. Very good for people interested in sports. They can explore as their wish and even condonations will be provided for such ones. many student clubs. some of them are recognised ones like aerounwired, unwired, and rig.

Faculty

The faculty student ratio is good. The class size for each subject is around 60 students. The student teacher relationship is friendly and the faculties clear doubts whenever one arises. I am from the electronics branch and I love all the professors. They are well knowledgable and provide deep insights for each subject. There are 3 exams for each sem. They are called Continuous Assessment Test -1 and 2 and Final Assessment Test. Continuous test 2 is an open book exam. There are plenty of Assignments and course projects enabling proficiency in that subject.

Course Curriculum Overview

ECE is a core subject in the upcoming technologies like the semiconductor field etc. which is why I chose this branch. VIT has a lot of labs and equipment that enables a person to learn and grasp practical knowledge faster. The teaching methods include using a PPT and using a white board . Sometimes flip classes are done when students explain topics. The 2nd open book test is the toughest in difficulty level when compared to exam 1 and the final test.

The faculty to student relationship is very good and they are very friendly and helping students. Mr. M. Sivasankara Rao - He is Sr. Assistant Professor and very kind hearted and helping person. Mr. P. Venkateswarao - He is also Sr. Assistant Professor the subject he has is very amazing and way of teaching also very well. Dr. G.L.N. Murthy - He is Professor the knowledge he is having about the subject is very good, but he's way teaching and communication with students is not that good. Mr. M. Sambasiva Reddy - He is Sr.Assistant Professor, I think he is not that great when it comes the subject. When it comes to exams for every sem there are around 6 subjects. Since our colloge is Autonomous most of the students are going to be passed, in a class there around lessthan 20 students will fail. And the exams difficulty is around easy to medium.

Fees and Financial Aid

My College fee is 69,700 and I'm hosteller and hostel fee is varies from 60,000 to 70,000+ when it comes to scholorships since I belonged to AP we got full fees reambersement, in the 1st year I got the full amount but it will comes the term wise (4 terms each term-17425) but we've to pay the amount first later government will give the amount. Three years we got scholor ship but didn't get in the 4th year. We paid our own amount in 4th year. And for every semister we've to pay exam fee around 1500 and for placement they charged around 10,000 for person, in the middle of the semister also they took some amount for some certification courses.

Course Curriculum Overview

Actually my branch is Electronics and communication engineering but my major interest lies in development area , i have gained all the skills in my college by my own taking some guidance from the seniors as they are very helpful and supporting. Improvements in course curriculum could be like they have to basically add one more course or any training program to help students for making skills and teaching them for their placements.(apart of the course , i am saying not because i am from ECE department , its common from any branch student)

Faculty

Faculties are really good and helpful, means they have proper knowledge of their coursework which they teach...Santosh mahto sir (He is my favourite teacher as he don't have any grudges with any particular student , but he is strict and a friendly one also...u can share anything with him whether personal or any things related to college issues.) Exams are of medium level difficulty not too hard , an average student can get CGPA above 8 easily.

Campus Life

Umm...personally I like my college for the bond that I've formed between my friends. I'm able to enjoy my campus life only because of my friends. Yes, I've also faced some ups and downs with some people but I came to know who I am and what I got to know thier true selfs. I've started to learn from my mistakes. I'm somehow able to get out of my traumas because of the quality time that I'm able to spend with my friends. Coming to festivals and annuals, we celebrate annual function every year. The annaul day is celebrated very grandly! We have a wide range of books and journals available in the library. We have have a wide range of books written and published by various authors for every subject. The sports and extracurricular activites happen to take place most of the time. We enjoy to spend our time in the sports time. We have different social groups and we also have clubs depending on our branch.

Faculty

Some faculty are friendly and well educated. They intend to show some interest to clear our doubts, whereas some faculty members are well educated but they are not teaching the subject properly. For example, I am an ECE student. some faculty members that I've faced for my core subjects were never upto their point. Personally I like jalaja mam. She taught us 2 core subjects. The reason why I like her personally is she is very jovial with the students, she is very friendly as well as caring. She also guides us in our career. I also like her teaching style. We have total 8 semesters to clear our B.Tech. Yeah, most of the students tend to clear all the subjects in the 1st attempt itself.

Ques. I got NIT Surathkal ECE and IIIT Bangalore CSE. I am joining IIIT Bangalore CSE, is it a good decision?

● Top Answer By Aditi Banerjee on 14 Sept 23

Ans. This is a very subjective question. However, as a student of ECE at NIT Surathkal, I am writing down a few points in defense of my degree- First of all, NIT Surathkal offers a much more complete and diversified engineering education. This is because you will get to interact with the students of various disciplines from around the institution. This will offer a good exposure in contrast to the IIITs which are entirely focused on CSE and ECE branches. ECE is the branch of the future. CSE is turning more and more into a commodity. This is due to the dilution of its educational standards, and the increasing volume of students in this branch.  As an ECE student, you can always learn programming (it is in fact a part of the curriculum in a limited manner). However, it is much more difficult to learn the concepts of ECE as a CSE student.  As an ECE student you can be placed in a software company, but as a CSE student you can’t work in the E&C field.  Both the colleges are good, but NITK holds more prestige because it is much older. Its campus is very impressive as well. But even IIIT Bangalore CSE is a great option. Once you’ve made a decision, stop seeking others’ opinions. Instead, work on your skill enhancement. Considering the sheer lack of core jobs in the electronics sector in India and the huge placement opportunities in the IT sector, your choice is good from a placement point of view. Read more

Ques. How is ABES EC as an engineering college and what are its downfalls?

● Top Answer By Gaurav Sharma on 10 Mar 22

Ans. Overall ABES EC is an average engineering college at best. Here are some of the pros and cons of joining the institutes.  Pros:  It has great infrastructural facilities. There is centralized AC for all blocks in the whole college. The lush green campus will soothe your eyes. The hostel accommodation is well furnished and maintained regularly.  There are many food courts that sell good quality food at reasonable prices. The campus has a big stadium that conducts different cricket matches. Some of the faculty members are cooperative and student-friendly.  The ABES EC placement scenario is decent. The average CTC offered to students is around INR 6 LPA. There are many clubs like Samvaad Theatre Group, Technovation, etc. in which you can take part.  Cons:  ABES EC has a strict 75% attendance rule. Failing to maintain this can lead to detention.  The institute calls parents if they don’t attend your class.  The hostel curfew timing for girls is strict. You need to be inside the hostel premises at 6 pm during winter and 6:30 pm during summer.  The video will take you on a tour across the ABES Capus Overall, your time at ABES EC will be a bittersweet one. Read more

Ques. How are the ECE placements at Thapar University?

● Top Answer By Tania Sharma on 03 Aug 23

Ans. In general, there are very limited core placement opportunities in ECE because of the limited scope in this field especially in India. ECE placements at Thapar University are no different. As a whole, ECE placements here are decent because mostly consultancies and management visits for recruitment. The only issue is that core jobs are very less. But on the bright side, students of Thapar University can sit for placements in all branches thereby opening more gates of opportunities for them. This makes up for the lack of core jobs.  I asked a friend about the placements scenario of ECE and she shared a few pieces of information Around 60-65% of students get placed in the ECE department. The highest salary package offered is 30 LPA,  The lowest salary package is 4 LPA,  The average salary package is 6 LPA to 7 LPA.  Top Recruiters are Amazon, WDC Gameskraft, McKinsey, JP Morgan, etc.  Around 75% of students get internship offers in roles such as SDE, member of technical staff, and quant. In all, ECE placements at Thapar University are average. Read more

Ques. How is ECE in IIIT Hyderabad?

● Top Answer By Souvick Gupta on 02 Aug 23

Ans. The ECE program at IIIT Hyderabad is more focused on IT than Electronics because IIIT Hyderabad itself is an IT institute. Other colleges have a lot of non-IT courses in the first year  of their ECE program whereas IIIT Hyderabad ECE has no such courses in the firsts year  ECE stands for many things in different places. ECE in IIIT is Electronics and communication engineering. However, unlike Electronics in other institutes. IIIT Hyderabad ECE program does not include courses such as electrical machines, electric drives, power systems, power electronics, and related labs and workshops.  The students of both ECE and CSE at IIIT Hyderabad are taught common courses sin the first year after which students can take CS courses as electives. Some of these include Statistical Methods in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Artificial Neural and Networks (ANN).   IIIT Hyderabad does not have official CS and ECE departments enabling students from any stream to join any research center irrespective of the program they are enrolled in.  IIIT Hyderabad ECE placements are great Placement % 100% Highest CTC  INR 46 LPA Average CTC  INR 29 LPA Lowest CTC INR 13 LPA Overall, ECE at IIIT Hyderabad is certainly a great choice!Read more

Ques. Which is better NIT Trichy ECE or NIT Calicut CSE?

● Top Answer By Arnav Roy on 24 Jul 23

Ans. NIT Trichy is always considered superior to its counterparts and rightly so. The institute has a record of excellent placements, a competitive environment, and a highly learned faculty pool. NIT Calicut is well-known for its exceptionally good CSE department.  So, I think the decision of choosing between  NIT Trichy ECE and NIT Calicut depends more on personal preferences than the institute. However you would like to consider the following points before making the final decision, ECE is a bit more challenging than CSE in terms of the curriculum and the opportunities offered. However, hard work and assistance from faculty can help you. CSE on the other hand is an evergreen branch that has a record of providing hefty packages and great opportunities in general. NIT Trichy has a difficult campus life owing to its extremely hot climate and remote location. NIT Silchar has a pleasant climate with a beautiful lush green campus.  If you look at the overall picture, both colleges have excellent departments and offer similar opportunities, so the major determining criteria should be your branch preference. If you are interested in electronic systems and communication, go for NIT Trichy ECE but if you have an interest in programming NIT Calicut CSE is better for you.Read more

Ques. How is NIT Jalandhar for ECE?

● Top Answer By Vibhu Sharma on 02 Jan 23

Ans. Avoid choosing NIT Jalandhar if your goal is to study ECE for the sake of studying ECE sincerely and devotedly. ECE at NIT Jalandhar emphasizes placement, specifically in an IT company. As an ECE student, you'll be expected to perform exceptionally well in coding and other CSE-related courses. Additionally, the compensation packages provided by core businesses fall well short of what an ECE student would expect, further decreasing the appeal of ECE core. It is recommended that you choose another institute if you're passionate about electronics and want to pursue a successful career in the field rather than NITJ.Read more

Ques. How is DTU for ECE?

● Top Answer By Atrisa Dutta on 14 Aug 20

Ans. The ECE branch at DTU is very competent. It has a pool of talented, intelligent, and hardworking students. The reason being that the cutoffs for ECE usually are high. DTU ECE students get placed every year in MNCs like Qualcomm, SanDisk, TI, Samsung, and other such reputed firms that hire electronics engineers. A good percentage of the students also pursue an MS from renowned universities across the globe. Students also prepare for competitive exams like CAT, GATE, UPSE CSE, and even succeed in them. The faculty here is very knowledgeable and teaches lucidly. They are also very lenient in their evaluation. The curriculum is entirely focused on hardware, communication, computer architecture, advanced integrated circuits, signals and systems, superior probability, networking, and control systems. This is just a broad classification, the actual curriculum is vast, and students can find a lot of interesting sub-fields in electronics. The only drawback of the curriculum is that it does not offer any CSE electives. Assignments are scarce and can be efficiently dealt with as the solutions are readily available from various sources. The workload is at the bare minimum level. The exams require just a couple of weeks of diligent studying. For the rest of the semester, one is free to explore his/her skills, hobbies, and interests. 75% and above GPA is straightforward to achieve and maintain. Pushing a bit more during the exam period can fetch even 80% and above. This all makes the college life here very exciting and rewarding. To sum up, ECE at DTU is a good option that can be exercised if one compares among the top NITs.Read more
