NITK - A truthful review

The curriculum is well designed to be the industry. In first all the useless stuff that used to be there is removed and only needed things ie , the basics are kept. Mainly engineering graphics has been removed and ECE subjects are added from the 1st sem itself. In each sem there are 4 sets of exams which are almost equally spaced. The difficulty depends completely on the faculties

In 3rd and 4th semester , companies come to college for internship opportunities. There are online and offline internship which depends on the company . Intership opportuinity is available for all the braches and for all the major roles. Roles like Game dev , desigining etc are also there. Companies like Google , Damier , Oracle , Cadbury , etc come with internship oppurtunities

The students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester. Top recruiters like Bajaj , Mercedes-Benz , Siemens , Caterpiller , Bosch , Ola Electric Mahindra , Google and many more come to the campus. Around 250 companies visists the college including the Sillicon Valley tech giants. Highest Package is 55 LPA and average package is 16.25 LPA . Almost 93% of students gets placed. I plan to get into some core company

The tuition fees is 62500 in every semester. Development fees - 2690 , Security deposit - 6710 , Convocation fee - 3310, Lib fees - 2690 , Health care - 1660 , Student Activites fee - 6620 , Campus amenities - 1660 and Hostel rent - 8820. All the fees considered together varies for different Semesters . The average fees per sem is 90,000 and a Mess fees of 35000. If Income < 1 lakh , whole tuition fees will be remitted

Overall campus life experience is great. The major fests that happen are the Tech Fest - ENGINEER which happens in september and the cultural fest INCIDENT during march. Both of them are well known and grand fests. All types of sports like Basketball , volleyball , cricket , badminton , swimming , powerlifting etc are there.There are also a lot of cultural and technical clubs , they also win cups and prizes in competetions. The classrooms are so spacious , with charging and wifi connections around the campus. Classrooms have proper smartboards and some even have ACs.

All the facilites are provided in the room .The rooms are spacious . 1st and 2nd years have 2 or 3 people sharing rooms , and then you will get single rooms. All rooms have ethernet connections too. There are veg and non-veg messes . The mess food is of good quality and is tasty

I got other NITs like NIT Calicut. But I preferred NIT K Surathkal over others because this ranked higher in NIRF system . Also the ECE department of NITK is the best . So I rejected other NITs. The Admission is via JOSSA based on you JEE Mains score.

Most of the faculties and students maintain a good relationship . The Men to women ratio is approximately 79:21 . There are many faculties and experties in all fields are avaible . The faculties are easily approachable and they will guide for anything you need. There are usually 3 internals and the endsemestet exams, and people pass them with minimal effort

There are no kind of Group Discussion or Interview for the admission. The admission is completely based on your JEE Mains rank. The person should clear the cutoff ( which varies every year ) and admission procedure is based on the ranking

The nightlife is awesome. There are two major gyms in the campus. Both are equipped with the best machines possible and have trainers. The Library is also spacious will all the needed resourses . The campus timing is 11 pm and the Hostel timing varies of each batches . But once you reach 3rd year , the timing isn't strict ( acc to rule 1am ) . There are many tea spots inside the campus and Night Canteen and food courts are also there.
