Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is useful for jobs in the industry which led me to opt for this course. The current trend in the industry is not covered in the curriculum. The curriculum should be updated ragularly to match the industry statndards(which is not updated). The frequency of exams are high with hard difficulty.

Internships Opportunities

3

In 6th sem students get time to go for intership and stipend depends on where they land their internship. During that time students can opt for a mini project which will act in their benefit later on.

Placement Experience

4

Students become eligible for campus placement from 7th sem. From 2024 placements SMS group, PWC, TCS Digital, Airport Authority of India etc. Around 50% from ECE opted for placements other opted for higher studies. My plans are to apply for jobs.

Fees and Financial Aid

As it CU is a state university it is quite affordable for students to pursue studies here. For B.Tech the fees is around 40k for the full 4 year course. To enroll themselves in the B.Tech curriculum one must pass the wbjee exam- During wbjee councelling 5k is paid which is then adjusted in the 1st semester fees. So for 1st sem- Tution fees: 5k (paid during councelling) Library fees: 800 Lab fees: 800 Athletic fees: 5 Union fees: 5 Magazine fees: 5 Studnets' Aid funf: 5 Students' Health home fees: 2 Identity Card fees: 50 Total = 6772 And for next 7 semesters- Tution fees: 3000 Lad fees: 1500 Athletic fees: 5 Union fees: 5 Magazine fees: 5 Students' Aid fund: 5 Students' Health home fees: 2 Total = 4522 Total fees for 4 years = 6772 + 4522x7 = 38426 rupees (without hostel)

Campus Life

2

No technical or annual festivals are celebrated here, there is one sports fest but that's it. The libraries are vast and old the range of books are huge. In our dept most classrooms have smart boards and many have projectors. There are some clubs which are totally student-run but they are quite inactive.

Admission

I had applied to JU and GCECT, GCELT. I was accepted in GCECT and GCELT for CSE and other brances but opted for CU ECE because of its reputation and future scope. I didn't clear the cutoff for JU Instrumentation. To get in the college one must clear the wbjee exam and follow through the councelling process. Cut-off depends changes every year quite the year when i took admission in ece it was around 1.8k.

Faculty

4

In our dept we have mentors for every students, faculty to students ratio is quite great and they are very easily approacable. Dr. Sumitra Mukhopadhyay is my mentor and she is very friendly and easily approachable, Dr. Nikhil Ranjan Das is one of the senior-most and respected professors in our department, his classes are very insightful and very easy to understand. Dr. Debatosh Guha's experience working in the industry and easy to understand classes are also quite good. There are 2 midsems in our dept and the difficulty is medium to hard in most cases. Around 10% of the students fail.

Night Life

3

No gyms are there food in cafeterias are cheap but quality is not upto standard in mos of them, there is a park in the middle of campus and there is one ground. It is in the heart of kolkata so many places are there around campus one cannot even travel all the places in their 4 year time and roads are always busy even at night as it is quite near sealdah station.

Other Applied Colleges

Jadavpur University - [JU] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Electronics & Telecom Engineering)

Didn't clear the cutoff required.

Placement Experience:

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course at HIT builds a strong foundation in core subjects like DSA, DBMS, OS, Networking, etc. making it solid for conceptual clarity and exams. However, it's not fully updated with modern industry trends like AI, cloud, DevOps, FullStack. Practical exposure is limited, so students must rely on self-learning and projects to stay industry relevant and placement ready.

The placements at halding Institute of Technology are decent specially for it CSE and allied branches. Many companies from software IT services and 4 sector visit the campus every year. Top recoders include TCS, cognizant, Wipro, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra and other mid level ID firms. Average packages range around 3 to 4 LPA while some top performers rescue higher offers. For branches with fewer campus opportunities students focus on intensive Steel development and certification to enhance emploibility. Those who do not get campus offer higher studies like Mtech MBA competitive exams or startups insuring career growth after graduation.
