My Experience as a Master's Student in University of Calcutta

Yearly I paid 1100 in total for my master's course in accounting and finance under university of Calcutta and we had gain the advantage of scholarship (SVMCM) merit cum need scholarship where we got Rs 24000/- per year for a two year duration course.

Usually all the national and public holidays were off and we celebrated republic day and independence day in this college along with teachers day as per the official calendar days and months. We had an easy access to books and library with an issuance of library card. Sports wasn't popular here.

I didn't apply to any other college except University of Calcutta as it was my dream college to study in the main campus in this university during my m.com course. I chose it due to the excellent faculty members and excellent academic records held by the University. We have to give a entrance exam and should score 60% or above from previous course as an eligibility criteria, the overall admission experience was good.

The faculty to student ratio and relationship is commendable. The students can easily reach out to the faculty members and they are very helpful. All the problems and queries of the students are well addressed and nothing goes un noticed. Prof Pema Lama is very helpful and always has a smile on his face. He helped us throughout the course with any kind of query we had. There is a set of internal assessment before a semester final examination of around 10 marks and then the semester ends with a 40 marks paper for each subject.

We had cafeteria and library in our campus. Timings were from 10 am to 4pm (lectures were scheduled in between) Famous hangout places near my college is coffee house and yes the place is safe to roam about at night.
