IIT ROORKEE - A SCRUPULOUS REVIEW

Fees and Financial Aid:

In each year there are 2 semester. Odd semester has fee 153k and even semester has fee 138 k . Obc /ews/general candidate having family income less than 1 lakh gets fee waiver of 1 lakh each semester. Obc/ews/general candidate having family income less than 5 lakh and above than 1 lakh get fee waiver of 66k per semester. Sc/st students get 1 lakh fee waiver each semester irrespective of their income. This fee waiver scholarship is available in our college. Other than this you can take government scholarship through government portals. The fee mentioned above includes hostel and mess fee also . 143k and 138k breakdown 1 lakh tution fee each semester and rest amount for mess and hostel fee has mess and hostel fee in it.

Total annual fees for general category= 300000 Total annual fees for SC/ST students=100000 James thomson scholarship is there for students have a JEE rank under 300. People from financially weak backgrounds are aided with scholarships and they follow same fees structure as SC/ST students. Many monetary benefits are there for academic and research excellence.

The course offers hands-on knowledge in Data/ Data Engineering technologies. It is suitable for anyone with basic programming knowledge, SQL database work, and an inclination toward Data Science. There is many differences in the price as well as the curriculum of the courses offered by E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee, and CloudxLab.

Merits

Well-structured coursework taught through short videos and quizzes for evaluation
The discussion forum provides assistance in lab work and projects
The solution of the project is available for assistance
The videos can be saved for future reference
Courses are offered at a discount except the lab access

Demerits

The project work has to be completed in the limited timeframe of 3 months

The B.Tech curriculum focuses equally on theoretical and practical learning. This will prepare you for industry roles.

On the other hand, the dual degree curriculum gives more importance to research and specialisation in electrical engineering.

At IT Roorkee, students whose family income is less than 5 lakhs per annum are eligible for fee waivers and concessions. A few points related to the fees submission procedure for students whose family income is less than 5 lakhs are:

Irrespective of your family income, everyone has to pay the fees for the first semester. This includes Tuition Fees, Hostel Rent, and Other charges.
From the next semester, complete fees are waived for SC, ST & PD students. However, students still have to pay other charges and Hostel Rent.
Any excess amount paid by the students at the time to seat allotment shall be refunded.
Complete fee payment including Institute fee and Mess fee to be made if payment is done online.

Which is better, applied math at IIT Roorkee or CSE at any of the newer IITs like IIT Bhubaneswar or Jodhpur?

I am a second year student at IIT Roorkee. There are several reasons why choosing Applied Math at IITR over CSE at a newer IIT is a better option.

IIT Roorkee has a strong national and international reputation as it is one of the oldest universities. Its alumni network is extensive and well-regarded. While IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT Jodhpur are rapidly growing and improving, they still don’t have the same recognition or reputation as IIT Roorkee.
IIT Roorkee has a highly experienced and qualified faculty, particularly in the Mathematics Department. The exposure to high-quality teaching and mentorship can significantly enhance your academic experience.
The Applied Mathematics program at IIT Roorkee offers strong theoretical foundations and practical applications, preparing you for diverse career paths.

Does IIT Roorkee provide M.Sc. in Data Science for a B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics graduate ?

IIT Roorkee does not offer M.Sc in Data Science. The university offers only M.Tech in Data Science at the postgraduate level. You must have a B.Tech degree from a recognized university to be eligible for admission.
