There is a separate course assigned to students called Tinkering and Mentoring which is allowing students to learn and innovate no matter how much mistakes you make you will succeed and learn

The year wise fee is 293100 rs for general/obc students and for sc/st it is 93100 rs per year. Tution fees is waived off for sc/st which is 200000 rs per year. Total fees include: Hostel fee 30000 Mess fee 55000 Medical insurance 10000 Etc etc There are also scholarships for the one in need like tution fee waiver scheme . In this, The student with family income less than 5 lakh per year can get scholarship for tution fee Family income between 1-5 lakh : 2/3rd tution fee waiver Less than 1 lakh family income : full tution fee waive off. This scholarship is for all general/obc students Also there are many other scholarships which are based on student's academic performance.

IIT ROORKEE - A SCRUPULOUS REVIEW

Fees and Financial Aid:

In each year there are 2 semester. Odd semester has fee 153k and even semester has fee 138 k . Obc /ews/general candidate having family income less than 1 lakh gets fee waiver of 1 lakh each semester. Obc/ews/general candidate having family income less than 5 lakh and above than 1 lakh get fee waiver of 66k per semester. Sc/st students get 1 lakh fee waiver each semester irrespective of their income. This fee waiver scholarship is available in our college. Other than this you can take government scholarship through government portals. The fee mentioned above includes hostel and mess fee also . 143k and 138k breakdown 1 lakh tution fee each semester and rest amount for mess and hostel fee has mess and hostel fee in it.

Here’s the complete year-wise fee breakdown for IIT Roorkee, including hostel and mess charges: General/OBC Tuition Fee: ?1,00,000 per semester Caution Money (Refundable): ?7,000 (one-time) Admission Fee: ?1,500 (one-time) Registration Fee: ?750 per semester Development Fee: ?5,000 per year Library Fee: ?1,000 per year Career Development Cell: ?300 per year Medical insurance ?700 per semester Other Miscellaneous Fees: ?5,000 per year Hostel Charges: ?10,000 per semester Mess Advance: ?20,000 per semester SC/ST/PwD/EWS - only the tution fees is waved the rest of the fees is same. Overall fees including tuition fees(200000) + mess + hostel= 300000 per year Mess and Hostel are compulsory SC/ST Students are exempted from paying tuition fees. Total annual fees for general category= 300000 Total annual fees for SC/ST students=100000 James thomson scholarship is there for students have a JEE rank under 300. People from financially weak backgrounds are aided with scholarships and they follow same fees structure as SC/ST students. Many monetary benefits are there for academic and research excellence.

The courses provided by Cloudxlab, E&ICT Academy and IIT Roorkee are well structured. All the credits go to the excellent CloudxLab team which provides constant assistance on issues related to labs and coursework via the discussion forum.

The course offers hands-on knowledge in Data/ Data Engineering technologies. It is suitable for anyone with basic programming knowledge, SQL database work, and an inclination toward Data Science. There is many differences in the price as well as the curriculum of the courses offered by E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee, and CloudxLab.

Merits

Well-structured coursework taught through short videos and quizzes for evaluation
The discussion forum provides assistance in lab work and projects
The solution of the project is available for assistance
The videos can be saved for future reference
Courses are offered at a discount except the lab access

Demerits

The project work has to be completed in the limited timeframe of 3 months
Some Spark modules are difficult to comprehend especially by beginners
The videos are extremely short and sometimes fail to explain the entire concept
Lab web console and Hue editor face technical issues on a regular basis.

Ultimately it can be said that it is a decent learning platform that provides training at subsidiary rates and is growing at an exponential rate.

How good is the MCA course at IIT Roorkee?

The MCA course has been discontinued since 2015 owing to its outdated curriculum. It does not offer an MCA program anymore. The key highlights of the program were

Curriculum: The coursework and the pedagogy adopted were outdated and needed a lot of improvisation to meet the industry trends.
Faculty: IIT Roorkee has a shortage of CS faculty in general. The course MCA, although run by the Mathematics department, was an interdisciplinary course that covered various fields. The lack of CS faculty and Math teachers teaching CS was a major drawback of the program.
Placements: The placement scenario was also decent but since the program is not known among many, the demand is also less. It is the duty of the Central Placement Team to inform companies about the course. Yet, many top firms like MS, Amazon, Directi, Inmobi, Symantec, and Nvidia allowed students to sit for placements.

All in all, this course is not good enough to be chosen over BTech. The only reason some joined this program was to get a taste of the rich college life and opportunities offered at IIT Roorkee. Had this course been running under the CS department with a few updates, it would not have faced such a setback.

Does IIT Roorkee provide M.Sc. in Data Science for a B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics graduate ?

IIT Roorkee does not offer M.Sc in Data Science. The university offers only M.Tech in Data Science at the postgraduate level. You must have a B.Tech degree from a recognized university to be eligible for admission.
