The feeling of being in IIT Roorkee

The curriculum of IITs is top-notch as you all know. It prepares the student well enough for the real world and opens up nearly all opportunities for him/her. I dont think if there is any need of improvement because this is IIT Roorkee the college which has been on the top from 178 years straight. The mid terms dont have gap in between the exams because they are not that difficult but end terms have.

There are many Internship opportunities available for students from first year onwards whether its paid or unpaid based on the work. There is placement and internship cell which handles all this stuff. You must possess skills and have creative project ideas to get an internship ready for you. Stipend starts from 10k monthly which is for a first year undergraduate student.

Placements are good as you all know its IIT. The avg package of all branches is still around 20 LPA . For CS its around 35-40 LPA. And for all other branches its greater than 15 LPA. Im a first year student so i have not seated in placement but there are so many companies that visit iit roorkee for placements, like google,microsoft, ibm, oracle, etc Highest package secured by a student this year is 1.5 crore. Nearly 95 percent of students get placed every year for sure. My plans after degree is to get placed and do my job.

The year wise fee is 293100 rs for general/obc students and for sc/st it is 93100 rs per year. Tution fees is waived off for sc/st which is 200000 rs per year. Total fees include: Hostel fee 30000 Mess fee 55000 Medical insurance 10000 Etc etc There are also scholarships for the one in need like tution fee waiver scheme . In this, The student with family income less than 5 lakh per year can get scholarship for tution fee Family income between 1-5 lakh : 2/3rd tution fee waiver Less than 1 lakh family income : full tution fee waive off. This scholarship is for all general/obc students Also there are many other scholarships which are based on student's academic performance.

There are so many clubs here like i didnt even remeber the names of all. Music , Dance , Drama , Debate , Exploration , Cinsec , ESports , Photography , and many other cultural, technological and sports club. The overall students are also divided in three main organisations called NSO- Sports NSS- Social Service NCC- Cadet Corps There are two major fests of this college called Thomso- Cultual fest which is third largest fest in india Cognizance- Tech fest of iit roorkee There are many opportunities for students whose interest is in sports because there are 26 sports and there facilities available here and Rowing is the exclusive sport of iit roorkee which other iits dont have. Classrooms are good and air conditioned. We have two lecture halls called Gargi and APJ abdul kalam blocks

Hostels are fine but not for first year i should say because first year students here get rajendra bhawan which is oldest hostel of this college in which you have to live in double or triple sharing rooms. But the other way if we think, this is a good thing because students which are leaving there home for the first time should not be left alone in a room. Our meal timings are from 7am to 9am in morning , 12 pm to 2 pm lunch and 8 to 10 pm for dinner. Non veg is also available for wednesday and sunday only The food is also good of all IITs. Registraton process for hostel and mess is completed along with admission process.

I didnt applied for any other colleges other than some iits which were iit bombay, kanpur, roorkee, guwahati. Just these four and nothing because i got a decent rank in JEE Adv 2025. No i didnt get rejection from any college with my rank in jee main and advanced 2025 The admission process is straight like 1) JEE main 2) JEE Advanced 3) Josaa counselling Cutoff for top seven iits is higher than all other iits neans that you cant get into top seven just by qualifying jee advanced, you must have a good rank.

There are enough professors and tutors for students in every branch. Tutors are also PhD scholars from this college which help the students to learn by helping them personally in tutorial classes while professors give lectures to all students in the batch. I like professor Vidit Gaur from Mechanical Dept due to his differant way of teaching because he actually teaches, not lectures us. There are two main exams which is Mid term and End term. If you fail in end term you will get back and you have to give exam next year with your juniors

Night life in IITs is good because canteen is open for 24 hours and each hostel has its own canteen, fruit shop , gym , stationary, study room , TV room, tennis and basketball courts, mess, gardens and lawns. You can even visit other hostels shops. You can stay out of your hostel in campus whole night with your friends and enjoy and for going outside campus you should come before 11 pm. All the places in this campus are safe and best places to roam are mac auditorium , cautley bhawan canteen, lbs circle, etc
