What Students Say
Likes
- The campus of the university is beyond beautiful and homely. Participation in college and university societies paves way for an all rounder development of the students. Facilities like CCF internet facility) is quite commendable.
- Good Placements offered also encourage better future prospects. The library of the university is next level. Kisan mela held two times a year feels like another celebration for the university people.
- Events held in the university with amazing artists offer exposure as well as a unique way to keep the entertainment alive amongst the youth.e
Dislikes
- The hostel rules were rigid especially the entry timings of the girls hostel. The rigidity to take leave by getting it signed by various officials first had been an issue. Although, this was when i was graduating, things might have changed by now.
- The stringent hostel rules were quite difficult to cope with. The strict checking at the university gates though might seem good as per the security but seem harsh sometimes.
- Teaching methods could be made more progressive and technical with time paving way for more practical knowledge. Infrastructure could also be given a push.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is well structured and well designed built for step by step learning. Exams are held frequently. Hourlies were held approx every third month. Marks tlof these hourlies and practicals were added in the ginal exams as well.
Internships Opportunities
Not sure on this one. The masters courses that included mtech offered internship/stipend to its students who were pursuing masters from the college/university. I am unable to recollect the stipend they were offered.
Placement Experience
In final year of btech companies start coming. Maximum students of CSE and IT get placed. Package is min. 3.2Lacs CTC. Both mass recruiters and startups take part in the placement drive. A good number of students get placed. But maximum students of our college opt for higher studies like appearing for GATE, GRE, CAT exams. Further students indulge in preparation for govt services like UPSC, Defence.
Fees and Financial Aid
Since I graduated in 2015-19 batch, I am unaware of the present scenario. But I remember, the hostel fees including room rent, electricity and food charges was approx 20000 per semester to be paid in advance. Also the semester fees was approx 20k-25k per semester for B.Tech. In addition there is one time fees of approx 5k at the time of joining. Plus annual fees approx 5k that needs to be given per year for computer/ internet facility, maintenance, society fee, alumni meet, student aid fund etc.
Campus Life
Fests like litrosphere, colosseum, alumni meet take place each year organised by societies. The library is filled with all the necessary books and that too in bulk. The classrooms are well equipped with furniture and smart classes. The labs were efficient. Sports fest like Spardha take place each year for active participation of students who are sport maniacs. Stevenson stadium is well maintained clean and offers all the opportunities for sports junkies. Sport tournaments at university level are held every year.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel room includes one almirah, one balcony, one bed, 1 table and chair. Based on the years , the room needs to be shared by double/triple individuals. The food quality was good. A food committee that included student representatives and warden constanly monitored the quality of food and the menu.
Admission
I hadnt applied much, i was hopeful for an engineering college. I also got chemistry honours in DU from a reputed all girls college. The fee structure was minimal but the only issue I faced was the unavailabilty of hostel facility which was a major issue for me at that time. Furthermore, based on JEE mains score, getting a btech CSE degree in a good state level engineering college from a renowned university along with hostel sounded far better. Admission to our college is through JEE mains score card.
Faculty
The faculty was okayish. It definitely is proportional to student faculty relationship. Personally I liked Prof.Chetan Negi, Prof. Jalaj Sharma and Prof Dr. Rajeev Singh ( all CS faculty). Their approach towards teaching and towards maintaining cordial relations with students was great. Rest all faculties were also okay. Exams in first year btech include all subjects relating to other streams as well. From second yr btech subjects are course centric. The exam papers are quite difficult in the first year and the marking scheme is also rigid. It is difficult to get through the first year of btech for the ones who take studies lightly. Maximum students get their back in subjects in this year. But things become smooth and easier when you enter second year btech. Paper level is on the higher side but the checking becomes easier. There are 8 semesters in btech and per semester there are approx 5-7 subjects depending on the credits of the subject (per year min total 16 credit subjects to 23 credit subjects). The higher the credit a subject carries and the higher you score in that particular subject, the higher probability of getting a better GPA as compared to scoring high in a lesser credit subject.
Night Life
There is a badi and a choti market for all the essentials. It has small food outlets as well. Apart from this, Gandhi park for hanging out, Gandhi auditorium for events/ activities is also there. A spacious library of 4 floors is also present. Hostel timings for both boys and girls were different. Entry timings for girls was strict.
