GBPEC Admission Dates 2026

Admissions for the 2026 academic session are anchored by JEE Main for B.Tech and GATE for M.Tech, with UTU counselling currently active. B.Tech Lateral Entry and MCA Lateral Entry have separate counselling schedules running through June and July 2026.

B.Tech Lateral Entry admissions follow a separate accelerated counselling schedule with three allotment rounds, as listed below.

M.Tech and Ph.D admissions are governed by GATE scores and a written entrance test respectively, with counselling running June to July 2026. The course-wise exam mapping is as follows.

GBPEC Courses and Fees

GBPEC offers 5 programme levels spanning undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral study in engineering and technology. Annual fees range from INR 30,980 (Ph.D Year 2 onwards) to INR 43,480 (M.Tech and MCA). The table below lists all programme families with duration, eligibility, and total course fees.

The B.Tech programme covers 8 branches: CSE, CSE (AI and ML), ECE, EE, ME, ME (Manufacturing), Civil Engineering, and Biotechnology. Four branches — CSE, ECE, EE, and ME — hold NBA accreditation. M.Tech offers 9 specialisations including Digital Signal Processing, Infrastructure Engineering, Environmental Geotechnology, Production Engineering, and Thermal Engineering. Ph.D programmes are available in Biotechnology, CSE, CSE-Applications, ECE, and ME.

GBPEC Admission Process

GBPEC admissions are conducted through VMSB UTU centralised counselling for all programmes. Selection is merit-based, anchored by national and state entrance exams.

B.Tech Admission

Eligibility requires 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and a minimum of 45% aggregate marks. Candidates must hold a valid JEE Main score. The selection process follows these stages:

• JEE Main score used for UTU merit list preparation
• Registration on UTU counselling portal
• Choice filling and locking of preferred colleges and branches
• Seat allotment in multiple rounds (June to July 2026)
• Document verification at GBPEC
• Fee payment and admission confirmation

UTU allots seats across government and private engineering colleges in Uttarakhand. Candidates from Uttarakhand domicile receive state-quota preference. Candidates should verify the latest round-wise closing ranks on the UTU official portal after each round concludes.

M.Tech Admission

Eligibility requires a B.Tech or B.E. degree in the relevant discipline with a valid GATE score. UK Tech M.Tech counselling is conducted by UTU and runs June to July 2026. Shortlisting is based on GATE score and branch preference.

Ph.D Admission

Eligibility requires an M.Tech or M.E. degree in the relevant discipline, or an M.Sc for Biotechnology. GBPEC issues a notification in April to May, accepts applications through May to June, and conducts a written test and interview in June to July. Results and registration follow in July and August respectively.

MCA Admission

Eligibility requires a BCA, B.Sc (IT), or B.Sc (CS) degree with 50% marks. Admission is through UTU MCA counselling. MCA Lateral Entry is open to candidates with a qualifying BCA or B.Sc (CS/IT) degree.

GBPEC Placements

GBPEC conducts campus placements primarily for B.Tech final-year students. In 2023-24, 102 students were placed with a highest package of INR 12 LPA and a median of INR 4.5 LPA. The 2024-25 season is in progress, with 64+ placements already recorded and a new highest of INR 13.5 LPA in CSE and CSE (AI and ML).

ME recorded the highest branch-level placement rate (32.6%) in 2024-25. Civil Engineering and Biotechnology had no campus placements in 2024-25, making CSE, ECE, EE, and ME the primary placement-facing branches. Top confirmed recruiters include Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Nokia (Aerial Telecom), HCL Technologies, Reliance Industries, Mahindra and Mahindra, ORC Engineering, KEI Industries, BSES, Academor, and PlanetSpark.

GBPEC Rankings

GBPEC participates in the NIRF rankings and secured a position in the 151-200 band in NIRF Engineering 2025. The IIRF B.Tech National ranking has placed GBPEC consistently in the top 60 in recent years. The rankings from major bodies are as follows.

GBPEC Campus and Infrastructure

The GBPEC campus covers 169 acres at Ghurdauri, Pauri Garhwal, at an elevation of 1,700 metres in the Uttarakhand hills. The location offers a focused academic environment, with connectivity to Pauri town and Kotdwar managed by institutional transport.
