Course Curriculum Overview

I liked this biotechnology course in degree(Bsc) and i wanted to continue this course with higher studies. Hence this university is reputed one in Karnataka.. i choose this one and I got the seat and I am very happy for this. The teaching methods are really good but it depends on particular lecturers, how they teach .. For main sem exam the time was around 3 hours for 70 marks and it was moderate and can be manageable

Campus Life

Annually we had main two events like freshers day and send off for seniors in our department.. other than this we had ethnic day, orientation programs and other events which depends on the festival or particular important days we had.. we had good classroom with systems and projector facilities.. we also had sports events which includes most the main games and we can participate in that if we had interest

Faculty

Faculty-to-Student Ratio Usually ranges from 1:10 to 1:20. A lower ratio (closer to 1:10) generally indicates smaller class sizes and more individualized attention. Faculty Approachability In a good environment, faculty maintain regular office hours (usually 3-5 hours per week), respond promptly to emails, and are open to discussing topics beyond the curriculum. Exam pattern - often end semester exams which are often comprehensive and high in difficulty.

Course Curriculum Overview

1. Comprehensiveness - covers foundational theory while offering specialized electives and substantial thesis to ensure depth. 2. Exposure to cutting edge research through seminars led by faculty encouraging critical analysis of current literature. 3. The frequency of exams is comparative good as only end semester exams take place which are moderate in difficulty

Course Curriculum Overview

Well, the subjects of applied sciences always fascinates me as it has power to solve real life problems. Molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, microbiology, biochemistry are all relevant subjects and they are included in this course. Also the research methodology, nanotechnology also included in our course which has ability to solve real world problems. Areas we need to improve is it's practical knowledge they are mostly theory based we need to focus on hands- on training and improving practical skills of students. Course must have practical approach not theoretical approach only! Well exams are not so difficult as our senior suggest because there has been only 2 years that NEP introduced in our syllabus so we are little anxious. But we have enough time to prepare for exams.

Faculty

Well this is my first semester so I don't have much experience but, teachers are overall good they are lacking somewhere but overall performance is good.On early days they are so much punctual but as days pass they are little insensitive. There are 5-6 teachers of different subjects over 22 students in a single class, teachers are not so available for students we need to do more efforts. I like few teachers because they are so punctual and teaches well. In my area Prof. Dewvrat Begde is best. Rita Lakakkul ma'am is also there who is good mentor. We are exams per semester, from our senior we know it's easy to pass but difficult to top the exams. 2 out of 22 failed in exams. Course curriculum is relevant as far as the subject is concerned.

Faculty

Faculty is very qualified, some maintain very good relation and are easily approachable. Faculty who are easily approachable, with good teaching skills and have good class control methods are best in my view. Few professors are arrogant, toxic and not easily approachable. I don't like such. I love the exam pattern. One exam per semester followed by one test, one quiz and one assignment. That's good enough. Its not very easy to pass the exam. Majority get pass. Course curriculum is good except installation of proper laboratory equipment is required for better education.

Course Curriculum Overview

Msc.Biotechnology is a good course. The laboratory aspect has pushed me a bit to make the decision. Curriculum makes us academically good but not good for real world. College laboratory needs improvement in terms of installation of proper laboratory equipments. Teaching skills & class control methods needs improvement. Teaching should be made more industry based and practical based. Exam pattern is good, not very easy to pass, have to work hard to get good marks.

Fees and Financial Aid

Actually I'm upto bsc I really don't paid any fees , because I have qualified for merit . But in the pg level I'm paying 42000 rupees per semester. The tution fees and the lab fees also include these 42000 rupees. All of my classmates are also paying the 42000 per semester but their is some reservation for the backward castes for their upliftment. Several merti-cum means scholarship are available to support students who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need. For eg. National means cum merit scholarship scheme (NMMSS): Award : 12000 rupees per annum Eligibility: Students must have secured atleast 55% marks in class 7 and have a parental income above 1.5 lakhs per annum. Application period Typically between August and October. Details: This centrally sponsored scheme aims to support meritorious students from economically weaker section to continue their education at secondary stages.

Campus Life

Actually I have great experience with my campus ,as I am involved the social, cultural and also sports events that took place in our college. Mainly cultural programs including Arts day ,kalolsavam ,and also some special days like onam , Christmas keral peravi etc..we also celebrate those days and also some cultural programs are also conducted. We have a huge library the students we're provided with an identity card for taking the books .Many of them are utilising oru college library perfectly for their needs. All of the classes have fans and floors have tiles and also smart classes are also provided. When we talk about the sports programs we give more value to girls in sports rather than that of boys . Many of the groups are their like nature's group, NSS ,that's would have huge members ,which would have a great impact in those students who have membership in it .

Faculty

The student to faculty ratio was more comfortable where the student's opinion was listened by the staffs in a friendly manner. I liked Dr.Arun V he was the best professor I came across. He was very friendly with the students and he concentrated on student's knowledge. There were some faculties who were really concern about their research works. There were also alot of politics within the department. The curriculum and the syllubus was very hard but most of the students managed to clear them.

Campus Life

The college had Diwali, Christmas and Pingal festivals where te whole colege had a common celebrating place like Ground, Auditorium etc where a lot of events, games and Stalls were. Ques. How can one clear the JNU entrance for MSc biotechnology?

● Top Answer By Yash Mishra on 10 Nov 21

Ans. Here are some of the tips from my friends at JNU that can help you score well in the entrance for M.Sc Biotechnology.  Clear your basics on core subjects like Biochemistry (Enzyme Kinetics, Bio-Energetics), Genetics, Cell-biology.  Practice probability-related questions. These are quite scoring and there are a good number of questions asked from these topics.  Ecology and Evolution are the other areas that you should stress. If your undergraduate study included immunology developmental biology then you should revise those topics well.  Also, practice from previous year’s question papers. Also, try to cover the last 5 years of GATE life science papers.  Try to do maximum number of questions in both sections of the examination.  There are very few seats available, so prepare sincerely.Read more

My sister is an alumni of Amity University Biotech department and claims it to be one of the best departments of the They have a good research facility and trained faculty. The placements are worth it University. Moreover, Amity University has an extraordinary ambiance that grooms your personality as a whole.  Moreover, I haven't heard of Apeejay so that alone means it's not worth joining. Ques. What is the admission process in MSc Biotechnology in CSJM University (Kanpur University)? How is the placement?

● Top Answer By Deepshika Singh Rathod on 28 Oct 21

Ans. CSJM University Kanpur conducts a separate entrance examination for M.Sc Biotechnology. The admissions are based on the merit list prepared based on the examination.  As for placements, there are little to no placement opportunities for Biotechnology in India. It is a research-based subject. So, most job opportunities are in the R&D sector. But India doesn’t spend much on the R&D budget. That’s why there are not many Biotechnology companies. So, the placement for M.Sc Biotechnology at CSJM University, Kanpur is not good. Read more
