MSc Biotechnology Admission Process

Admission for MSc Biotechnology can take place in two ways – one through direct admission and another through an entrance exam. Top MSc Biotechnology Colleges in India including Government Universities take admission for MSc Biotechnology through Entrance exams. The marks in the entrance exam will determine which students will get admission. These Entrance exams can be All India Central Exams or Entrance exams conducted by the University itself.

Direct Admissions for MSc Biotechnology also take place for MSc Biotechnology Admission. Students are judged on the basis of the marks obtained at graduation. While the actual MSc Biotechnology admission process will differ from institute to institute and from the choice of the required entrance examination, the basic admission process steps are as follows:

  • Step 1: Choose the colleges to study. Look out for the application dates for the entrance examination, if any.
  • Step 2: Once the application window opens, apply for the examination and check other essential details.
  • Step 3: Prepare and sit for the examination. Go through past papers and the examination syllabus for the exam.
  • Step 4: If the candidate has qualified for admission, the application form for the counseling session needs to be filled out from the official examination website. A minimal processing fee also needs to be paid.
  • Step 5: After all important steps are completed, the final admissions list with candidates' names will be up on the examination’s website. Offer letters from colleges will also be sent soon after.

The candidate must now send acceptance to the offer letter and pay to book their seat at the college. This completes the admission process.

MSc Biotechnology Eligibility

For mSc biotechnology it was 25k per semester. The hostel fees are very less around 16k per year but monthly they will charge around 4k for food separately Also we are supposed to pay some breakage fee whixh comes around 1k or 600 for Masters student for others it varies . There are many scholarships also they do give you if you are an obedient and exceptional student.

Faculty:

The quality of professors is great in Science /biotech department .They are helpful and understanding. They will also guide you accordingly. Of course somw professors are not good when they have given the subject out of their expertise but at the same time there are several professprs who teach superb amd instill the research in students.

The faculties here are so educated and have their degree from good universities which is beneficial for the students. Behaviour and helping nature depends on the teacher. Some are very kind and supportive whereas some are rude and they don't like to see students grow. The faculty to student ratio is around 1:3 which allows students to interact with the mentor so well. They are always in a rush to complete the syllabus and so they also take extra classes for the students on weekends sometimes. Presentation skills have developed in all the students due to the constant efforts made by the teachers which is again a plus point in any students' career. Overall the experience here with faculty members is very good.

Campus Life:

There are several clubs like abhinartan which is a dance club, there's a music club, nukkad natak club, and other activities are actively done in the campus. There's so many fest occuring throughout the year from different departments like science fest, cultural fest, law related procrammes, music day, socio day, environmental fest and so many. There's a huge Library with almost all types of books. The departmental library is also well accessed by the students along with computers with data, which makes learning easy. Smart classes are available in each department, AC rooms and proper labs. There's sports day organised by different groups.

If i talk about my department all the faculty members are well qualified and majority of them are good researchers, 3 professor come under the top 2% scientist list by stanford . Most of our faculty members have done their postdoc abroad and all other department has also good faculties. All life sciences departments have research friendly environment , Many of our seniors got PHDs at very esteemed institutes of india like iits , Du and NII etc. So education is quite good at CUH equipped with all modern technologies required for improved teaching.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Our biotechnology course is so relevant weather it is on the basis of CSIR net syllabus or also includes industry-based subjects like Bioinformatics, Omics and agricultural biotechnology etc. Our course also include seminar subject where students are trained to give presentation on research papers which give great exposure to the field of research. It also include IPR so we study about patenting laws , publications everything. so overall our course is really good to study in masters.

Ques. How can one clear the JNU entrance for MSc biotechnology?

● Top Answer By Yash Mishra on 10 Nov 21

Ans. Here are some of the tips from my friends at JNU that can help you score well in the entrance for M.Sc Biotechnology.  Clear your basics on core subjects like Biochemistry (Enzyme Kinetics, Bio-Energetics), Genetics, Cell-biology.  Practice probability-related questions. These are quite scoring and there are a good number of questions asked from these topics.  Ecology and Evolution are the other areas that you should stress. If your undergraduate study included immunology developmental biology then you should revise those topics well.  Also, practice from previous year’s question papers. Also, try to cover the last 5 years of GATE life science papers.  Try to do maximum number of questions in both sections of the examination.  There are very few seats available, so prepare sincerely.Read more

My sister is an alumni of Amity University Biotech department and claims it to be one of the best departments of the They have a good research facility and trained faculty. The placements are worth it University. Moreover, Amity University has an extraordinary ambiance that grooms your personality as a whole.  Moreover, I haven't heard of Apeejay so that alone means it's not worth joining. ● Top Answer By Deepshika Singh Rathod on 28 Oct 21

The admissions are based on the merit list prepared based on the examination.  As for placements, there are little to no placement opportunities for Biotechnology in India. It is a research-based subject. So, most job opportunities are in the R&D sector. But India doesn’t spend much on the R&D budget. That’s why there are not many Biotechnology companies.
