Fees and Financial Aid

> Iam paying semester wise exam fees only > No need to pay joining day > seat allotment fee should pay before joining is mandatory > My batchmates fees are also same as well like mine > But some of people should pay as their category but its very reasonable and worthy for that tuition.

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio were 1:5. The faculty to student relationship was mixed. I mean some were very approachable. And they really helped. At least to the best of their abilities. But some were not approachable at all. I'd rather not name any names due to anonymity. But I liked them because they really helped in whatever cases I presented to them to the best of their ability. Also the ones I didn't like because of their uncanny ability to hold a heavy ground of pretence that they were above and beyond anything ordinary whereas in reality they were vermins. The exams were conducted entirely by the University. The college had nothing to do in that. But most of the students failed in all of the exams.

Campus Life

The only annual festival is the Christmas Carol which is done throughout the Christmas week. The library is filled with obsolete and unnecessary books and journals and the ones that are actually important are not available to students. The college charges a fortune for their facilities and everything else but there is no provisions of the said facilities. The annual sports is held only in the January each year and apart from that there is no other extracurricular activities. There is no student run social groups or clubs or anything else in this institution.

Internships Opportunities

You have to apply for your internships yourself. The professors do share whatever opportunities they get. The staff does help you in providing the letter of recommendations, bonafides, and other things. The office people are really helpful. Most internships are merit based, some with interviews. Stipend ranges from 7000 a month to 15000 depending on the place you're going to. Do start looking for the internships early on to not miss any. The projects are based on our subjects - inorganic, organic, physical, material chemistry.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is both relevant and comprehensive, covering core theoretical knowledge as well as practical aspects that are essential in today’s competitive environment. One of the main reasons I chose this course was its well-structured modules that include industry-oriented subjects, project-based learning, and opportunities for skill development through workshops and seminars. The inclusion of electives that allow specialization in areas of interest also played a key role in my decisions.

Course Curriculum Overview

I got interest in chemistry since my 12th class. I decided to study Chemistry Hons from Hindu College ( Best college for science in India as per NIRF Rankings) For masters, I chose IIT Delhi, which is again second best institute in the country. Questions in exams in IIT are relatively tough than your expectations. However, questions will come only from the topics taught by the professors in the class. Some teachers use both chalk and ppt method , while some use only chalk which is good. While some use only ppt which can be improved

Fees and Financial Aid

The course fees is approximately 50000 per year. For the first semester, the fees is relatively higher than the other semesters as it includes security amount as well. The security so paid will be refunded after the completion of the course. Hostel fees and mess fees is paid separately. SC/ST students pay little bit lesser course fees. I got scholarship also which was 1000/- per month for two years. Students who score minimum of 8 CGPA and whose income is lesser than 5 lakhs can apply for this scholarship.

Faculty

Most of the faculty are very professional and they provide notes too but they expect us to learn those notes like we are in school and also due to regular classes and lab we don't have much time left for self study and we don't read too many books. We only study the required topic in the books rather than reading the whole book . Well most of our faculty members are approachable and understanding. They also encourage us for studying further and provide guidance. As I have already said there are semester system so there are two type of exams, internals which held monthly for 3 months and externals which are the final exams which get checked outside the college but internals are checked by our teachers.

Course Curriculum Overview

Chemistry is a subject that has been used in literally everything like pharmaceuticals, industrial work and teaching too. There are our teachers who help us to do experiments in the lab since chemistry is a practical subject so need to have a good knowledge of practicals but sometimes due to lack of chemicals and lack of good machines there is some difficulty in obtaining results In order to improve the whole thing first we need to fix the devices and have a good budget for apparatus too. The 1st and 3rd semester are quite long while the 2nd and 4th semester are quite short but the syllabus in these are almost same so we need to change the weightage of syllabus according to semester.

Faculty

Faculty to student ratio is 1.3. In classroom teachers are soo helpful but sometimes the way of teaching needs to get changed. But in lab teachers are very very strict. Some teachers tought students are their slave,i need to mention not all the teachers. Even my PI is very strict. Rach course will have mid sem and end sem, depending upon the teachers quiz system keeps changing. Again the grading policies depend upon the teacher.

Course Curriculum Overview

For me it seems ok. But the question which comes in exams mostly moderate to difficult. Teaching method sometimes need to change because they need to understand all students are not same and to bting them in one page they need to change their teaching style. The whole semester contains only exam, exam and exam.

Ques. Between an M.Sc chemistry in BITS Hyderabad and CSE in VIT, which is better?

● Top Answer By Bidita Ghose on 22 Dec 23

Ans. Based on mine and my friends’ experiences, here are some points I would like for you to consider in this regard- The branch should always be your top priority. For a dual degree in CSE at BITS Hyderabad, you’ll need to score more than 7.6 CG. That would mean an average +30 in most subjects (relative grading). Phoenix Dual is a better option than VIT CSE. Dual degree will take away a lot from your campus life. You won’t be able to enjoy clubs and events to the fullest. BITS Hyderabad undoubtedly has a better crowd quality. Moreover, it carries the prestigious ‘BITS’ tag. BITS will give you a more quality campus experience with better academics. The decision has to be made by you, but I hope that these points will guide you. Whatever you choose, make sure to maintain a good academic performance in college, so that you end up getting decent job offers.Read more

Ques. How is integrated MSc. in chemistry at SVNIT Surat?

● Top Answer By Trisha Sharma on 06 Jan 24

Ans. Here are my insights as a former iMSc. Chemistry student at SVNIT- Do not enroll into iMSc. Chemistry simply for the NIT tag. Do so only if you have a passionate interest in this course. You’ll have to put in a lot of effort from your own side. The faculty is very talented and the library has a good collection of books related to this field. But all of that will only help if you study religiously.  You’ll get a good understanding of the concepts of Chemistry through theoretical and practical sessions. The last semester will have dissertation work, which will be your introduction to the field of research.  The NIT tag will help you land good internships. You’ll get ample guidance from your teachers, but they can’t do the work for you. So you’ll have to search for good internships and projects all by yourself. The future of this stream mainly lies in research work and teaching. Institutes like Resonance, Akash, etc. visit the department with teaching vacancies.  These are the important details on integrated MSc. in Chemistry at SVNIT. The college offers good extracurricular activities, but don’t expect this journey to be all about fun.Read more

Ques. I have been studying for an MSc in chemistry from IIT Hyderabad, but my 12 marks are just 61.5%. Will I qualify for a PhD abroad?

● Top Answer By Divya Saraf on 20 May 23

Ans. For a PhD, class 12th marks are given considerably less importance given that your graduation and post-graduation grades are great. For a Ph.D. abroad, since you will be seeking direct admission into the university and not approaching a specific professor, your past academics matter a lot. Having good class 12 marks, graduation, and post-graduation marks will improve your chances of admission and it’s always better to play safe. In case of average marks, you have the option to write to a professor in Europe who is working in a field that aligns with your research project topic. If you share a common ground with any professor you can get admission by skipping the entire formal admission procedure although you might have to appear for some interviews that will evaluate your research caliber. Overall, my recommendation is to apply everywhere as long as money is not involved. In cases you are required to send documents or GRE scores you need to be careful.Read more

Ques. Where can I get the previous years' MSc chemistry entrance examination questions papers of Aligarh Muslim University?

● Top Answer By Nilima Pandey on 14 Aug 20

Ans. The previous year's examination question papers of Aligarh Muslim University can not be found on the internet. The main reason behind that is AMU does not make their paper public. If you want the previous year's papers, contact the members of the seminar library of the AMU chemistry department. Or else you can check the Maulana Azad Library about the previous year's papers of MSc. If you know any research scholars in the department, they might help you. Moreover, in Aligarh, there is a Shamshad market, famous for bookstores. You can buy reference books, previous year papers, etc. from the bookstores there.Read more

Ques. How is Kurukshetra University for MSc in chemistry?

● Top Answer By Srinjini Roy on 20 Oct 21

Ans. I have a friend who completed his M.Sc in Chemistry from Kurukshetra University. He advises against joining the institute. According to him, it’s better to prefer a central university or an IIT for your M.Sc degree.  Only the Organic Chemistry department is good. The other departments of Chemistry are not that great. The research culture is also not that effective. Only the first year of your M.Sc degree will be worth it. The final year is more like a formality at Inorganic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry department. Read more

Ques. Is Jiwaji University Gwalior good for an M.Sc. in chemistry?

● Top Answer By Yash Mathur on 11 Oct 21

Ans. The Department of Chemistry of Jiwaji University Gwalior has some of the best labs in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The alumni network does not let any of the graduate students sit idle and waste their time. A lot of the students, however, do not have respect for the university as the pattern of the exams is not regular and the classes are just as irregular.  There are usually 10 available seats and selection in this college is carried out on the basis of an entrance exam. Here the fees are much more reasonable than other colleges. If you study here, you may not get the best exposure but if you work hard, you could have the chance of succeeding also.Read more

Ans. You should choose Chandigarh University for an M.Sc in Chemistry.  The department has state-of-the-art laboratories to perform practicals for Physical, Organic, and Inorganic Chemistry.  CU used teaching aids such as PPTs, Models, Animated Videos, Charts, etc.  Many activities are organized throughout the academic year to encourage learning outside the classroom. The faculty pool for Chemistry is excellent. CU encourages students to publish research papers during their last semester.  In terms of academics, learning resources, and facilities, CU will be better than HPU. Read more
