Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum is both relevant and comprehensive, covering core theoretical knowledge as well as practical aspects that are essential in today’s competitive environment. One of the main reasons I chose this course was its well-structured modules that include industry-oriented subjects, project-based learning, and opportunities for skill development through workshops and seminars. The inclusion of electives that allow specialization in areas of interest also played a key role in my decisions.

Internships Opportunities

5

You have to apply for your internships yourself. The professors do share whatever opportunities they get. The staff does help you in providing the letter of recommendations, bonafides, and other things. The office people are really helpful. Most internships are merit based, some with interviews. Stipend ranges from 7000 a month to 15000 depending on the place you're going to. Do start looking for the internships early on to not miss any. The projects are based on our subjects - inorganic, organic, physical, material chemistry.

Placement Experience

4

Campus placements are offered but I am still in my first year so I have no idea. Students usually go for higher studies (PhD) after master's. Clearing entrances becomes a task. They d offer campus placements it's not that intense as it should be.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise few is around 8000 rupees with all the examination fee, lab fee, admission fee, etc included. We have to pay a security of around 1000 approximately. The fee structure was same for everyone except the ones who applied for scholarships and other yojanas under the government.

Campus Life

4

The campus life is quite good. Department of chemistry doesn't organise fests and other things as such but the other departments do and you are free to join them . We have Zakir Hussain Library for each and every book we need. It is well equipped. The only problem I have is with the infrastructure of the classrooms. Sports and other extracurricular activities are highly motivated and joined in by the students.

Admission

I started my master's in Chandigarh University before joining Jamia. We have to clear an entrance for JMI. In comparison, it is much better than Chandigarh University. The fee for Jamia is around 16000 for the course , whereas it's around 1.5 lakh there. Then comes the professors. They are much experienced and better in Jamia. The study material, syllabus everything is based on entrances and deep knowledge of the subject here in Jamia.

Faculty

5

The faculty and students relationship is quite cordial and the professors are approachble. It is built out of mutual respect, trust and open communication. The office staff and the lab one are very helpful too. The material chemistry staff is exceptionally good. Though some professors do focus on reading instead of learning. The exams are very frequent. You get two mid terms. Then the end semester exams. And practicals too.

Night Life

2

The reading rooms are open till 2 at night with the teachers and students still there studying. Food stalls are present with an overall pleasant environment. The cafeteria is okayish but not very good , affordable though. You have tikona park, community centre, Shaheen bagh market etc for markets to roam around. I don't think it's very safe to go around anywhere at night in Delhi.

Other Applied Colleges

Chandigarh University - [CU] | Master of Science [M.Sc] (Chemistry)

The college was not very fit for master's students with its rigorous schedule and strict attendance issues and no time for internships.

Mehr Chand Mahajan Dayanand Anglo Vedic College for Women - [MCM DAV] | Master of Science [M.Sc] (Chemistry)

There were no placements.

Remarks:

I have enjoyed my Masters at this college. It was a good experience studying here. The faculty was humble skilled and polite that I have faced no major issue in any subject. The library was having enough books related to subjects and also outside the syllabus. Overall experience was quite good in Dr B.R. Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research.

Positive thing is that faculty and department is very good. Campus is so good and clean. More importantly, in delhi to get such a beautiful campus is totally a bliss. Negitive thing is that politics is included in every thing.

ISI life is definitely a colourful one. You will have your study pressure, but besides that it will offer you to live independently. You can participate in various sports and cultural activity. And I can surely tell you, no other institute offer such low investment in education with big returns, be it grabbing a handsome package in a big corporate or reputed university in USA or Europe.
