BSc Nursing course is a 4-year long degree that students can pursue after completing their 10+2. BSc Admissions are done through the NEET-UG exam on a national level. Many states also conduct their own entrance tests for admission to BSc Nursing.

Why Should I Pursue a BSc Nursing Course?

There is a huge demand for nurses in India. As per WHO norms, there should be 3 nurses for a population of 1,000 people. But in India, the ratio falls to 1.7 to 2 nurses per 1,000 people. This shows that there is a lot of space for new nurses in the medical industry.

The salary after completing BSc Nursing is typically 3-5 LPA. Experienced nurses have a much higher salary. One can also aim for a high salary in Nursing by completing higher education and becoming more specialised. Students who go into academia after completing BSc Nursing also receive an impressive salary.

Want to be a nurse? Here's what you need to know about BSc Nursing!

In this video, Ayush tells you everything you need to know about the BSc Nursing course: what it is, whom it is for, what entrance exam you need to provide, what is the cost, and what salary you can look forward to upon completion of the course. Must-watch if you’re joining the health sector and looking for a secure and lucrative career.

Main points of the video:

What is BSc Nursing? A 4-year nursing curriculum with strong demand in healthcare today and in the years to come
Conditions of Eligibility: You need to pass Class 12 in PCB (Biology, Chemistry, Physics). Students with math in lieu of biology do not qualify.
Entrance Exam is Mandatory: Admission is henceforth made based on NEET examination rankings. The higher your rank, the more preferred college you can obtain.
Course fees: Government Colleges: The fees are extremely low, approximately INR 5,000 to INR 10,000 annually.
Private Colleges: They have higher fees, varying from one college to another. Typically INR 2.5 to 4 lakh for the entire course.
Beginning Salary After BSc Nursing: Starting salary is normally between INR 15,000 and INR 18,000 monthly, which rises based on experience. In larger hospitals, it goes up to even INR 30,000 - INR 35,000 in due course of time.
Key Tip: If you opt for any private college, ensure that it is accredited and has well-qualified faculty and infrastructure before enrolling.

Fees and Financial Aid

In my college for a course BSC nursing the charge a fee annually 1.35 lakh and my batchmates have a different fees structure on the bases of the sources or connection with the management it has low to my fees or some other batchmates and at a part of the scholarship I am belong to the OBC (other backward class) so I get only a scholarship of 33 thousands rupees only and some time that all don't get and at the categories like SC or ST they get a scholarship of 70000 way are the so difference in categories scholarship pattern and they have low fees in college for courses . I think that everyone should treat same way and pattern don't have somebody so much and somebody doesn't get a single penny. I suggested that government should change the policies to maintain the system

Faculty

The faculty student ratio was quite decent every year for different subjects. For every subjects faculty student ratio was 1 faculty for around 30 students. Some faculties were so Good like Mrs. Anju and Mrs. Ranjitha they were so helpful throughout our whole University days. Their teaching merhods and methods of explaining the soft skills and providing practical knowledge in classroom settings were commendable enough. No complaints on any faculty members but I think they need to improve or replace some of non teaching staffs and management staffs. University conducted 2 examinations every year, one internal examination and a final examination every year. In my opinion internal examinations were of moderate difficulty and final examinations were hard to clear, you have to be very thorough with the books and study materials and need core knowledge about the topics. Have to be very steady and utilize every second of the time given to complete the examination. Around 5 6 students were unable to clear the exams in final year and they had to go through the supplementary examinations.

Campus Life

Experience of campus life was good it was loaded with annual cultural programs, Nurses day celebrations and they organized various workshops regarding health promotion and spreading awareness throughout the community. Many regional festivals like Saraswati puja, pongal, onam were celebrated gorgeously in campus. Libraries are loaded with lots of books and journals relevant to our studies and research purposes. These were very helpful on our research projects conducted under the guidance of our faculties. Classrooms are well equipped with anatomical structures and projectors for better understanding of the theories we digested from the books. University promotes sport and other extra curricular activities by sports day, yoga day and all. They recently built a arena for the promotion of extra curricular activities.

Ques. Which is better for ug university college of medical sciences (ucms) or vmmc?

● Top Answer By Akriti Banerjee on 25 Sept 23

Ans. As a student of UCMS, I will try to enlighten you about my college. Location- It is true that UCMS is located in the periphery of Delhi, and its surrounding is not as developed as that of VMMC. Regardless, the location of UCMS offers most of the facilities required for a good college life. You can access Cinepolis, PVR and Big Cinemas from here, reach CP in 20-30 minutes by metro/private vehicle, and catch a metro from Jhilmil metro station to explore Delhi/NCR.  Campus- UCMS has a beautiful campus, the best among Delhi medical colleges. It has a huge central field where you can play cricket, basketball, football, etc. Boys get single seater hostel rooms from the first year itself. The campus has two 24*7 canteens, a book shop from where you can access all your medical books, an ATM, and a post office. The hospital has undergone renovation, and looks new and well managed. Academics- UCMS offers excellent academics. The faculty is skilled and teaches with sincerity. The Histology Lab in the Anatomy department is really good.  Extracurriculars- UCMS has a sports society, a western dance team, a theme choreography team, a dramatics team, a musical society, a literary society and a medical education unit. You can join any of these. According to me, both UCMS and VMMS are good medical colleges. You can choose the latter if location is a concern to you, otherwise, UCMS is a good choice too.Read more

MBBS is a 5-year program for candidates who wish to become doctors with a wide field of practice and greater earnings. B.Sc. Nursing is a 4-year program that prepares students to work as nurses, providing patient care and support under a doctor's supervision. The choice usually depends on one's interest, aptitude, career goals, and willingness to commit to the duration of study required for each program. MBBS gives more autonomy and decision-making power, whereas B.Sc. Nursing provides learning for direct patient care.
