- The college is the mother institute of nursing in West Bengal. As a result it is well disciplined with knowledgeable teachers who are strict ,punctual and well disciplined.
- The quality of social interactions are very high as ward duty is a part of our course.So,we have to deal with patients everyday since first year.This made us social and enhanced our management skills
- Teaching methods include ppt along with detailed lectures from faculty, also Nursing skills are taught specially in Labs for every Nursing procedure and technique.
Dislikes
- Very strict environment, only female in the course.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose this course as it makes us disciplined and trained for any future jobs.The curriculum provides extreme possibilities for real world applications.I would like the clinical hours to be reduced. The frequency and timing of exams are easy to give if one studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearly educatíon fees for 1st year was 349 and for second year it was 339.Students will less annual family income(approx below 3.5 lakhs per annum)get a scholarship of approx 60,000 per year under SVMCM .
Campus Life
We have cultural programs during Basant Panchami, Republic day, Annual Sports meet in January, educational tour in January. The range of books are enormous in our library. The facilities and technologies are up to date with white boards, projectors, charts .
Admission
My rank was within 250 .I was eligible for admission in every nursing colleges in West Bengal.I choose this college as it is the mother institute and topmost nursing college in West Bengal. No,I didn't get a rejection from other colleges. The admission process is simple. We have to pass class 12 with 60 percent marks and give a competitive exam called JENPAS UG ,where the rank for unreserved candidates should be under 350 and for reserved candidates rank must be within 1160. There are three rounds of admission. The process is smooth.
Faculty
The faculty student ratio is approx 1:20.The faculty student relationship is very good.They are always available for help and to make us grow. We can approach them anytime between 7am in the morning to 1am at night. I liked Madam A.Saha as she trained us very well during our first year.I like Madam J.Bhaduri as she always teaches us something from everyday life.She is very knowledgeable. I like our Principal Madam A.Bagchi as she manages our college very well and gives special attention to our mental health.I like madam P.Sau as she teaches us very well.I like madam A.Jana for her comforting nature and practical experience. I like madam N.Batabyal for her skill teaching and explaining in details. There are 2 internal exams and one semester.In total we have 8 semesters.Exams are easy if we study the syllabus and follow our teacher's advice.Normally 3-4 students fail.The course is extremely relevant.
Night Life
There are cafeterias open upto 11pm. HOSTEL is present within college campus.Outpass timing is upto 8pm at night. Famous hangout places include Nandan, Maidan,Victoria Memorial, Alipore Zoological Garden located within 2 km. Locality is safe at night with security guards and police postings.
