BSc Nursing 2nd Year Subjects 

The syllabus of BSc Nursing Second year includes core as well as elective subjects. The syllabus of the second year is mainly focused on providing practical knowledge and becoming aware of essential aspects of medicine and nursing. Psychiatric Nursing 

• Concepts of Psychobiology - This includes the nervous system, anatomical review, nerve tissue, autonomic nervous system, neuroendocrinology, genetics, neuropsychiatric disorders, psychoimmunology etc. 
• Theories of personality development and relevance to nursing practice - This subject includes psychoanalytic theory- Freud’s, Interpersonal Theory, theory of Psychosocial development, theory of object relations, theory of model development etc.

Medical-Surgical Nursing

• Introduction - This subject includes an introduction to medical-surgical nursing, a review of concepts of health and illness, a review of concepts of comprehensive nursing care in medical-surgical conditions based on the nursing process, the role of nurses and patients etc.
• Introduction to Medical Surgical asepsis - This includes Inflammation and infection, Immunity, Wound healing, care of surgical patients, pre-operative, intra-operative etc.

Operation Theatre Techniques

This subject includes various techniques of Operation Theatre and knowledge of all the equipment used. This subject includes infection prevention in the operation theater, preoperative care and preparation of the patient for operation, assessment of infection, preoperative hair removal, patient skin preparation, management of infected or colonized surgical processes etc.

• International health- This includes the global burden of disease, global health rules, international quarantine, health tourism, disaster management, migration, international agencies etc. 

Microbiology 

• General characteristics of Microbes- This includes structure and classification of microbes, morphological types, size and form of bacteria, colonization, microbes, temperature, blood and body fluids etc.
• Infection Control- This infection, their sources, portals of entry and exit transmission, Asepsis, Disinfection, sterilization etc.
• Pathogenic organisms- This includes Microorganisms, cocci, viruses, fungi, parasites, rodents & vectors, characteristics etc. 
• Immunity - This includes Immunity, Antigen, Hypersensitivity, serological tests, Immunoprophylaxis, immunization schedule etc.
