Kumaun University is a state university established in 1973 spread over an area of 160 acres. The University has three campuses. These campuses are D.S.B. Campus, Nainital, SSJ Campus, Almora, and Campus at Bhimtal. More than 65 affiliated colleges to Kumaun University including 49 government colleges.

Kumaun University Admissions
Admission to all UG courses except B.Ed and LLB is done based on the merit of the 10+2 examination. Admission to B.Ed and LLB is based on Kumaun University Entrance Examination.
Admission to all PG courses is based on the merit of a Bachelor's degree. The bachelor's degree must be from a recognized university. Admission to M.Ed and MBA is done through the Kumaun University Entrance Exam. MBA selection is done on the basis of entrance exam or through merit.
For admission to Ph.D. courses, the candidate must have a Master's degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate from a recognized university. Selection is done by the Research Degree Entrance Test (RDET).

Admissions for the 2025–26 academic session at Kumaun University, Nainital, are currently open for both Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) programs
Kumaun University (KU), Nainital does not offer a Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed) program. However, some of the courses offered may be available through affiliated colleges?
