IIT Jammu, established in 2016, is an autonomous public higher education institute. It was developed under the mentorship of IIT Delhi. It is accredited by AICTE and recognized by the UGC. IIT Jammu Admission Process 2025

For BTech admissions at IIT Jammu, candidates first must appear for the JEE Mains exam. The top 2,50,000 rank holders of JEE Main (across all categories) are eligible to apply for the JEE Advanced exam. After this, the candidate should appear for the JoSAA counselling. The JoSAA Counselling has 6 rounds.

Visit josaa.nic.in and register using your JEE Main application number and password.
Select the course and preference in the drop-down menu.
JoSAA conducts 6 rounds of counselling based on the JEE Main Ranks.
Accept the seat through fee payment and document submission.

IIT Jammu Scholarships

IIT Jammu offers scholarships to its UG & PG students based on their merit and needs. The institute invites applications from students each year during each semester, providing scholarships under three categories, namely Institute Merit-cum-means scholarship, Institute Freeship Scholarship, and Institute Free Messing Scholarship. The eligibility to avail of these scholarships is mentioned below:

Institute Merit-cum-Means Scholarship- The MCM scholarship is provided to only 25% of the specific category students. The new entrants can avail of this scholarship based on their JEE ranks. For the existing students, the eligibility criteria to apply for this scholarship are that they must have secured a CGPA & SGPA of not less than 6.0. The annual income of parents/ family should not be more than INR 4.50 Lakhs.
Institute Freeship Scholarship- Under this scholarship scheme, the economically weaker students shall be eligible for the remission of tuition fees. However, students having a family/ parents’ income ranging between INR 1 Lakh to INR 4.5 Lakhs can only avail of this scholarship.
Institute Free Messing Scholarship- Candidates belonging to the SC/ ST/ PwD category can avail of this scholarship. All the SC and ST candidates are exempted from paying the tuition fees during each semester. They will also be given the facility of free messing and a pocket allowance of INR 250.

Students view on course curriculum

Course curriculum design in a very good ways. That you cover all the aspects of computer programming and yours departmental courses and get placed good better company. This course is covered all the topics which is required for the placement. Teaching methods are good ,but it will give us more exposure of we start more focusing on practical. In IIT Jammu students gave four exam in one semester class test-1, mid sem, class test-2,end sem. Time gaps between 2 exams is 1 month.

Paid internship opportunity provided by the college

In IIT Jammu have many more opportunities for internship and placement.recently Flipkart wants to hire students from my college as software development engineer & full time intern. Salary INR 32 LPA for SDE and 1 Lakh/month for tech intern.

If you are 7th or 8th semester then you can eligible for campus placements. For placement many company visited in IIT Jammu like Infosys,TCS, Paytm, Amazon , Samson. Highest package at IIT Jammu is 53 LPA , and average package at IIT Jammu is 17.6 LPA . Placement percentage is 85% students get placed. After getting degree i will get placed and doing my work.

What is the total fees of the course and various facilities available in the college?

Mess fee per semester in IIT Jammu is 24000 rs and institute fee is 30650 rs which also includes hostel fee and other facilities like sports equipments , Wi-Fi etc. tution fee is one lac but it's depends on family income and category. There is a college scholarships if students are eligible they can get free mess ships.

IIT Jammu is full of festivals . Here we celebrate all festival of india. We enjoyed dj night, fresher's party, and fests of our college. You can easily get any book from library . Class rooms are well designed and spacious with projector classes. In IIT Jammu gives you extracurricular activities offered on campus. You can be a part of inter IIT sports competition. Here is many types of club like coding club, robotic club etc.

the classrooms are also good here , centralised ac , good sitting facility .
i also liked the gym here , i am a weighlifter so i wanted a good gym , that we have here , i recently visited iit indore and i can openly say our gym is far better than them.

Dislikes

i also feel the lack of a good ground , we only have one ground as of now , that is used for football, atheletics , cricket and all, that too is quite small compared to i saw in many colleges .

Admission:

i got this college based on my jee advanced rank , i applied for some better iits but my rank was not upto it . i got 3778 obc rank which got me electrical branch in iit jammu. i also got 5431 obc rank in jee mains that was giving me chance to get cs in lower iits or electrical type branch in nit kurukshetra or other iiits , but i chose iit over iiits and nits beacuse of branch name .

I choose this college over other colleges because it had a bery great progress in past few years as its NIRF rankings also improved by a big gap . The placements are almost 100 % . It is also very beautiful and we have regular visits to nearby villages and forests

Admission:

As I was getting only this college so I choose this college. The admission process of my college is based on josaa counciling which is based on your jee advanced rank. The exam is quite tough and need serious efforts to clear the exam.

There is also club for placements called "career development service''
There is Mentorship Program For Freshers so that can know the culture of campus

Work To Build Sports Complex and New Academic Block is running

There is entrance exam called JEE-advanced for admission into IIT's. And There is JOSSA counseling For Admission Process. We can easily find examination and application forms in their respective websites. there is 10% EWS , 27% OBC-NCL , 15% SC and 7.5% ST category reservation in seats

The entrance in the btech program of any branch is on the basis of Jee Advanced rank and as this is the 3rd Gen IIT so one can get into this at a somewhere high rank also. And Jee advanced happens after 2 session of Mains

College is just in nature, no pollution ,no rushes and beautiful sky.

Dislikes

Management in hosting fests, programs are not that top notch.

Admission:

To be eligible to give exam of jee mains and advanced you need to get 75% in your respective boards or in top 80 percentile for gen/obc/EWS. For sc/st the same is for 65% . Last year cutoff for gen was 90.2percentile .

Should I go for NSIT IT or IIT Jammu Mechanical?

No matter what anyone says, one cannot underestimate the value an IIT tag holds in shaping your career and opening doors of opportunities you did not know existed. You will have a certain confidence over non-IITians and you will thus strive everywhere you go. Moreover, the quality and number of recruiters an IIT attracts is unmatched.

IT at NSUT Delhi won't do you much good because CSE has overtaken IT and is no longer the most coveted branch. The mechanical branch however still has its charm and will continue to do so in the future. So it's not advisable to join a branch that is losing its charm gradually. Here are some additional points to consider

The campus facilities are also better at IIT obviously because it's a government college.
Students have access to the internet 24/7 which is not possible in NSUT Delhi.
IIT Jammu has amazing sports facilities like a cricket net, football ground, badminton courts, basketball court, table tennis room, volleyball court, chess, and carrom. There is also a TV room with all HD channels, for recreation.
Students are offered laundry services too.
Several cultural and technical clubs like drama, dance, literature, art, music, coding, robotics, etc. promote extracurricular activities largely.

The above points might have convinced you to choose IIT Jammu over NSIT.

How do IIM and IIT students from Jammu (J & K) study in a conflict environment? Do their parents allow them to study there?

Unlike the general misconception, Jammu is as safe as any other city in India. Only Kashmir is inflicted by riots and has a conflict environment. My sister had no doubts when she made the decision to pursue MBA from IIM Jammu. In fact, even our parents did not worry about her relentlessly.

As a part, a little concern on their part is justified. But if the riots and conflicts are the reason your parents can rest assured as Jammu is a very safe city.

Moreover, IITs and IIMs are institutes of great national importance. Hence strict regulations are imposed to maintain safety within the campus.

Which one is better for pursuing engineering in India IIIT Delhi, NIT Kurukshetra, or IIT Jammu?

If you want to go to a technical branch then Delhi Technological University (DTU) should be your first choice.

DTU has a good placement record, over 300 companies come for recruitment. Its research facility is also good.
IIIT Allahabad has a good coding culture where over 110 companies come for campus placement.
NIT Kurukshetra has a better placement record than IIT Jammu but IIT Jammu has a name tag with it.

In the following table, you will get basic information about IIIT Allahabad, IIIT Delhi, NIT Kurukshetra, DTU, and IIT Jammu.

Although IIT Jammu is fairly new, it offers wonderful opportunities in terms of internships, project-based work, full-time jobs, and placements.

Curriculum:

Since the administration is under IIT Delhi, the entire curriculum and structure are designed by the institute.

Faculty:

Most of the faculty members of EE are young and have good research experiences. Many of them have PhDs and PostDocs from reputed IITs and universities abroad.
The faculties at the institute are approachable. If you show interest in research work, they can also include you in their research work. You can also seek help from Ph.D. students.

Laboratories:

The institute offers fully-functional and well-designed practical labs for main courses in Electrical Engineering such as Control and Power systems, Analog and Electrical Machines.

Placements:

IIT Jammu had the first placement drive in 2020. According to the placement report the average CTC offered was 8 LPA.
The highest placement within the EE branch as of now is 31 LPA by Amazon.

Projects:

You can pursue many projects at IIT Jammu. The lab work includes projects which make up for nearly 20 to 30% of the entire course.
Students can get hands-on practical experience through the Robotics and Electronics club as well. It is easily possible for students to even create their own projects.

Therefore, IIT Jammu is a great place for a program in EE.

IIT Jammu offers hostel facilities for both boys and girls. For boys, the total hostel fee is Rs 45000, in this total mess fee is Rs.37000. For girls, the total hostel fee is Rs 43,000, in which total mess fee is Rs 35000.
