IIT Roorkee M.Des Industrial Design: Fees 2025, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. The final-year students who have a relevant UG degree but have yet to receive their final year mark sheet can apply for the IIT Roorkee MDes program. In this case, candidates will be allowed to appear in the interview on the basis of their aggregate results up to the pre-final year which should not be less than 60% (55% for SC/ST/PD). 

Ans. Candidates who have completed a 4-year UG degree in any discipline with Mathematics as one of the major subjects are eligible to apply for the IIT Roorkee MDes program. However, aspirants are also required to have full-time work experience of 2 years in a Registered Firm/Company/Industry/Educational and Research Institution/Govt./Quasi Govt./Autonomous Organization. 

Ans. IIT Roorkee follows a system of academic registration that includes the timely online registration of the students. After online registration, they are required to report physically for document verification. On completion of the document verification process, students should report to the concerned Head of the Department and submit the joining report.

Ans. IIT Roorkee offers an MDes program that involves the curriculum of Industrial Design. The course structure of this program includes Design and Prototyping, Design Thinking, Product-Human Interface, Materials and Manufacturing, Design Methods, Visual Design, Form Studies, Computer-Aided Design, and Design for Sustainability

Ans. IIT Roorkee allows female candidates to take direct admission under the scheme of Golden Girl Scheme. Students who are the first rank holder from an IIT/ University within the top 50 ranks are granted admission to the MDes program under this scheme. Also, candidates are exempted from the requirement of All-India Level exam. The selection is based on the interview conducted by the department.
