Fees and Financial Aid

NIT Raipur B.Tech Fee Structure (2024-25) The total fee for the first semester is Rs. 1,07,800. This includes a tuition fee of Rs. 62,500, admission fees of Rs. 20,000, and other charges such as a caution money deposit (refundable) of Rs. 10,000. For subsequent semesters, the tuition fee remains Rs. 62,500, but the total payable amount decreases as the one-time charges are no longer applicable. The total fees per semester are: First Sem: Rs. 1,07,800 Second Sem: Rs. 70,300 Third Sem: Rs. 68,930 Fourth Sem: Rs. 68,390 Fifth Sem: Rs. 68,540 Sixth Sem: Rs. 68,000 Seventh Sem: Rs. 68,170 Eighth Sem: Rs. 67,630 The image also notes that students whose parents' income is below Rs. 1 lakh per annum are exempt from tuition fees. Those with an income between Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 5 lakh are required to pay a tuition fee of Rs. 20,833 per semester. It appears the tuition fees remain constant over the four years of the program. And same goes for sc / st they are also exempt from tution fees. Like ews students have to pay 60000 each year similarly , 1 lakh to 5 lakh regime peoples have to pay 17000 per year , sc/st student also have to pay 7200 per year . There are mainly scholarship but I am aware with 2 of them only one is provided by ONGC for the OBC students based on merits , and one is by state government.

Campus Life

There are 3 or 4 fest held in a year eclectika is a annual cultural fest which held in month of February, annual sports fest is samar held in January month , technical fest is technocracy which is generally held in February. There are plenty of books and you can easily access them in library . There are good faculties provided like projector some good softwares required for different branches but there is scope of improvement in the benchs . There any many opportunities over sports you can compete between the branches if you are good at game you are selected for the interview nit drive to compete with the other nits . There are plenty of social groups in insta , whatsapp etc and there any many committees like financial, rajbhasha and much more to explore .

Fees and Financial Aid

The course fee per year is one lakh thirty five thousand rupees and for hostel and mess it wil bes almost 60000 per year and at the time of admission, extra admission fee, caution fee deposit fee of almost 20000 should pay. But there will be fee remission depending upon the category and annual income of parents . For sc and st students there will ne no tuition fee. If the annual income is less than 1 lakh then for them also there will be no tuition fee. Every year the fee structure is increasing. We can also apply to private and some government based scholarships

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is a bit flexible and will get more leiusure time to explore other things. But there is a need of priortising technical skills in curriculum. Also the teaching methods can be more interactive and the difficulty level of exam is simple to moderate level

Faculty

Some branch have all the faculties but for some faculties are unavailable and students have to study by themselves. Even they don't teach good you have to study by your own. Before a semester there are two class test one has to give each giving 20 marks for each subject . Semester exams are quite easier and can be passed easily if one starts studying before 10 days of the exam.

Campus Life

The clubs are majorly run by the seniors. Some of the clubs are very active and are very good for overall improvement. Clubs such as Excelsior which is the literary club and the most functional club of the college. For dance there is Insaniax and for singing there are Auroras club. Also fest organised here are yearly and sometimes they don't happen regularly.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year-wise semester fee is 62000, and the other fee for the first year is 41000. After the first year, the semester fee is the same, while the other fee is only 11000. There is no other fee for an even semester. The other fee includes all fees like caution fees(around 11000 for the first year), registration fee ( 5000), development fee, lab fee, and other miscellaneous fees. The college provides various scholarships; the primary scholarship is NSP, which provides all expenses of the college, including a laptop in the first year. There are also other organisations of college that provides scholarships ( alumni's funds).

Campus Life

The campus life is good. There are mainly two fests, one is a cultural fest known as Spring Spree, and one is a technical fest which is called Technozion. The library is filled with around 1.5 lakhs of books and is available for all. Classrooms are fitted with two smartboards. There are around 20 clubs in college, and all are actively run by students. The college provides almost all the sports complexes, but they are congested.

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is approximately 1:20. Their relationship is very good and the faculties are very helpful and friendly. My favourite faculty is a professor from Chemical Engineering Department, T.Renganathan. I did not like our Chemistry Ma'am Arti Dua, because she used to copy notes from her copy to the blackboard and we did not learn anything. There are 3 exams- Quiz 1, Quiz 2 and End Semesters. The exams are moderately difficult. The course curriculum is approximately 80% relevant.

Course Curriculum Overview

Chemical Engineering is an interdisciplinary course with its impact on various other courses and its interdependency too. Through this, we can gain insights about the solutions faced by us in the real world. The Course Curriculum could be more effective towards Chemical Engineering with some more Chemical Courses in our 2nd Semester. The frequency and timing of exams are very sufficient for an engineering student according to me.

Faculty

Well most of the faculties are very knowledgable and intelligent. Most of them are available for taking in doubts and are easily approachable. Talking about exams as DTU is a university in itself so papers are conducted and checked by our own proffs. Moreover we have in total two major exams in a semester midsem and endsem. midsem are generally around 20-25 marks and endsem are of 40-50 marks. Rest of the marks are cwsn which are internal grading based on attendance assignments and overall in class performance.

Fees and Financial Aid

In the first year i paid almost 2,50,000 which included tuition fees, lab fees, admission fees and bascially all the expenses other than hostel and mess as i am a dayscholar if you are going for hostel you have to pay extra amount for mess and room. The college fees here in DTU is increased every year by an amount of 15k approx. At the time of admission itself it is mentioned the breakdown of fees and how much increment you have to pay every year.

Faculties to student ratio is good enough. But faculties are not much involved with students Thats why practical knowledge is going down Old curriculum is a major problem syllabus needs to change. Divya somvanshi maam from physics department she is an assistant professor her style if teavhing is good. Help students a lot. Loyal with work. There arelot of faculties who behave like they are against students. They dont give marks if your CGPA is compromising with 1 mark. The exam pattern is simple there are 2 mid terms exam of 15 marks and 1 end semester exam of 50 marks in 1 semester and 20 marks for assessment which comes under your faculty. The difficulty level is very low especially in 1st year you can easily pass the semester with studying 1 night before the exams. Most of the students get pass but few get back in a particular subject no worry for them they can clear it in carryover paper with fees of 1000.

We got fest experience in april our annual fest aadhyay and technika occurs every year some small events were also celebrated like tripurotsav, carsol. the faculty members overall are well qualified and with good behaviour and it depends upon you hpw you are behaving with them overall they are very good exception is always there. i personlly felt that satya bagchi sir of mathematics is very good professor. in first year all of you no matter what is your branch all are divided into 8 sections then after frist year all students will divided into their respective branches. there are two mid sems and two end sem exams occurs every year mid sems are generally easier as comapared to end sem and the course curriculum is relevant according to me because you will get to know about basic coding in first year itself .

As we dont have permanent campus so we dont have good campus life but yes we have clubs LIKE MAD club , litreature, litcom club , quiz club , technical club , sports club . For any sport event we often use andhra university ground or any stadium whichever is booked by our college and for fest college provide budget and book venue . So overall with having permanenet campus still we enjoy a lot in college.

I like maths professor beacause he is very harworking he prepare his nots by himself before coming to class and he teaches with very calm so that we all can uunderstand it . I like all faculties but if it is about understanding then i dont like my professor who teaches C programming . May be it is beacuse i m weak in programming .

Ques. Should I join IIT Delhi chemical or top NIT CSE?

● Top Answer By Sushmita Gupta on 01 Apr 23

Ans. Yes, irrespective of the branch, choosing IIT Delhi will always prove to be beneficial for you. IIT Delhi has ties with many big firms that visit the campus for placements and offer great packages irrespective of your branch. One needs to be proficient in DSA and other computer science core subjects such as OOPS, OS, DBMS, and Computer Networks. A good grasp of these will fetch you a high-paying job no matter which branch you belong to in IIT Delhi. Although most companies that visit IIT Delhi also visit NIT, your IIT tag will always fetch you extra benefits and no one can deny that. For instance, the same role offered to an IITiand will have more salary than that offered to a non-IITian.You can easily switch roles and fields given the brand name of the institute you are associated with. IITians even have more opportunities for higher studies in Foreign countries than non-IITians. IITians especially from Mumbai or Delhi are always given preference over non-IITians hence it is advisable to go for IIT Delhi in any branch.Read more

Ques. How is the chemical engineering department at NIT Rourkela?

● Top Answer By Ankita Bhattacharya on 15 Jan 22

Ans. According to the student’s reviews online, you should not opt for chemical engineering at NIT Rourkela.  Here are some reasons as to why: The faculty of the department is not good, they are mostly new at their jobs and have very little educational experience. They focus more on theoretical learning than practicals. They prefer when students mug up theories rather than understanding them in depth. The teachers sometimes give so many assignments that it becomes impossible to complete them in time. There is a lot of communication gap between students and teachers. Lastly, the placement scenario of this department is bad. Most of the students are going into the IT sector and a very few got recruited in core industries and many students did not even receive placement offers. So considering everything it is suggested you do not pursue chemical engineering at NIT Rourkela.Read more

Ques. Which is better, chemical engineering from UICET PU Chandigarh, chemical engineering from Thapar University Patiala or computer science from CCET Chandigarh (affiliated to PU)?

● Top Answer By Pankaj Kumar on 05 Aug 21

Ans. Having a few friends from both institutes I might be able to share some facts about both the institutes. Chemical Engineering at UICET is better than Chemical at Thapar University or CSE at CCET. UICET is a well-renowned university and has a reputed department.  They have brilliant placement records and a strong alumni base. Laboratories and faculty at UICET are better than those at Thapar. Course fees at UICET for chemical engineering are very less than that in Thapar University.  Thapar is no doubt a well-reputed university but as far as chemical engineering is concerned UICET is better. CCET is affiliated with PU located in sector-26 Chandigarh. It is well known for its diploma courses. However, UICET is any day better than CCET in all terms. Categories Chemical Engineering at UICET Chemical Engineering at Thapar University CSE at CCET Chandigarh Course Fee INR 70,079 13.23 lakh 2.45 lakh Highest CTC 18 LPA 15 LPA 12 LPA Average CTC 6.31 LPA 7 LPA 4-5 LPA Recruiting Companies Honeywell, Reliance, Pfizer, Piramal Healthcare, etc. Reliance, GAIL, ONGC, GlaxoSmithKline, etc. Infosys, Godrej, L&T, HCL, etc. Your preference order should be Chemical Engineering at UICET> Chemical at Thapar University> CSE at CCET.Read more

Ques. How is Chemical Engineering at NIT Surathkal?

● Top Answer By Shikha Ghosal on 14 Sept 23

Ans. The Chemical Engineering branch at NIT Surathkal isn’t well-known because of its obsolete curriculum and poor placement scenario. I hope you haven’t yet joined it but if you have known that there is no turning back. It’s better to start working hard to compensate for the poor branch than to sit and regret.  It’s better to opt for Chemical in Trichy or Warangal. Otherwise, you can study hard in the 1st year and opt for a branch change. Even if you fail to get CSE/IT, even civil and mining will do.  I have many friends who joined this department recently and all of them are regretting their decision big time. Some even call it the worst in the institution. So I will recommend you to go for Chemical in NIT Warangal instead. Read more
