Course Curriculum Overview

As a Civil Engineering student at GCET, I feel the curriculum is quite relevant and gives a clear understanding of how core concepts apply in the real world. One of the main reasons I chose this branch here was the mix of subjects like Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Surveying, and Hydraulics, along with the practical exposure we get in the labs. These subjects made me feel confident that I was choosing a field that is directly connected to real-life engineering work

Placement Experience

Highest Package: Around ?40–44 LPA Average Package: Around ?5–6 LPA Top Recruiters: Infosys, TCS, Capgemini, HCL, Accenture, Wipro, LTIMindtree, etc. Placement Strength: Active placement cell with 700+ companies visiting. Civil Branch Placement: Mostly moderate, with average packages 4–6 LPA; depends on skills, internships, and software knowledge.

Fees and Financial Aid

Firstly, there is full tution fee wavier for sc, st , pwd students and students whose family income is less than 1 lakh . But these students has to spent approx 17000 per year for other charges . Next category is whose family income between 1 lakh and 5 lakh , these students has 2/3rd tution fee wavier, & they have to pay approx 60,000 per year including every charges . 3rd category whose family income is more than 5 lakh , these students has to pay all fees , and the total amount is 1.42 lakh per annum. Now coming to hostel and mess fees - which everyone has to pay for it. Hostel charge 8000 per semester Mess fees 22000 per semester. #There is many other scholarship like nsp,pms which students used to avail for. (Extra point from my experience ---- I am from Bihar and in Bihar , there is a common family income certificate which is in the name of any earning member of family not individual mother and father seperate income certificates, they demanded me both income certificates seperately ,I can't able to fulfill that criteria to avail for less than 1 lakh family income, I have family income in name of both mother and father seperately, but they actually adds the amount and make up above 1 lakh zone , so, I had no other options then, I had to opt for 2nd category fee wavier i e 2/3rd. So, this is the biggest drawback of these scholarship criteria of iit,s and nits, government should make a common family income certificates for every state so that there is no any clashes between these criteria)

Placement Experience

Placement is overall good here. Students from ece/eee are better placed than cse here. Here, companies like nvedia, apple has given the highest package. Previous year highest package is 55 lakh ,which had given to two students from eee branch. This year highest package is 35 lakh . Which is offered by two students. Now ,I am concluding all branch avg and placement percentage - Civil -70%placed Mechanical- 100% placed Eee-92% Ece-90% Cse/ai- 80% Overall -86% Average - 8.85 lpa Median-7.5 lpa Highest -35 lpa

Fees and Financial Aid

In first year I am paying 45000 per sem yrr After that from second year paying 35000 per sem There no external fees for lab, admission fess but have devlopment fee which is already added in semester fees And exam form fess which depend on year and branch There are some scholarship reservation for sc/st student and for genral student in home state get tfws (tution fee waiver ) seat in some branches And my some friends get scholarship from reliance foundation and other than goverment . Student credit card is applicable for that college only for bihar student The amount of Bihar student credit card is maximum 400000. Reliance foundation and other scholarship gives only semester fees as per fees structure ..

Faculty

The faculty student ratio is not fixed because most of the teacher are guest faculty . The faculty and student relation is good and faculties help student and solve problems . The name of the faculties that I liked are Er. jaipal sir , yash agrwal sir beacuse they help student for prepartion of exam .. they are taking classes daily The faculty I not like is imran sir because he is so rude and not helping nature busy in himself . In 4 year 8 semester and 8 smesmeter means 8 mid term means total 16 exam are conducted in 4 year of course the exam level is average . There are very less 3-4 student who are going to fail This civil engineering courses and class very tough but if you study it is easy one

Campus Life

The campus life is very vibrant and happening, the campus is lush, green and full of energy. And good vibes in the evening and one after observing this will not think that this is an academic institute. But rather feel like it is something more than that where one's purpose is to socialize and feel happy. The library is stacked with all books and journals Available out there . We have many fests here that is UPHAAR , ARENA and also one of the biggest best in north india - The engifest Even the famous actor Sushant singh rajput passed from our college including many other famous entrepreneurs. So the peer and alumini network is very strong. And this gives us a sense of confidence that we will reach somewhere good in our professional career and life .

Placement Experience

The placements of my college are pretty decent decent, but they are very diverse.Depending upon the branch and course, people are doing. Specifically, in my course of civil engineering, the placements are not very appealing. However, students tend to apply for off campus placements.Since the college has a very strong reputation and a very nice brand name. The core placements have a very low number in average terms.Since many few people that I have seen tend to go for core jobs.Since today, everyone is trying to get a tech job in IT sector . So many students from these lower branches try to sit for tech placements. In order to get a job there, since it offers better security and better opportunities and more flexibility than other core jobs.

Faculty

I have not accurate idea about that but for my batch of 120 divided into 60-60 groups and different teachers teach different groups. Faculty is chill relationship between proffers and students are good(professors often give free attendance) Some professors are very strict that's why maximum students not like them Major 2 exams are happen mid sem and end sem and quizzes and viva happen in every 3rd week (depends upon the subject). Course curriculum is relevant to us all industry subjects and practical are included

Campus Life

PECfest occurs once a year during November In library wide range of books are available from engineering to apptitude to other competitive exams maximum books are present 1st year classrooms have acs and projetors are also present Sports facilities is good . All types of grounds are available like athletics football cricket volleyball badminton etc Various clubs are present like robotics drams EIC ATS etc By joining clubs junior senior interaction increase and communication skills increases of student

Faculty

The faculty is very approachable but the dean office faculty is very unapproachable they are very rude and do not listen to students as our 1st year mess complaints they say that they will fail us if we come again and again for mess complaints as our mess is very poor and has bugs and insects in food which is very poor and also charges high for that and also make mess compulsory for hostellers.there are midsems and endsems along with many quizez and tests

Fees and Financial Aid

The total academic fees of one semester is 94000 for general/obc/ews for all semesters along with a hostel fees of 81500 per year without including mess , mess charges per year is around 4400. There is no such particular scholarship and also less fees for different categories.

Faculty

About faculty member of pech Chandigarh the facility to student ratio is 1: 15 faculties are pretty approachable. There is a professor who teaches a CP she gives proxy so we like her and then there is a professor who doesn't give proxy so we don't like him. As per exam we have midterm and term for each semester. Since I am in first year I don't know how many student fails to clear the exam as for the relevancy of the course it is pretty outdated

Faculty to student ratio is good. All divisions students have different professors and very helpful. I likes My whole faculties. Some professor are strict but not bad and I think they are good for students. One mid sem exam and one final exam for 1 sem. And also one special mid sem exam for repeaters. Paper is medium and the course is long but still profesor covered it in time. most of the students pass the exam and may be very less I don't know exact because I am in 1st semester so very less people are fail.

Placement Experience

College placement is very good in my college. Also some students whose parents has background in civil engineering are coming only for Degree. There are many companies visited . Some are Adani, wipro , ultratech etc. highest package is may be 18LPA and average is 4.5LPA and it is depending upon branch. It is depend upon students. Student with Good project and good Score in semesters are getting placements. I am looking for placements.

The faculty to student ratio is much better than other colleges but the relation between them is not that good some teachers are friendly but mostly they mind their own business. The difficulty of some exams are way higher than it should be.

In this in this college the all of the faculty is well qualified like in IITs and nits . The relation between the faculty and the student is very much good we can easily talk to him and solve the doubt. In our civil course the all the subject is very upgraded from the other colleges . In this college the exam system is like sessional per month and the mid time is not available and the handsome is end of the same. Each National exam carries 36 marks and each and and each and same exam carries around 60 marks and 4 marks is about attendance this is the structure of the exam system by the 100 total marks. The minimum marks to pass a subject like for sessional exam 12 marks and in external 24 marks . The exam level is around medium because examination are like wise what is teaches.

Faculty in institute are almost are on contract based. Course structure: 1st year course is almost same as the intermediate subjects which includes maths, physics, chemistry, english and labs also same as inter. and from the second yr onards the core subjects will come in the curriculum each sem will have 4-5 subjects and 2-3 labs based on the semester. students need to do 1 nptel course through online with 3 credit subject after the 2nd yr student need to do a short term internship after 6th semester and for the 8th semester full term internship as well as project should be done Exam system: 2mid exams will be conducted in the semester for 25marks each and finally it will be evaluated for 25marks with 80:20 ratio where the 80% is taken from the highest marked exam.assignment will be given for 5 marks for each mid exam and after this semester exam is for 70 marks Marking schemes: institute will follow the absolute grading.the student need to get min of 27marks in the semester eaxm and also the total must be equal to 40marks. if any student fails to get either of these then the candidate is marked as fail in that subject.

Campus Life

Campus life at jntua college of engineeering kalikiri is peaceful and well balanced. Each department organizes its own technical fest and cultural fest every year, along with that sports day and annual day events will be there that encourage students participation. NSS program is very actively conducting the the programs and though the clubs are available but not very much active. The library has limited books and could be improved with more reference materials. Classrooms are mostly traditional with blackboards, projectors are available when needed. Sports activities are well organized with several events held both indoor and outdoor games will be conducted and overall championship awarded to the winning department. The campus environment is calm and friendly, providing a stress free atmosphere that allows students to focus on learning and personal growth

Course Curriculum Overview

I was influenced by the the government job opportunities which I can get in my domain. I think I'll be well prepared for my targetted govt jobs by the end of my course curriculum. It prepares us well for real world applications for further academic pursuits. The labs must be improved, the materials instruments must be improved . There are two semesters in a year and each semesters contains two internal exams , the difficulty level is moderate. And they ask whatever they have taught us in our classes . If we give attention to the class we can easily make us prepared for the semesters , the gate(with some own hardwork) , and for different government exams also .

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise course fees for my branch is around 8000 and as a hosteller I have to pay 32000 per year . In civil, electrical and mechanical that is the the core branches have around 36000 total course fees , and the IT, CSE and ECE has more than 1 lakh as their course fee. The students are eligible for swami vivekananda merit cum scholarship as per the if they fullfill the income criteria Unfortunately I didn't get the government scholarship this year because of some issue but other students gets the government scholarship of 60000 . Which is sufficient to pay hostel and tution fee for a scholar.

Ques. What should I choose between NIT Surathkal CSE and IIT Kanpur civil chemical

● Top Answer By Aditi Banerjee on 19 Apr 23

Ans. I would recommend you choose IIT over NIT any day irrespective of the branch because it is recognized globally. The quality of packages and roles offered are also better and with the right motivation and determination, one can even change his branch to a better one. At IIT Kanpur, I would advise you to go for Chemical rather than Civil. BTech Chemical Engineering combined with Masters in Petroleum Engineering is the highest paying bracket in the USA with more than 74000 Jobs available for outsiders in the Middle East, US, and Canada at a five yr median of $ 18600. Additionally, at IIT Kanpur the ocean of electives to choose from enables you to pursue CS course side by side through certifications in 64/128/256 bit SSL Encryption, Data Structures, and Oracle which have great importance. While CS students can be found everywhere, you will find only a few Chemical Engineers. Concludingly, it’s best to go for IIT Kanpur Chemical for the long term or IIT Kanpur Civil with a branch change to EEE or Mechanical in mind.Read more

Ques. Which one is better: taking mechanical engineering at IIT BHU or civil engineering in IIT Roorkee?

● Top Answer By Harsh on 03 Jul 24

Ans. I am a B.Tech Civil student at IIT Roorkee. Here’s a comparison between the two options- Parameters IIT Roorkee Civil IIT BHU Mechanical Average Package INR 18 LPA INR 21.95 LPA (around 80% students get placed) Top Recruiters on campus Larsen, Turbo, Tata, Sprinklr, Jio, L&T, Godrej, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Zepto, Google, Jaguar Land Rover. Amazon, American Express, Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, Google, ITC Ltd., Microsoft, Oracle, Paytm, etc. Research Facilities One of the best research facilities at the Civil Engineering Department of IIT Roorkee. Ample research opportunities and well-equipped laboratories. One important thing that my friends told me is that the Mechanical Engineering Department at IIT BHU is one of the strictest departments in India. It makes the students question their own potential. The department professors are very strict and the coursework is extremely rigorous. The students are given assignments and projects which they have to complete within a day. I would suggest you choose IIT Roorkee Civil as it offers the same facilities and placements as IIT BHU Mechanical. Moreover, the Civil department at IITR is not as strict as the Mechanical department at IIT BHU.Read more

Ques. Which is better, IITD civil or IIT Dhanbad for CS?

● Top Answer By Akrit Shaha on 11 Oct 23

Ans. Since you haven’t mentioned the branch you are interested in, I will assume you have no particular preference. Now, the primary factor to consider is if you value the brand of the college or the branch of your choice. Consider the following points  You can go for a less preferred branch at the top 5 IITs and then work hard for branch change. But this would be risky as branch change is very difficult. If your target is to get placed with excellent packages, then choose the CSE branch, it has the best job opportunities. You can also choose to work for noncore placements at the top 5 IITs. However, this will be very time-consuming as you have to manage both your noncore branch and CSE.  The best option would be to choose IIT Dhanbad CSE. It’s true that it won’t offer the opportunities and exposure that the top 5 IITs would but for me branch is more important than the brand name of the college. So, choose according to your preferences. Read more

Ques. What is the highest package offered to a civil engineering student from NIT TRICHY?

● Top Answer By Prateek Chaturvedi on 04 Sept 21

Ans. I am assuming that you are asking about core civil job profiles. According to my friend at NIT Trichy the placement record for the Civil Engineering branch is quite good. Here is the placement trend for the branch.  Year Civil Engineering 2019-20 81.7% 2018-19 92.1% 2017-18 83.6% According to the placement highlights of the past few years for Civil Engineering the highest CTC offered by the recruiting companies is around 17 LPA. During the placement drive 2020, the average package offered was INR 6 LPA. More job offers are made to the civil engineers from companies such as Oil and other related companies. The salary package offered by a few conglomerates like L&T varies from INR 6.2 LPA for IITians, INR 5.11 LPA for NITians, to INR 3.6 for Local/Private Colleges. This is the general trend. It varies depending on the academic year. Read more

Ques. How is civil at MNNIT Allahabad?

● Top Answer By Ronit Sharma on 29 Apr 21

Ans. If you strictly want a 7-figure salary during the campus placements, then Civil Engineering is not for you, neither here at MNNIT Allahabad, nor at any other institute. Even IIT Bombay placement offers will not look lucrative compared to their other branches.  The actual reasons for which you should consider Civil Engineering at MNNIT Allahabad are as follows. Higher Studies : The GATE 2017 top 4 rank holders were from MNNIT Allahabad as was the 2nd rank holder in GATE 2016 in the Civil Engineering paper.  Faculty: The faculty is much better than their non-core counterparts and is highly motivated to make their students flourish in the entrance exams. The results speak for themselves. Opportunities other than private companies – Government departments such as Public Works Department (PWD), Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE), Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH), National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), and various others who select candidates through Engineering Services Examination (ESE). Maharatna and Navratna PSUs take candidates who qualify GATE exam. Private Sector: Private Companies such as Gammon, L&T not only visit campus but also conduct off-campus drives and recruit students. Although the initial salary will be lower than top private IT companies. So, if you are genuinely interested in civil engineering then there would not be any dearth of opportunities after completing the degree. Read more

Ques. Should I choose NSIT CSE or IIT Delhi Civil?

● Top Answer By Shrija on 09 Jul 24

Ans. I am a Civil Engineering student at IIT Delhi.  Even though CoE/ CSE/ IT are much more sought after by students in the present times, I would choose Civil at IIT Delhi over CoE at NSUT.  Here are the reasons for the same: The faculty at IIT Delhi is much more experienced and learned than that at NSUT. IIT Delhi was established in 1961, while NSUT in 1983. Because of this, IIT Delhi has a stronger alumni network. IIT Delhi is a globally recognized brand, while NSUT is usually only known to students of North India. The “IIT” brand is immensely helpful when applying to foreign universities for higher studies.  Although civil freshers are rarely in demand, a civil engineer with enough work experience, the right set of skills, and great project accomplishments is paid a high salary. These are the 2023 placement figures for both these institutions: Particulars IIT DELHI  NSUT  Median CTC -   INR 17 LPA (B.Tech) Average CTC INR 17.60 LPA (Overall)   - % Batch placed 84.94% (Overall)   (Students Placed in B.Tech: 977) Top Recruiters   Google, Deloitte, BCG, HCL Technologies, Lenskart, Flipkart, etc.    (2024) Unfortunately, the branch-wise placement detail is not available for both these institutes.    However, based on the various reasons listed above, I would recommend you choose IIT Delhi Civil Engineering over NSUT CoE.Read more

Ques. How is NIT Jamshedpur for civil engineering in terms of placement?

● Top Answer By Rohan Dubey on 15 Mar 24

Ans. B.Tech Civil students get good placement opportunities at decent core companies at NIT Jamshedpur. A good number of non core companies also visit the department for placements.  But by ‘good’ I do not mean very high packages that you can boast of. If this is what you are looking for, you’ll be disappointed. Core branches like Mechanical, Production, Metallurgy and Civil receive decent placements. One can expect very high packages in these branches when studying at top rated institutes like the old IITs and BITS Pilani.  L&T, St.Gobain, Bridge and Roof Corp, Vedanta and ECC offer decent packages to B.Tech Civil students. Most analytics firms allow Civil students to sit for placements, and offer decent packages as well. Capgemini is among the IT firms which allow Civil students, and offer decent packages. BPCL offers comparatively high packages, but allows only top 5 students to apply. JUSCO visits every 2-3 years and offers high packages.  Last year, 97.29% students were successfully placed from B.Tech Civil during NIT Jamshedpur placements. The highest package for the branch was 20 LPA, and the average package was 9.57 LPA.  Instead of just looking at the placement stats, you should also consider your interests and the future prospects of a branch before stepping into it.Read more
