- There are opportunities everywhere , if you have interest and discipline then you can do anything , campus will help you in every way
- The sports are pretty nice , in inter iit competitions we win a lot in many events
Dislikes
- The politics is too rough , there is so much reccomendation going on which makes a talent person feel useless if they don’t get in
- Since the acads and everything are too rough and too hectic , the culture becomes very toxic and people judge based on small things
Fees and Financial Aid:
It varies each sem , it is on average 1 lakh 50k , this sem it was one lakh 48 k 30 rupees where one lakh was institute fees and remaining for hostel mess fees , for sc st and management people there is no institute fees , their fees will be lowered to only 48k

- Campus is very big. Here the strength of student is 20k.
- Main building is very unique and this is very old IIT.
Dislikes
- Atmosphere is not good here. Raining everyday when ever the monsoon is there.
- Outside campus there is a village and no malls near.
Fees and Financial Aid:
The year wise fees is pain is around 320000 per student or 3lakh 20 thousand per student. Tution fees is per semester is 100000 or 1lakh,caution fees is around 10K, registration fees is 800rs, development fees is 1000, lab fees is 3000 and also for mess and hostel its around 50K. If any student from SC, ST then he doesn't has to pay fees and also if person is from EWS and his family income is less than 1lakh then he doesn't pay any tution fees. only has to pay mess and hostel fees. in my batchmate 2 of my friend is from Sc, St so they only pay fees for mess and hostel and for general one they pay whole fees per semester 1.5Lakh. SC, ST scholarships.
Likes
- The academic life is not too hectic. The course if not too vast for exams . Just attending classes and revising it is sufficient for getting a good cg. Although paper are set by IIT professors so it's a quite difficult but you can prepare it.
- Infrastructure,medical facilities, labs facilities ,highly educated faculty and a various research opportunities are available in my college. If you are polite with the faculty ,they will be always.ready to help you in every way they can.
Dislikes
- Due to a very competitive feeling among students ,we some times feel that we are doing nothing and feels inferior from others. This feeling some times increases during internship and placement season. As well as rati of boys vs girls is 1:4 ,very low
Fees and Financial Aid:
Year wise fees is 1.5 lakh i used to pay I fall under 1 lakh to 5 lakh family income category therefore I get a discount on tuition fees which is 1 lakh per semester,we get around 66% discount on that. Hostel fees is around 34000. Lab fees Is around 5000.gymkhana charges are around 900 and internet and medical facilities charges around 2000. Sc st people are in a great benefit there tuition fees is 100%off. It does not depends on whether a person is financially stable or not ,if he his father has crores of wealth ,even than also he has the benefit of free education in the college. The people whose family income lies above 5 lakh per annum pays full fees which is 3 lakh per annum. Various scholarships for daughters of militarty staff, sc/st scholarships,merit cum scholarships and some private scholarships are provided.

- Campus is a large area, for us to move around and chill duiring weekends
- Great studying exproence from highly educated profs.
Dislikes
- Hostels are too old and even some hostels have triple sharing.
- Foods of the hostels are less than average.
Fees and Financial Aid:
I have paid 100000 fee for one semester. There are several scholarships for General, OBC and ST/SCs like MCM(Merit-cum-Means Scholarship). This Scholarship contains 1. If your family annual income is less than 5 lakhs Then you are eligible for 66% scholarship of the total tution fee 2.If your family income is less than 1 lakhs Then you are eligible for 100%scholarship. Some of my friends have paid only 33000 for one semester.

- The infrastructure is top notch here. The famous white building is everyone dream to crack IIT
- The Gymkhana is very active here all the facilities required for recreation is fulfilled here
Dislikes
- The strict attendance policy in some course
- The connectivity of the city is little bad .

The merit cum need scholarship is for students whose family income is less than 6 lakhs per annum . In this scheme then get a monthly amount of around 5 thousand. There are also a scholarship for BS degree students to promote research

- The infrastructure of college is very old

Fees are 1,50,000 per semester but vary according to college expenditure at that time. It is 3 lakh per year. 1 lakh is mess fees and other for 1 year and 2 lakh is tution fees. No scholarship was taken for my fees. There are scholarships based on family income.

- the campus here is very beatiful and heart warming , you will fall in love with the greenery of the campus
- The staff workers , watchman , shopkeepers etc. are very polite and humble to the students

- Poor connectivity from the city , it is situated in the outskirts , you have to go to kolkata to catch your flights
- Kharagpur weather is not very good over the year, summer is very hot and humid , it is very sticky to live and study here.

- Location : IIT KGP is located in a very remote location which is difficult to reach from different places in Infia
- Mess food: Food provided is not of good quality and variety is also very less

- faculty: all the faculty have enormous experience and have well interested in teaching their subject which ultimately give boost to learn things and clear doubt regarding subject

- Hastal mess food : like literally they are very poor than expected sometime insect also founded in mess food .
- Academic pressure : too much thing happens here at limited time and this create a lot of pressure .

The tuition fee is 100000 per semester for most of the students . I is free for sc and st student and economically weaker section and obs people whose annual income is less than 5 lack .with addition to tuition fee there is caution money library fee hall fee and mess fee and other mislaneous fee of 50 thousand per semester and all the student have to give this fees even sc and st student also.the total fees for a complete 4 year btech program at IIT kharagpur is approximately 1200000 including semester fees and other compulsary fees . scholorship: MCM scholorship: merit based scholorship is available for student who do well in academics and have decent cg at the end of the semester . SC/ST assistence scholorship: for sc /st student having less than 50000 annual income and minimum 6 cg is necessary for availing scholorship. other scholorship: Aditya birla scholarship and other NGO and other are available based on the acandemic performance . Batchmate : All the batchmate are too helpful.

Totally we have three types of fees. The institute tuition fees, the hostel fees and the mess fee and the miscellaneous fees. 1. Tuition Fee for UR/EWS/OB-NCL with annual income greater than 5 lakh : Rs.1 lakh 2. Tuition Fee for UR/EWS/OB-NCL with annual income less than or equal to 5 lakhs is Rs.33335. 3. Tuition Fee need not be paid for UR/EWS/OB-NCL category students with annual income less one lakh and SC/ST/physically disabled candidates. The current fee structure is a. For semester fee 400 rs. for registration, student amenities 800rs, examination fee 500rs, training and placement 1500rs, technology film society 100rs, Gymkhana fee 600rs, student brotherhood fund 200rs, medical registration fee 200rs, student welfare policy 2500rs, internet connectivity 600rs, electricity and water charges 1000rs, lab contingency fee 800 rs. and hostel seat rent 750 rs. The hall/hostel fee is hostel overhead fees 730 rs, mess charges 4500 rs, hall establishment fee is 15125rs.

Which is better, chemical at IIT Kharagpur or CS at IIT Mandi?
Choosing Chemical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur is a better option as compared to CS at IIT Mandi. IIT KGP is a much older institution with a rich legacy and a stronger alumni network. Other than that, Chemical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur has an active research culture.
On the other hand, IIT Mandi may not be the best option because of its recent establishment. Although the IIT Mandi placements seem promising, they are nowhere near IIT KGP placements.
