All about IIT Roorkee

The curriculum is 70% as per the course chosen and 30% as per the student's interest. These courses are available from across all courses and hence students get choose what they think will help them in their career path.

IIT Roorkee has a dedicated placement season in the pre-final year during this semester. This is also managed by PIC(a student body). There are companies for different profiles ranging from core branch roles till mangement based roles.

There is a dedicated placement drive that is handled by Placement & Internship Cell organized in final year during the first semester. There are provisions for students wishing to persue further studies.

The fees is affordable for most of the people but those who are genuinely struggling financially, do get scholarships for support. The fees is approximately Rs. 3,00,000 per year including all hostel, mess and tution fees.

Thomso is the cultural fest that is organized here in the month of October(Autumn semester) and Cognizance is the technical fest organized in the month of March-April(Spring Semester). Sangram, the sports fest, is also organized here. The Mahatma Gandhi Central Library is also one of it's kind.

The hostels over here are great. Old hostels are timely renovated and the newer hostels are built in a magnificent way. Every hostel has day and night canteens & a stationary shop with all basic aminities.

For admission, students have to first give JEE Mains and get a minimum percentile to give JEE Advanced which they have to qualify. The eligibility for admission is passing 10+2 with minmum 75% or top 15 percentile.

The faculty-to-student ratio is average. For every subject requiring practice, a PhD student is assigned to a batch of 30-40 students. The faculty is mostly approachable. We have 2 exams per semester, mid-term and end-term. Professors may also take quizes as per their choice. Difficulty of these assessments vary as per the course and faculty.

The nightlife at IIT Roorkee is a sight to behold. There are no restrictions on students to roam in the campus. There are night canteen facilities available for students. Student Activity Center with different club rooms and badminton court remains open till 2am.
