Studies at IIT BHU

According to me, opting for IIT BHU for CSE is a better choice as compared to BITS Pilani.

  • IIT BHU is well-recognized nationwide for offering excellent academic standards and research opportunities that help students grow careers.
  • IIT BHU offers four four-year BTech programs for CSE, and the average fee for the first year is around INR 2.27 LPA.
  • IIT BHU offers one of the best placements to the students amongst the IITs.
  • In 2023 474 offers and 305 PPOs were made.
  • The domestic highest package is INR 1.68 CPA and the international highest package is INR 77 LPA.

Lives in Bangalore

When deciding between IIT BHU and BITS Pilani, it's important to consider both colleges from different perspectives. Both institutions have their own strengths, and making a decision between the two can be challenging. Here are some important things to consider about each institution:

IIT BHU:

It is considered one of the top IITs after the top five IITs in India. It has a vast infrastructure and lab facilities because of its affiliation with Banaras Hindu University (BHU). It has a long history of excellence in education and has been around for longer than some of the other IITs. It has some of the best faculties among all the IITs. Most importantly, getting an IIT tag from IIT BHU can help you in many ways throughout your life, such as impressing people and carrying it to foreign colleges and companies.

BITS Pilani:

When it comes to placement and package, BITS Pilani is considered superior to IIT BHU. Its placements are often higher than even the top IITs. The hostel facilities available at BITS Pilani are unmatched by any IIT. Even recruiters do not make a distinction between IITs and BITS Pilani when it comes to reputation.

Here are some more reasons why IIT BHU could be the right choice for you:

  • IIT BHU is part of the prestigious IIT league, which is considered the most prestigious group of engineering institutions in India.
  • Don't fall into the trap of people who might say that the IIT tag won't matter or that IITs are fake or the worst. The IIT tag can help you in many ways you might not have even thought of.
  • IIT BHU has a far better placement than BITS Pilani.
  • Being part of the IIT league means that you can explore yourself with other IITs by participating in inter-IIT tech, sports meets or other inter-IIT meets.
  • IIT has more brand value than BITS Pilani.
  • IITs charge fewer fees than BITS Pilani.
  • IITs have bigger and better alumni bases than BITS Pilani.
  • IITs are well-known and have a more international reputation than BITS Pilani.

Ultimately, the choice between IIT BHU and BITS Pilani will depend on your individual needs and goals. It is important to weigh the pros and cons of each institution and consider your future aspirations when making your decision.

Having known some people studying in both these institutions, I can say that both are equally good in their own way. They both are established institutions and widely recognized. Let me share some facts about them, which might help you make your decision.

BITS Pilani

  • BITS Pilani has a beautiful 990-acre campus that accommodates all of the departments.
  • The campus is lush green and peaceful.
  • The students who come here are highly knowledgeable.
  • They can only get into BITS PILANI if they do well in the BITSAT, which is held every year.
  • There are also some overseas students.
  • CSE has the highest placement rate here.
  • Unlike in IITs, there are no reservation quotas here.

IIT (BHU)

  • The IIT BHU campus is located in Varanasi. IIT BHU’s campus is royal (more like a temple) and can’t be compared to BITS Pilani.
  • It covers an area of 1400 acres.
  • The students are highly intelligent and hard working.
  • However, because the institute is government-run, some students are not from well-off families, and a reservation quota is in place.
  • IIT BHU is ranked between 6 and 10 among India’s best engineering colleges.
  • If you want to do a master’s degree in India, IITs offer very good packages after both a B.Tech and an M.Tech.
Categories CSE at BITS Pilani CSE at IIT BHU

Placement Percentage 80% 80%

Average CTC 11.37 LPA 13 LPA
Lowest CTC 6 LPA 6.93 LPA
Recruiting Companies Microsoft, Tech Mahindra, KPMG, HCL, etc. Cognizant, IBM, TCS, Wipro, etc.

Therefore, you can see that they both are good. But the choice ultimately depends on you, as this is your career, and you will be responsible for shaping it. So, analyze both of them and choose carefully.
