IITB Civil vs IIT Indore EE vs IIT KGP Mech vs IITK Chem. What to choose for 2025 admission?
Confused what to choose between IITB Civil vs IIT Indore EE vs IIT KGP Mech vs IITK Chem for 2025 admission. Want opportunities in Software companies so hoping that old IIT tag could help even after studying in core branches. Or should I strictly go for circuital branches only like IIT Indore EE? Kindly suggest.

Got a PPO at Big Tech company but NOT HAPPY!!
I'm a Btech cse student at an old IIT, just entered into my 4th year. So I interned at Microsoft as a swe intern this summer and fortunately got a PPO. Not to sound ungrateful, I really feel I am fortunate that I got it, especially after looking at the market conditions this year (lots of PPO rejections across many companies and overall hiring getting reduced in some), but I am NOT HAPPY. I didn't quite enjoy my internship at Microsoft, I felt like the internship work wasn't impactful enough and I feel I should do better. That might be due to the particular team that I was in but idk many people were actually happy with their project aaaargh I don't really want to go to startups due to the WLB, but are there not better SDE companies, if yes shall I take the risk of rejecting this offer and going somewhere else, what factors shall I consider, as I do know that in big companies the work is mostly team dependent and one might end up in a bad team in a very good company as well. Or "getting good/impactful work" is all a hoax !!??!!? But I really want good work so that I can actually grow in my career One option can be going for Masters degree abroad, but we all know how USA has been for Indians in recent times. Thoughts please. Mainly want to know what factors shall I consider/can come into play before making any decision.

I would say work for a year gain experience then switch. Microsoft have brand value so it will definitely help you going forward.

People who are not studying from IIT/NIT.... does it still hurts somewhere deep knowing that you can never be an IITian.
We all wanted to be IITian... no matter what we say now that skills matter, NIT/IIT does make little difference, you have to work hard, you can succeed in life later...etc, etc... But that dream which we saw, it still hurts right? I don't know about you guys....but it will forever hurt me...like whenever someone will talk about IITs and all it will still hold same pain, even if I will do good later in life. It was my childhood dream.

College tag
Is there value for nit tag? We all know theres value for the IIT tag especially till gen 2 iits. Don't know about gen 3, but from what I know people. But what about top 5 nits or the top iits. Do people in the industry care about it. There's this hype made around iits by students and india, but is not tag of no real value, like even if you are studying at Trichy, Warangal, surathkal, rourkela and calicut

IIT Patna Orientation Experience - Mind = Blown
Bro IIT Patna ka 3-day orientation (1st to 3rd Aug) just got over today, and sach bolun toh expectations se kahin zyada better nikla. Pehle din kaafi formal tha — Director sir aur kuch aur heads ne address kiya, thoda boring laga honestly. Dusre din Department Head se interaction tha – man, they are super chill and hella supportive, baat kar ke confidence aaya ki yeh journey smooth hogi. But asli fun toh 3rd day ke sessions mein tha – jab student clubs ka introduction hua. Thoda technical glitch tha beech mein but clubs ne pura compensate kar diya – Rocketry club, Automation club – sab top notch. Aur haan, yahan ke fests ke baare mein bhi pata chala – Celesta, Infesto, Anwesha – bhai next level. Kisi bhi old IIT se kam nahi. Seniors bhi ultra active hain – pata chala ki TEDx events, celebrities ka host karna, even night cravings vending machines aur latest WiFi 7 routers bhi aa rahe hain soon! Mujhe lagta tha IIT Patna ek normal mid-tier IIT hoga, but bhai jo ab tak dekha hai – ye underrated hai for no reason. Aur haan, placements bhi kaafi ache ja rahe hain ab, specially ECE/EEE/CSE mein. Toh jo log IIT Patna ko underestimate karte hain – bhai ek baar ground reality check kar lo. Kaafi cheeze badal rahi hain. Chal bhai, itna hi share karna tha. Ab feel aa gaya ki "IIT is IIT".

The only reason people hate IIT patna is because its in bihar. But companies see academics of the college and the skills of its students and not the location hence you get these placements
