Got a PPO at Big Tech company but NOT HAPPY!!
I'm a Btech cse student at an old IIT, just entered into my 4th year. So I interned at Microsoft as a swe intern this summer and fortunately got a PPO. Not to sound ungrateful, I really feel I am fortunate that I got it, especially after looking at the market conditions this year (lots of PPO rejections across many companies and overall hiring getting reduced in some), but I am NOT HAPPY. I didn't quite enjoy my internship at Microsoft, I felt like the internship work wasn't impactful enough and I feel I should do better. That might be due to the particular team that I was in but idk many people were actually happy with their project aaaargh I don't really want to go to startups due to the WLB, but are there not better SDE companies, if yes shall I take the risk of rejecting this offer and going somewhere else, what factors shall I consider, as I do know that in big companies the work is mostly team dependent and one might end up in a bad team in a very good company as well. Or "getting good/impactful work" is all a hoax !!??!!? But I really want good work so that I can actually grow in my career One option can be going for Masters degree abroad, but we all know how USA has been for Indians in recent times. Thoughts please. Mainly want to know what factors shall I consider/can come into play before making any decision.

I would say work for a year gain experience then switch. Microsoft have brand value so it will definitely help you going forward.

In similar situation, but not in IIT, not a good brand company like Microsoft. Even I didn’t enjoy much on my internship. Thinking of higher studies, since some suggested me to not just go for MS but for MS Phd integrated courses as they have higher chance of scholarships (I don’t want to burden my parents even the slightest for this). I have a publication under review(1st author) in Oxford Bioinformatics [I’m a cs guy, bio part has been taken care by others as well]. Have decent cg (but not 9+) , can get some LoRs from prof as well (international). But don’t have exact path how to move forward with current situation. Where to apply, get full scholarship (can’t go without that…don’t want to take loan as it can shift my mindset to just earn money there). I’m not even sure if I’m fit for that path, not very research oriented mindset from start. If one can help, please DM
