JEE Main Chemistry chapter-wise weightage in 2024 highlights the significance of understanding the distribution of importance among various topics. JEE Main 2024 question paper differs from NEET, however, the syllabus of both exams has a similar touch. Chemistry is one of the vital and scoring part of JEE Main 2024 syllabus of B.E./B.Tech. Understanding the weightage assigned to each chapter of Chemistry is key for you to prioritize your preparation properly.
JEE Main 2024 Chemistry syllabus is categorized into three parts, viz., Inorganic, Organic, and Physical. The syllabus of Chemistry includes topics from NCERT-based Class 11th and 12th chapters. Questions from Class 12th have a higher weightage in JEE Main 2024 than Class 11th topics. JEE Main 2024 Chemistry syllabus also carries a weightage of 33.33% alike Physics and Mathematics. NTA has revised the Chemistry syllabus by reducing 8 chapters from Inorganic, Organic, and Physical Chemistry. So, we cannot tell you to skip any of the other 20-21 topics. However, we can assist you in learning which topics are important from each part. Let’s discuss the same.
Chemical bonding, p-block elements, and coordination compounds are important from the Inorganic part. You can expect at least 6-7 questions from all these three topics. However, it doesn't mean you can skip Periodic classification, d and f block elements, as both are interconnected with the other three topics. Salt analysis has been newly added to JEE Main 2024 Chemistry Syllabus, although it is easy.
Redox and Electrochemistry are two important chapters of Physical Chemistry. A minimum of 2-3 questions are expected to come from these two. Solutions is another important and also less time-consuming topic, and questions come from this topic every year. Atomic structure and thermodynamics are also vital Chemistry chapters of JEE Mains 2024 syllabus. You will get little concepts of the atomic part in Physics by learning the atomic structure of Chemistry syllabus. More than 1 question is asked of these two. Equilibrium, on the other hand, is lengthy, however, you can expect 1 question from here.
Organic Chemistry contains the most important chapters. The maximum number of questions comes from this particular section only sometimes. If you ask us about a chapter that can give more output instead of giving little effort, that is Biomolecule and Amines. These two are indeed small topics, and you can surely expect 1-2 questions here. So opt for this one first. GOC and Hydrocarbons are the life of Organic Chemistry, and a minimum of 4-5 questions come from these. Aldehyde, Ketone, and Carboxylic Acids is another core and time-consuming topic with 2-3 questions expected.
