A 220+ score in JEE Main 2027 requires a strong command of high-weightage topics, consistent mock-test practice and careful time management.
Based on the current exam pattern, candidates can target around 80-85 marks in Physics, 70-80 in Chemistry and 50–60 in Mathematics.
Based on the JEE Main pattern and the marks trends of previous years:
- A 99 percentile in JEE Main is expected to require 170 to 195 marks out of 300.
- The marks target for 220 plus is Physics 80 to 85, Chemistry 70 to 80 and Mathematics 50 to 60.
- The first 40 days of the plan cover chapters that carry 35 to 40% of the JEE Main paper.
- Every completed chapter should be followed by the last five years of JEE Main questions on it.
- No new chapter should be started after December 15, 2026, since the last 35 days are for tests and revision.
Note: JEE Main 2027 Session 1 is expected to be conducted in the last week of January 2027, while the official notification and registration details are expected in October 2026. The exact exam dates are yet to be announced by NTA

How to Score 220+ Marks in JEE Main 2027?
A 220+ target should be divided across the three subjects instead of treating the paper as a single 300-mark test.
The study plan uses 80-85 marks in Physics, 70-80 in Chemistry and 50-60 in Mathematics as subject-wise targets.
- Physics should be used to build a high-scoring base through formula-based and frequently tested chapters.
- Chemistry can provide consistent marks through NCERT-based revision and repeated question practice.
- Mathematics requires more selective question attempts because of its comparatively time-consuming problems.
- Candidates starting preparation from scratch should maintain a consistent daily study schedule.

JEE Main 2027 in 120 Days: What Candidates Are Reporting on Reddit
A second-year engineering student posted a four-month study plan on r/JEENEETards on February 6, 2026. The poster had moved from 78 percentile to 95 or 96 percentile after a September start. The thread drew 522 upvotes and 114 comments.
The plan gives three to four hours to each subject daily. Physics is previous-year questions solved twice, with revision before each pass. Chemistry is NCERT line by line, plus the back exercises. Mathematics is previous-year questions from 10 to 15 comfortable chapters, with a mock test every four days.
Board candidates were told to give JEE Main 60 percent of study time until the board exams. The share drops to 20 percent in the board month. Replies called it a high-quality post and asked the moderators to add it to the subreddit wiki.

Collegedunia Tip: The thread gives 12 to 13 hours a day, more than the 8 to 10 hours planned here. Keep the mock test every four days. Put the Stage 1 chapters first, because 220 marks needs the high-weightage chapters before breadth.
How to Practise Questions for JEE Main 2027
Every chapter in the plan is practised in the same order, from solved examples to timed previous year questions.
- Study the solved examples of the chapter first, since they show the approach for each question type.
- Work through the daily practice problems given by the coaching or the textbook.
- Solve the module exercises for JEE Main level questions.
- Attempt the last five years of JEE Main questions on the chapter against a timer.
- Take a chapter-wise test and record every mistake in a separate notebook.
- Return to the notebook before the next test on the same chapter.
Candidates with half the syllabus already done should use detailed lectures for the remaining chapters. Candidates starting from zero should use one revision lecture per chapter and move to questions quickly.
