Exam Dates for JEE Main 2026 Exam Shifts Session 2

The JEE Main 2026 session 2 exams will start on April 2nd, 2026, and continue until April 8th, 2026.

  • Exams for paper 1, i.e., for BE/BTech, are scheduled for April 2,4,5,6, and 8th 2026, in both morning and afternoon shifts.
  • Students who are registered for Paper 2A and 2B will have to give exams on April 7th in the morning and afternoon shifts.
  • Paper 2A and 2B are scheduled for April 7th, 2026, and exams will be held from 9:00 AM to 12 PM for the morning shift and from 3:00 to 6:00 PM for the afternoon shift.
  • If you are attending both 2A and 2B papers, the exam duration will be 3.5 hours instead of 3 hours.
  • Students with an April 5th exam date who are unable to attend because of Easter Sunday may receive new exam dates.

Note: The exam on April 5th is not postponed; only students who have requested ‌new dates due to Easter Sunday are expected to get new exam dates along with their revised admit cards.

Ans. No. The exam is not postponed completely. The exam on April 5th will continue as per the schedule. Only the students who cannot attend the exam because of Easter Sunday are most likely to get new dates.

NTA follows a fixed schedule for the JEE Main Session 2 exam shifts. There are 2 shifts daily: morning and afternoon.

  • Morning shifts are scheduled from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. But you have to report early to the exam centre, i.e, around 7:00 AM to 7:30 AM.
  • Paper 1 afternoon exam will be from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and your reporting time is around 1:20 PM to 2 PM.
  • If you are attending both paper 2A and 2B, you are given 3 hours and 30 mins for the exam; exam timings are from 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM.

Ans. No, even though your exam starts at 9 AM, you should report at least 2 hours before the exam. There will be security checks and biometric verification before the exam commences. And there will be instructions given by invigilators before the exam. The gate strictly closes at 8:30 AM.
