The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.

Dislikes

I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

Thapar instuites pros and cone

Teacher are coperrative and they give rpoper attention to studenta
Its infrastructure ia very good and it has library where most of all facilites are provided

There are very less events. There scoring method is all not trasparwnt

Plaxemng is good in thia collegw .most of studest get placed in this college with good package. If you put a little nore effort you can get pacake of 20 tp 30 very easily.but to sit in placemnt you have to maintain certain cg

Is Thapar Worth it?

Infrastructure is really nice. Hostel rooms,classrooms are fully furnished and clean. Labs are fully equipped. Hostels have good mess and ven gym and laundry service. The campus is really green and beautiful.
University focuses on overall development of students providing varoius oppurtunities for hackathons, debating , internships etc.
Seniors and Professors are ready to help and motivate the students.

Dislikes

The fees is awfully high. Moreover hostel accomodation is very expensive making it difficult for middle class families to manage.
The schedule can be really hectic with academics, projects and skill learning.
The student intake is high . More than 1000 students in Computer Branch is a lot.

Placement Experience:

The campus does offer placements. Top companies like Google, Apple,Microsoft vist Thapar and even recruit students from here. Students become eligible to apply from 4th semester. Highest offer made was 55 lakh and average is 11 lakh. About 70 to 80 percent of students get placed. My plans after getting degree is to do job for 3 to 4 years and then probably go for masters.

Ambience in the campus is quite and simplistic
Faculty here is top notch and always there to help
The phds are willing to help along and even asks you to work in their project for experience.

Dislikes

Attendance criteria, its the same everywhere at 75% but here in thapar they are serious about it
The city crowd around the campus isnt appropriate for the college students
transportation inside campus is poor, hence its difficult to get to class

Placement Experience:

Campus placements are there but more often a cg cut is applied to shortlist students, the CS students have plenty to choose from but other branches like Biotechnology often struggle to find a core company at the campus placement cell. Average package is somewhere around 8 lakhs inr. Most of the students go for off campus placements if they are unable to score in the campus placements cell.

The professors are so good and friendly and also very well qualified
The marking system is on the basis of average by which all the students are able to score good where as it is also a negative but overall it benefits all students
The placement rates and average packages are so good

Dislikes

The fee structure is really very much that is not affordable for everyone
Classes at 8 am should not be there in winters
The hostel food is so expensive but not worth it

Placement Experience:

In third year their are summer internships opportunities and in 4th years the placements for stude Get started. There is a chance of getting placed in 3rd year but a rare more a summer internship is expected where as in 4th year that is in 7th semester students get their placements on campus as no of good companies start visiting the campus and the placement rated are really good and even increasing. The highest package last year that is 2023 was of approximately INR 55.75 lakh per annum while average package was around INR 11.9 Lakh per annum. The average varies slightle from 13-15 LPA. The university's placement rate consistently remains high typically around 90 percent each year. Top recruiting companies include microsoft, apple, jp morgan chase, amazon, flipkart, providing roles in software development, data analysis and consulting and more.

Class rooms and study material and department
Way of teaching all teachers are iitans and have an experience of 10 years min.
Infrastructure is also good there are many department according to your stream

Dislikes

There is an in time on that tine we have to enter in college and that is 8pm
Hostels also have in time that is 8:30 means you don't have time to enjoy college
There is an time for order also after 11pm you can't order and thing like domino's etc

Form semester 6 student started getting placements. Sorry i have no idea of companies which comes. Highest package is like something 20 lakh in biotech i think and minimum is 5 -6 Approx 70-80 percent gets placement.

My Honest Opinion

Likes

The infrastructure of campus is fantastic.
The professors' knowledge is superb, like they know too much and so helpful.
The placements statistics are great, the placement ratio and numbers are awesome

Dislikes

Sports facility is very bad as there is only 1 badminton indoor court for whole campus.
The hook-up culture in thapar is very bad.
The fees of Thapar for the facilities they provide is too much.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I am interested in computers. The curicullum from second year is relevant for the real-world. I think they should review 1st year course and remove chemistry, manpro, environement from first year, Classes are 4 times a day of 1 hour each and approx. 5 days a week.

The campus location is very good with major cities like chandigarh situated at a distance of 2 hours only, the railway station and bus station are also located nearby. Various hangout spots and places are situated at walking distances.
The campus size is very large and the campus itself consist of a proper football ground,tennis court, cricket ground, indoor badminton courts, walking tracks etc. The campus also consist of an open air theatre.
The campus has a very strict attendance policy and detains at 75% for every branch. Regulary attending classes is a must for students

Dislikes

The fees structure is a bit expensive and many families are not able to afford them.
Patiala is a small city and outside the campus it is not safe for girls
Placement for biotechnology is not very convincing

Placement Experience:

The on campus placements for technical as well as non technicals jobs is pretty decent. Companies like JP Morgand And Chase, ZS, Barclays are some of the mass recruiters For biotechnology though there is very little placements for biotechnology core. Most of the graduates either go for higher education like mtech or MS or they go for jobs in technical feilds.

The campus area and the infrastructure. Too many things to do in campus area which Includes top notch sports facilities and good green areas to walk.
The course is designed to give more exposure to practical knowledge rather on theory.
The boys to girls ratio is very good. The hostels are pretty good.

Dislikes

Very basic mess food as they have a private company contract named sudexo.
The campus restricts you moving out of your hostel after 8:30pm
Too many guards in campus which makes you feel awkward

Placement Experience:

The placement for biotechnology is average around 8lpa and for Cs field it goes upto 14lpa average and many companies visit for interviews and some famous companies like microsoft good do come for placement

College aspects which i like is it's very beautiful campus but ln other hand development fees is too high
I am at good positions in societies which has for sure given me confidence with social interactions.
Faculty here are good and qualified but way to orthodox so you've to study yourself to get what taught

Dislikes

Placements are provided but it's under beauty quota not based on skills
The course curriculum is i feel not making me feel that it has worth in my life.
Infrastructure is very good but is not long term. The hostel are full of moisture and sometimes water falls from ceiling

Placement Experience:

From third semester, students get eligible for campus placements. We have here apple microsoft amazon as well and they do make offers too and get kids from here. Average package is 12 to 14 lpa and last year highest package was 1.25 cr per annum. 80 percent students gets placed. I am into marketing and finance so i would do mba in one of those

Thapar As A Miracle

I have liked the infrastructure, mainly I have liked the library. It has a very good infrastructure. Overall, the college has also very good infrastructure, but I have liked the library more.

Dislikes

The thing I disliked about this colleges that they have provided a fresh event which is of one month, but due to some reasons that was in previous year, it was of one week but 2024. It was going to happen of one month so for that reason, our Saturday

Placement Experience:

Yeah, the placements are pretty decent, yeah, but but people got 55,00,00 maximum placement last year and two students got above 1CR package but that was of campus. Yeah, you got you can get placement of a higher salary package but the main Moto or reason can we say that for getting a high cent package is that you have to focus on your skill you have to create your skill. You have to make yourself better. You have to discipline so that you can get a better GPS so at the end you can sit in all companies if you will have a greater CGP, you can sit in all companies.

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
