The Physics and Chemistry syllabus contains 19 chapters each, while Mathematics consists of 14 chapters. Each subject has 25 questions with 20 MCQs and 5 numerical value questions, making it 75 questions covering all 52 chapters across subjects.

Focus on the most important and easier chapters, which are also highly weighted to secure a mark efficiently, rather than spending excessive time on chapters that are tough and lengthy.”, advises Nova from Pathashala.

Physics Chapters for JEE Main 2026

For JEE Main 2026, there are 19 chapters, focusing on mechanics, electricity, and modern physics. These chapters make up 33% of the paper, with questions often blending theory and application.

It is important to cover the entire set of chapters, including high-yield chapters such as mechanics, optics, and modern physics.

Attempting only 40-50% of the syllabus is insufficient for a good percentile. Instead of skipping chapters, memorise the fundamental formulas for every chapter, as easy questions can come from any chapter.”, says an educator from JEE Wallah.
