1. Sudama Chaiwaala
- Main road from Kirori Mal College towards Ramjas College
Indians are obsessed with tea and we can't think of any reason why Delhi University kids will disagree with us. Well, the famous “Sudama Chai Vaala” stands as a testimony to our love for chai. From Professors to students to security guards, this beautiful stall shows no bias and serves the yummiest and thickest tea in the aromatic “kulhads”. The fragrance of ginger, cardamom, and his signature ingredient, Roses fill the atmosphere and become a bait for all tea-lovers on the campus. A cup of Sudama’s tea is all you need on a day when lectures become too overwhelming or the anxiety regarding semester-end exams starts creeping inside you.
2. Tom Uncle’s Maggi Point
- Opposite to Ramjas College
A conversation about Nightouts with friends and the breaks in between the lectures cannot be completed without mentioning our savior “Maggie”. Each DUiite knows about Tom Uncle and is on a spree to taste all 56 kinds of maggies that are served here. What's more exciting to note is the fact that the very name “Tom” was given by DU students to their beloved Titu uncle who is satisfying their taste buds since almost 25 years now. Situated just outside the Ramjas College, you will see a spot nestled with students waiting to grab their maggie plates in shiny plates coupled with a refreshing cup of cold coffee.
3. QD’s Restaurant
- Hudson Lane, North Campus
Every story about Delhi cannot be completed without mentioning Momos. QD is one such connecting link between North and South Campus as they have franchises in both Hudson Lane and Satya Niketan. All DU students can be seen celebrating birthdays, last exam days, and semester-end results with a plate of steamy tandoori momos on their tables. But, let us give you guys a heads-up so that you can plan out your visit strategically. This cafe is so famous and hyped up that one always has to wait for about 30-40 minutes to get a table during peak hours and weekends.
4. Chache Di Hatti
- Kamla Nagar Market, Opposite lane of Keventers
There is a famous shop in K Nags where you will find long queues of foody customers even before the shop opens for the day. Don't be puzzled if you find DUiites speaking of having C-Bats in K Nags. They are referring to having the yummiest Chole Bhature in Kamla Nagar Market. DU has its charm when it comes to the language as well. Their specialty lies in bhature stuffed with spicy potato mix that gives this place its own identity in Delhi- a city that cannot breathe without having Chole Bhature on a lazy Sunday morning.
5. Sunil’s Bhelpuri Stall
- Near Patel Chest Institute, Arts Faculty
On the days when you don't feel like having a full-fledged meal but don't want to wrap up your day without a yummy snack, feel free to walk towards the Patel Chest Institute. Situated between the lush green trees on both sides, you will see a small cart that is always surrounded by a flock of hungry Duiites ready to satisfy their taste buds with a plate of Bhel puri coupled with a steaming cup of chai from the nearby Patel Chest Chaiwaala.
Sunil Sethi has been serving delicious bhelpuri chaat to its admirers for more than 20 years. He is lovingly referred to as “Sethi Uncle” by the students and can often be witnessed laughing with them.
