NEET Merit List 2026: State-wise Merit Lists and All India Quota (AIQ) Merit List, Good Score, and Marks vs Rank

The NEET UG 2026 Merit List has been released along with the NEET 2026 result on July 16, 2026, at neet.nta.nic.in.

One thing you need to note is that NTA does not release a separate Re NEET 2026 Merit list. Candidates will be able to download their NEET 2026 scorecards, which contain AIR, category rank, percentile, marks and qualifying status. 

• NEET state merit lists 2026 will be published separately by the respective counselling authorities based on NEET AIR, reservation policy, and domicile criteria.
• The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will use the NEET UG 2026 All India Rank for 15% AIQ counselling, while individual states will release their own state-wise merit lists for 85% state quota admissions based on NEET rank, reservation policy, and domicile rules.
• Candidates can download their NEET UG 2026 scorecards using their Application Number, Date of Birth, and Security Pin.
• Aryan Gupta (Punjab) and Panshul Bansal (Haryana) jointly secured AIR 1 with 715 out of 720 marks.
• Out of more than 20 lakh candidates who appeared, 11.21 lakh qualified the examination. Only 19 candidates scored above 700 marks, while 138 candidates secured 690 marks or above.
• Candidates can download their NEET UG 2026 scorecard using their Application Number, Date of Birth, and Security Pin.

As per the latest NEET UG 2026 seat matrix, India now has 1,29,603 MBBS seats across 824 medical colleges, including 63,160 government and 66,443 private/deemed seats in 374 private and deemed colleges, reflecting an increase of around 5,000 MBBS seats. – NMC.

What is State Merit List in NEET?

The NEET Merit List 2026 is an official list of qualified students in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET 2026. NTA releases the merit list on its official website in three forms: All India Rank Merit List, 15% All India Quota Merit List and Category-wise Merit Lists.

The NTA releases the NEET Merit lists in 3 types: All India Merit List (AIR), 15% All India Quota (AIQ) Merit List, and State-wise Merit Lists.

Does NTA Release the Re-NEET 2026 Merit List?

No. The National Testing Agency (NTA) does not release a separate Re-NEET 2026 merit list. Instead, it publishes the NEET UG 2026 scorecard, which includes the candidate's marks, percentile, All India Rank (AIR), and category rank. These ranks are used by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and state counselling authorities for MBBS, BDS, and other medical admissions.

The NTA released the NEET Merit List 2024 on 14 June 2024 along with the NEET Result 2024 in the PDF format for the individual state and Rounds, the candidates can downlaod the NEET Merit list 2024 in PDf format.

NEET Previous Year Merit List (2023-2021)

In NEET 2023, Over 20 lakh candidates registered, and 11 lakh qualified. Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh were the top-ranked states, with the highest score being 720.

• With a high score of 715 and top rankings from Rajasthan, Delhi (NCT), and Karnataka, 18.72 lakh candidates registered for NEET 2022.
• In the NEET 2021, over 16 lakh candidates registered for the exam, which had a high score of 720 and top performers from Telangana and Delhi (NCT).
• In each of the three years, candidates with scores ranging from 715 to 720 received the highest rankings.

NEET Good Score 2026

The NEET 2026 exam is over now, conducted at more than 5000 exam centres across India and International locations. According to the Times of India reports, the students' reaction shows mixed experience; one aspirant said that the overall paper was easy and the Physics questions were manageable. Another student in conversation with @IANS_India shared that the NEET 2026 paper was very good with all manageable sections.

• This year, around 22.79 lakh students have registered for the NEET 2026 exam.
• Therefore, even if the overall paper will be easy, the NEET cutoff 2026 will see a significant rise due to the limited number of seats and tough competition among students.
• A single mark will be the deciding factor whether you will get a government or private medical college through NEET 2026 marks vs rank.
• Based on students' reactions, a score above 650 marks in the NEET 2026 will be safe for admission into AIIMS colleges in India.
• For other reputed government medical Colleges in India, the NEET 2026 safe score will be around 550-600 marks out of 720.

Is NEET 270 a good score?

A score of 270 in the NEET 2026 exam is considered a low score. Based on the past NEET trends, this mark will place the candidate in the rank range of 657,138 to 774,559 in the NEET merit list 2026. Such a rank does not meet the cutoff for admission to the government medical colleges under the AIQ (15%) or State Quota (85%).
