NEET Syllabus 2027 is prescribed by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) at neet.nta.nic.in. The syllabus covers Physics, Chemistry, and Biology from NCERT Class 11 and Class 12 across 79 chapters. As of August 2026, the official NEET 2027 notification has not been released — the NMC-revised syllabus currently used for NEET 2025 and 2026 is the valid preparation reference. You should begin preparing from this syllabus immediately — no major changes are expected for the 2027 cycle.

  • The NEET 2027 syllabus covers 3 subjects: Physics (28 chapters), Chemistry (19 chapters), and Biology — Botany + Zoology (32 chapters) — totalling 79 chapters after NMC’s 2023 revision.
  • Biology carries the highest weightage at 50% (360 marks, 90 questions); Physics and Chemistry each carry 25% (180 marks, 45 questions).
  • The NEET 2027 syllabus is expected to remain unchanged from the NMC-revised framework — no official additions or deletions have been announced as of August 2026.
  • NMC’s 2023 revision removed 18 chapters from the earlier syllabus — including Communication Systems (Physics), Environmental Chemistry (Chemistry), Reproduction in Organisms, Strategies for Enhancement in Food Production, and Environmental Issues (Biology).
  • Around 80–85% of NEET questions are answerable directly from NCERT Class 11 and 12 textbooks.
  • The official NEET 2027 syllabus PDF will be available at nmc.org.in and neet.nta.nic.in after the official notification, expected in November 2026.
  • NEET 2027 may shift from pen-and-paper to CBT (Computer Based Test) mode — the Union Education Ministry is evaluating this change; no official confirmation has been issued as of August 2026.

You must prepare from the NMC-prescribed syllabus only — older syllabi that include deleted chapters will waste your preparation time.

NEET 2027 Syllabus: Overview

NEET UG is India’s single national-level medical entrance exam. NTA conducts it on behalf of NMC. The NMC prescribes the syllabus from NCERT Class 11 and 12 content. The 2023 NMC revision reduced the syllabus from 97 chapters to 79 by removing redundant and overlapping topics. The special rule for NEET: always check the NMC-prescribed list at nmc.org.in — NCERT books contain more chapters than what NMC tests in NEET.

NEET 2027 Syllabus: What’s New?

NEET 2027 Syllabus: What’s New?

No official syllabus revision for NEET 2027 has been announced as of August 2026. The NMC-revised syllabus used for NEET 2025 and 2026 is the current reference. Two significant developments are worth tracking before the official notification.

Development Details Confirmed as of August 2026?
Syllabus Content No new chapter additions or deletions announced for NEET 2027. Syllabus remains at 79 chapters — Physics: 28, Chemistry: 19, Biology: 32. No official change announced
CBT Mode The Union Education Ministry is evaluating a shift from pen-and-paper to Computer Based Test format. The change, if implemented, will not affect syllabus content — only exam delivery. Under review — not officially confirmed
Physical Chemistry Chapters No deletions or additions to Physical Chemistry have been officially announced for 2027. All Physical Chemistry chapters — Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Surface Chemistry (Class 12) and Basic Concepts, Structure of Atom, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium (Class 11) — remain in the syllabus. No change — chapters retained as-is

The safest strategy is to complete the existing 79-chapter syllabus thoroughly. If NMC announces any reduction, it will only help — a topic you studied that gets removed was never wasted effort.

NEET 2027 Preparation Strategy

NEET 2027 Preparation Strategy

With the exam expected in May 2027 and today being August 2026, you have approximately 9 months. Cover the full 79-chapter syllabus once by January 2027. Use February to April for revision and mock tests.

Physics Preparation for NEET 2027

  • Start with NCERT Physics — master every derivation and worked example before opening any MCQ book.
  • Focus on the 6 highest-weightage chapters first: Optics, Electrostatics, Rigid Body Dynamics, Current Electricity, Thermodynamics, and Electronic Devices.
  • Solve 30–50 PYQs per chapter before moving to reference books — PYQ patterns reveal exactly how NTA frames questions.
  • Use H.C. Verma for conceptual clarity and D.C. Pandey for NEET-format MCQ practice at chapter close.
  • Do not prepare Communication Systems — it is permanently removed from the NMC syllabus.

Chemistry Preparation for NEET 2027

  • Split Chemistry into three separate study tracks: Physical, Organic, and Inorganic.
  • For Inorganic Chemistry, read NCERT word-for-word and highlight key properties, compounds, and reactions. Most NEET Inorganic questions come directly from NCERT text — no external book needed.
  • For Organic Chemistry, master reaction mechanisms before memorising outcomes — understanding prevents rote-learning of hundreds of reactions.
  • For Physical Chemistry, solve 10–15 numericals from Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, and Chemical Kinetics every day.
  • Chemical Bonding (8% weightage) and Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids (7%) give the highest marks-per-hour return in Chemistry.

Biology Preparation for NEET 2027

  • Read NCERT Biology at least 4–5 times cover-to-cover — including examples, tables, bold text, and every diagram caption.
  • Human Physiology (~20% of Biology marks) covers 7 chapters — master all of them, especially excretion, circulation, and neural and hormonal coordination.
  • Genetics (Principles of Inheritance + Molecular Basis of Inheritance) accounts for 10–12 questions per paper — treat it as your highest-priority investment in Biology.
  • Reproduce every key NCERT diagram from memory — NEET diagram-based questions are common in Cell Biology, Reproductive Biology, and Ecology.
  • Ecology (3 chapters) gives high marks for low preparation effort — cover it in the last 2 months of preparation as a score booster.

General NEET 2027 Strategy

  • Complete the entire syllabus at least 3 months before the exam date. Use the final 3 months for revision only.
  • Take one full-length mock test every week from January 2027 onwards. If NEET moves to CBT mode, practise on NTA’s Abhyas platform from the beginning.
  • Maintain a mistake log — write down every error in mock tests and revisit within 24 hours. Errors that are not corrected immediately tend to repeat.
  • The –1 negative mark is expensive — only attempt questions where you can confidently eliminate at least two options.
NEET Syllabus 2027 FAQs

NEET Syllabus 2027 FAQs

Ques. Is the NEET 2027 syllabus the same as NEET 2026?

Ans. Yes, the NEET 2027 syllabus is expected to follow the same NMC-revised 79-chapter framework used for NEET 2025 and 2026. No official revision has been announced as of August 2026. The NEET 2027 notification (expected November 2026) will confirm the final syllabus. Students should prepare from the current NMC-prescribed syllabus immediately without waiting for a new notification.

Ques. How many chapters are in the NEET 2027 syllabus?

Ans. The NEET 2027 syllabus has 79 chapters in total — 28 in Physics, 19 in Chemistry, and 32 in Biology (Botany + Zoology combined). This is reduced from the earlier 97-chapter syllabus. NMC removed 18 chapters in 2023, including Communication Systems (Physics), Environmental Chemistry, Polymers, and Chemistry in Everyday Life (Chemistry), and Reproduction in Organisms, Strategies for Enhancement in Food Production, and Environmental Issues (Biology).

Ques. Which subject has the highest weightage in NEET 2027?

Ans. Biology carries the highest weightage — 360 marks out of 720 (50% of the total score). It includes 90 questions split between Botany and Zoology. Physics and Chemistry each carry 180 marks (25% each). Securing 320 or above out of 360 in Biology is a realistic target for students who read NCERT Biology thoroughly 4–5 times.

Ques. Is NCERT enough for NEET 2027 preparation?

Ans. NCERT is the primary and most critical resource for all three NEET subjects. For Biology and Inorganic Chemistry, NCERT alone covers over 90% of questions. For Physics, NCERT builds the conceptual foundation — supplement it with H.C. Verma for numericals. For Organic Chemistry, NCERT covers the theory but a dedicated problems book (like M.S. Chouhan) improves reaction-mechanism fluency. Do not switch to a reference book until you have completely mastered the corresponding NCERT chapters.

Ques. Where can I download the official NEET 2027 syllabus PDF?

Ans. The official NEET 2027 syllabus PDF will be available at nmc.org.in and neet.nta.nic.in after the official notification is released — expected November 2026. As of August 2026, the NEET 2027 PDF has not been published. The current NMC-revised syllabus PDF (available at nmc.org.in) is the valid reference for 2027 preparation until the official notification is out.

Ques. Which are the most important chapters in Physics for NEET 2027?

Ans. Based on PYQ analysis (2019–2024), the highest-weightage Physics chapters are Optics (10%), Electrostatics (9%), Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body (7%), Current Electricity (6%), Electronic Devices (6%), and Thermodynamics (6%). These six chapters together account for over 44% of Physics marks. Mastering them first gives the highest return per study hour.

Ques. Has the NEET syllabus been revised for 2027?

Ans. No official revision for NEET 2027 has been announced as of August 2026. The last major revision was the 2023 NMC rationalisation, which reduced the syllabus from 97 to 79 chapters. The official NEET 2027 syllabus PDF is expected with the November 2026 notification at nmc.org.in. Until then, the 79-chapter NMC-revised syllabus is your preparation reference.

Ques. What books should I follow for Biology in NEET 2027?

Ans. The top three Biology books for NEET 2027: (1) NCERT Biology Class 11 and 12 — the primary resource; read it 4–5 times including all diagrams and captions. (2) Trueman’s Objective Biology (Vol. 1 and 2) — NEET-focused MCQ practice after NCERT; widely used by toppers. (3) MTG NEET Champion Biology — concise theory plus 1500+ MCQs for chapter-wise revision. Solve the MTG 40 Years NEET-AIPMT PYQ collection chapter-by-chapter alongside these books.

Ques. Will NEET 2027 be CBT (online) or pen-and-paper?

Ans. As of August 2026, NEET 2027’s exam mode has not been officially confirmed. The Union Education Ministry is evaluating a shift to Computer Based Test (CBT) format following the 2024 paper-leak incident. The official exam mode will be announced with the NEET 2027 notification in November 2026. Whether the exam is pen-and-paper or CBT, the syllabus content remains the same. If CBT is confirmed, practise on NTA’s official Abhyas platform from the start.

Ques. Is Coordination Compounds important for NEET 2027 Chemistry?

Ans. Yes, Coordination Compounds is one of the most frequently tested Chemistry chapters in NEET — it typically contributes 3 questions (12 marks) per paper. Focus areas: IUPAC nomenclature of complexes; isomerism types (geometrical, optical, ionisation, linkage); Crystal Field Theory (strong vs. weak field ligands, high vs. low spin); Werner’s theory; biological importance (haemoglobin as a coordination compound). Questions follow predictable patterns, making this chapter high-return for the effort invested.

Ques. Does the NEET 2027 syllabus include Environmental Issues?

Ans. No. Environmental Issues (Class 12 Biology) was removed from the NMC NEET syllabus in 2023. You should not prepare this chapter for NEET 2027. NMC also removed Strategies for Enhancement in Food Production and Reproduction in Organisms in the same revision. Always verify deleted chapters against the official NMC syllabus PDF to avoid preparing removed content.

Ques. How should I cover the full NEET 2027 syllabus in time?

Ans. With 9 months from August 2026 to May 2027: Months 1–5 (Aug–Dec 2026) — cover all 79 chapters once, targeting 2–3 chapters per week per subject; solve PYQs at the end of each chapter. Months 6–8 (Jan–Mar 2027) — first full revision plus weekly full-length mock tests. Month 9 (Apr–May 2027) — only mock tests and targeted revision of weak chapters. If NEET 2027 moves to CBT mode, start NTA Abhyas platform practice from Month 4 onwards.
