NEET 2026 Exam Day Guidelines: Check Exam Schedule, Documents to Carry, Dress Code, Prohibited and Allowed Items

NTA has released some student-friendly measures for the Re-NEET exam 2026 on its official website, neet.nta.nic.in. The measures include the extra 15 minutes for examination formalities, an increase in rough sheets, and a change in the design of question paper booklet.

Candidates must follow these instructions to ensure a smooth conduct of the examination:

• The candidates should reach the exam centre on or before the last reporting time, i.e. 12:30 PM, to enable frisking.
• The candidates can carry only the necessary documents such as an admit card, a photograph and a valid identity proof.
• The electronic items, such as mobile phones, digital watches, and Bluetooth devices, are not allowed inside the exam centres.
• Candidates should wear light and plain clothes with slippers as footwear for smooth entry to the exam centre.

Candidates wearing traditional or customary dress should reach the exam centre at least 1 hour before the last reporting time.

NEET 2026 Exam Day Guidelines: Dress Code

To ensure fairness and avoid malpractices, the NTA has enforced a strict dress code for the NEET 2026 exam.

• The candidates can carry transparent water bottles and the necessary documents, such as the admit card.
• Candidates are allowed to wear objects of religious faith, subject to early reporting to enable frisking.
• Light clothing is preferred. However, candidates who feel needed can also wear full sleeves or woollens.
• Slippers and low heels are the preferred choice for footwear.

The exam centre will be opened 3 hours before the commencement of the exam i.e 11:00 AM. The candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination centre after 1:30 PM.

• Candidates must ensure that they leave home well in advance, considering all facts like traffic, location of the Centre, weather conditions, etc.
• Candidates are expected to take their seats immediately after the opening of the Examination Hall.

Given below are the general instructions to be followed by the candidates in the exam hall:

• Candidates must show the admit card to get admission to the exam hall. Candidates without admit cards will not be allowed to enter.
• Candidates must sit in their seats with their roll number on it.
• The invigilator will sign your answer sheet and check your admit card to verify your identity.
• Candidates must bring only the necessary documents to the exam centre.
• Candidates are not allowed to carry any barred items to the exam centre.
• There will be no arrangements made for safekeeping your valuables, so keep your valuables at home.
• Candidates will not be allowed to leave the examination hall before the test concludes.
• The test will start exactly at the time mentioned in the NEET 2026 admit card.
• The invigilator will communicate important instructions to the candidates.
• A signal will be given at the beginning of the examination and at half-time. A signal will also be given before the closing time when the candidate must stop marking the responses.

If you face any technical issues, here are some things to do during the NEET exam:

• Stay calm and inform the invigilator: If you face any technical issues, such as a computer crash or a power outage, immediately notify the invigilator.
• Follow the instructions given by the invigilator: The invigilator will guide you on what steps to take next.
• Wait for the technical issue to be resolved: In most cases, technical issues can be resolved within a few minutes.

NEET UG 2026: Unfair Means Practices

As per the official information bulletin published by NTA for NEET UG 2026, Unfair means practices refer to any activity that allows a candidate to gain an unfair advantage over other candidates.

It refers to actions by a candidate that violate Examination rules and compromise the integrity, fairness, or confidentiality of the Exam.

Punishment for using Unfair Means Practices: During the examination process, if a candidate indulges in any of the above practices, he/she will be booked under the UFM case.

• A committee will be constituted to review all UFM cases.
• The candidate may be debarred for up to 3 years in the future and shall also be liable for criminal action and /or any other action as deemed fit by NTA.
• The result of NEET UG 2026 of the candidates who indulge in Unfair Means Practices will be cancelled and will not be declared.
