MHT CET 2026 (Maharashtra Health Sciences and Technical Common Entrance Test) is conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET Cell), Maharashtra for admission to B.Tech, B.E., B.Pharm, Pharm.D, and allied health science and agriculture programmes across the state. This year, for the first time, the exam was held in two sessions — Session 1 in April and Session 2 in May 2026 — and a record 11.64 lakh unique candidates registered, the highest in the exam’s history. All four session results are now declared, with the final PCM Session 2 result out on June 19, 2026. CAP (Centralised Admission Process) counselling registration opened on June 28, 2026 at cetcell.mahacet.org — students must register now before the window closes.
- CAP Registration (Ongoing — Act Now): MHT CET 2026 CAP counselling registration is open as of June 28, 2026 at cetcell.mahacet.org. The registration deadline is expected in July 2026. Every candidate who appeared in MHT CET 2026 must register separately for CAP — appearing in the exam alone does not guarantee a seat.
- Provisional Merit List: CET Cell will release the provisional merit list in July 2026. For candidates who appeared in both sessions, the best-of-two percentile is automatically used. In 2025, the merit list was declared approximately 3–4 weeks after results were published.
- CAP Round 1 Seat Allotment: CAP Round 1 seat allotment is expected in July–August 2026, following choice filling after the merit list. In 2025, Round 1 allotment was declared in the first week of August. The Round 1 cutoff will be published alongside the allotment.
- CAP Round 1 Cutoff: MHT CET 2026 CAP Round 1 official cutoffs are expected in August 2026. In 2025, VJTI Mumbai CSE (General) closed at 99.90+ percentile and COEP Pune CSE closed at 99.67–99.90 percentile in Round 1 — use these as a planning reference until 2026 cutoffs are officially declared.
What is MHT CET 2026?
MHT CET 2026, or Maharashtra Health Sciences and Technical Common Entrance Test, is a state-level Computer-Based Test (CBT) conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET Cell), Maharashtra. It is the main gateway for admission to engineering (B.Tech / B.E.), pharmacy (B.Pharm, Pharm.D), and agriculture and health sciences programmes at government, government-aided, and private colleges across Maharashtra.
The exam has two groups: PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) for engineering and pharmacy aspirants, and PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) for pharmacy, agriculture, and health sciences aspirants. A student can appear in both groups. In 2026, MHT CET was held in two sessions for the first time — Session 1 in April and Session 2 in May — giving students a second opportunity to improve their score within the same admission cycle. The best of the two percentile scores is used for merit ranking during CAP counselling.
MHT CET 2026 set a new record with 11.64 lakh unique candidate registrations — the highest in the exam’s history. Total appearances across both sessions combined reached approximately 16.29 lakh, with around 7.39 lakh PCM appearances and 3.6 lakh PCB appearances.

Key Points About the MHT CET 2026 Exam Pattern
- No negative marking: Wrong answers carry zero marks. You should attempt every question — never leave anything blank.
- Mathematics dominates PCM scoring: Mathematics carries 100 out of 200 marks (2 marks per question). Scoring well in Mathematics has the single largest impact on your PCM percentile.
- Biology dominates PCB scoring: Biology carries 100 out of 200 marks in the PCB group. Genetics, Human Physiology, and Biotechnology have the highest question frequency.
- Section timer is independent: Each 90-minute section is timed separately. You cannot return to Section 1 once the timer expires and Section 2 begins.
- Paper available in four languages: English, Hindi, Marathi, and Urdu.
- Best-of-two score policy: For candidates who appeared in both sessions, CET Cell uses the higher of the two percentile scores for the merit list automatically.
- Normalization applied: Scores are normalized across shifts to account for varying difficulty levels before percentiles are computed.
- Syllabus split: 20% of questions in every paper come from Class 11 and 80% from Class 12 topics.

MHT CET 2026 Answer Key
CET Cell released provisional and final answer keys for all sessions of MHT CET 2026. After each provisional release, candidates could challenge individual answers by paying a fee per question. CET Cell reviewed all objections and published final answer keys, which were used to compute result scores.
| Session and Group | Final Answer Key Released | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Session 1 — PCB | May 21, 2026 | (Out) |
| Session 2 — PCM | May 28, 2026 | (Out) |

Since MHT CET 2026 was conducted across multiple shifts and two sessions, raw scores are not directly comparable between candidates. CET Cell applies a percentile-based normalization process to account for difficulty variations between shifts. The percentile figure on your scorecard — not your raw marks — determines your rank and eligibility for CAP.
MHT CET 2026 Result
All four MHT CET 2026 results are declared. CET Cell released results in a staggered manner, starting with PCB Session 1 on June 8, 2026, and completing with PCM Session 2 on June 19, 2026. You can download your scorecard by logging into the official portal.

Best-of-Two Score Policy
If you appeared in both sessions, CET Cell automatically picks the higher of your two percentile scores for the merit list. You do not need to make a separate request — the system handles this automatically when computing the provisional merit list after CAP registration closes.
MHT CET 2026 Marks vs Percentile
Your MHT CET percentile is not a direct conversion from your raw marks. CET Cell uses a normalization process across shifts to ensure fair comparison. The percentile shows what percentage of candidates scored equal to or below you. The tables below show expected marks-to-percentile ranges based on 2025–26 data and are for reference only — your official scorecard percentile is the authoritative figure.
PCM Group — Expected Marks vs Percentile (2026)
| Marks (out of 200) | Expected Percentile | Approximate Rank |
|---|---|---|
| 165–200 | 99.99–100.00 | Top 100 |
| 150–164 | 99.50–99.99 | Top 500–2,000 |
| 135–149 | 99.00–99.50 | 2,000–7,500 |

- Log in using your MHT CET 2026 registered email ID and password.
- Fill in personal details, educational background, and category information in the CAP registration form.
- Upload required documents: scanned photograph (4–100 KB) and signature (1–30 KB) in the specified format.
- Pay the CAP registration fee online. The amount varies by category.
- Report to a designated Facilitation Centre (FC) with all original documents for physical document verification.
- Once verified, you will be included in the provisional merit list.
- After the final merit list is published, fill in your college and course preferences during the choice-filling window. Rank as many options as possible — more preferences improve your chance of a good allotment.
- Check seat allotment results after each round. Choose to Freeze, Float, or Slide based on your satisfaction with the allotment.
- Report to your allotted institute within the deadline to confirm admission. Failure to report forfeits the seat.
Understanding Freeze, Float, and Slide in CAP
After each round of allotment, you must choose one of three options:
- Freeze: You are satisfied with the allotted seat. You accept it and exit the CAP pool. You must report to the allotted institute within the deadline.
- Float: You accept the current seat but want a better option. You stay in the pool for the next round. If a better allotment is available in Round 2 or 3, it replaces the current one. If not, you keep the existing seat.
- Slide: You want a better branch within the same institute. If a preferred branch becomes available at the same college in the next round, you get it. Otherwise your current branch is retained.

MHT CET 2026 Preparation Tips
If you are preparing for a future MHT CET cycle or coaching younger students, here is a practical strategy based on the 2026 exam pattern and difficulty analysis.
- Start with Maharashtra Board textbooks: The entire MHT CET syllabus is from MSBSHSE Class 11 and 12. Read every chapter in Maharashtra Board textbooks before using coaching notes or reference books. This single step covers most of what you need and nothing else can replace it.
- Prioritise Class 12 over Class 11: 80% of MHT CET questions are from Class 12. Cover Class 12 thoroughly first, then pick up the 20% from Class 11. Do not split your time equally between the two.
- Mathematics is the game-changer in PCM: With 100 out of 200 marks, Mathematics has the largest impact on your PCM percentile. Spend extra time on Integration, Vectors, Probability, and Matrices. Mastering one difficult Mathematics topic can lift your rank by thousands.
- Biology is your foundation in PCB: Biology carries 100 marks in PCB. Genetics, Human Physiology, Plant Physiology, and Biotechnology appear every year with high frequency. Study diagrams carefully — many questions are visual.
- Never leave any question blank: There is no negative marking. Always attempt every question. Eliminate clearly wrong options first and then pick the best remaining answer if you are unsure.
- Practice timed mock tests: Solve 5–6 previous year MHT CET papers (2021–2025) under actual exam conditions. The 90-minute section timer is strict — regular mock tests build the habit of managing it efficiently.
- Plan your time within each section: In PCM, do not spend more than 2 minutes on any single Mathematics question. If stuck, skip it and come back. In PCB, Biology questions are usually quicker — aim to complete them in 50–55 minutes and use remaining time to review.
- Use the two-attempt system smartly: If Session 1 goes below expectations, review every mistake during the gap between sessions. Focus intensively on your weakest chapters and attempt additional full-length mocks before Session 2.
