Can I get DU with 400 marks in CUET?

Delhi University (DU) admission via CUET varies based on course, college, category, and cut-off trends.

Overall, a CUET 2025 score of 400 is moderate, and although it might not be sufficient for high-demand courses in top DU colleges, such as B.Com (Hons) or BA (Hons) Economics, it might still get seats in less competitive courses or off-campus colleges, particularly under reserved categories.

Course Type Admission Chances with 400 Marks College Type
High-Demand Courses(B.Com Hons, Eco Hons, BA Pol Science) Very Low Top Colleges(SRCC, LSR, Hindu)
Mid-Tier Courses(BA Programme, B.Sc General) Moderate to Low Mid-Tier Colleges(Motilal Nehru, PGDAV)
Niche/Language Courses(BA Sanskrit, BA Urdu) Good chances Off-Campus Colleges
Reserved Category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) Higher chances depending on course Mid to Low Tier Colleges

CUET UG 2025 Seat Reservation

CUET UG 2025 follows the reservation policy of the Government of India for central universities' admissions.

  • Reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS, and PwD candidates are assigned a certain percentage of seats to guarantee equal opportunity.
  • Universities may have separate seat reservation policies by regional/state quota.

CUET UG 2025 Seat Reservation Policy (General Guidelines)

Category Reservation Percentage
Scheduled Caste (SC) 15%
Scheduled Tribe (ST) 7.5%
Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) 27%
Economically Weaker Section (EWS) 10%
Persons with Disabilities (PwD) 5% (within category seats)

What is a good rank in CUET?

The Good rank in CUET UG 2025 depends upon the preferred university, course, and category.

  • If a candidate scores a rank in the first 5,000, then it is quite good for entry into top colleges of DU, BHU, JNU, etc. for competitive courses.
  • For lower competitive courses and colleges, a rank up to 50,000 can also ensure a good seat.

Reserved category candidates may be offered opportunities at slightly lower ranks because of cut-off relaxation.

Is 400 a good score in CUET?

A score of 400 is considered as an average to moderately good score depending upon the university and program a candidate is aiming for.

Although top DU colleges and top central universities typically demand higher scores (600+), a 400 score can still get you into state universities, private colleges, and some mid-level programs.

CUET 2025 : 4 Answered Questions

Ques. My CUET total score is 280 out of 750, so which colleges should I go to?

Scoring 280 out of 750 in CUET will restrict your choices among the highly competitive central universities to some extent. But you have many more opportunities waiting for you at state, private, and part of the central universities—if you are willing to accept a range of courses and destinations. 280 out of 750 is equal to approximately 37%. Top-tier colleges such as DU, BHU, and JNU typically have their cutoffs significantly higher, typically even beyond 600, which makes it impossible to secure admission into their more demanding courses with this marking. But this doesn't leave you with nothing! There are plenty of other decent colleges with lower cutoffs and equally good education. Some Central and State Universities have comparatively lower competition, like the Central University of Haryana, Central University of Karnataka, Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya (Sagar), Mahatma Gandhi Central University etc. They can offer admissions in general courses like BA, BSc, or BCom. Private Colleges and Universities The majority of the best private colleges accept CUET scores and offer relaxed cutoffs. Examples are colleges like KCC Institute of Technology & Management and other state board-associated private universities. University Type Likelihood of Admission Courses Likely Available Top Central Universities (DU, BHU, JNU, AMU) Very unlikely None (cutoffs much higher) Mid-/Lower-Tier Central/State Universities Possible General BA, BSc, BCom, etc. Private Universities/Colleges Good Wide range, including vocational Keep visiting the official university websites for the latest CUET cutoffs and admission rules. Applying to more than one university can work in your favor. Get ready to accept alternative campuses and pathways; sometimes the best opportunities can surprise you....Read More

Ques. Which subject is considered for determining the CUET cutoff for admission to HNBGU?

The subjects considered for the CUET cutoff at HNBGU depend on the course you’re applying for.  – For B.Tech courses: Your CUET scores in Physics, Chemistry, and Math are considered.  – For B.Sc. (like Agriculture, Horticulture, Biology, etc.): Subjects like Biology, Agriculture, Chemistry, or Math will be used—whichever is relevant to the course.  – For BA/B.Com or other non-science courses: The university verifies particular subjects needed for that course (listed in their subject mapping). Example:  B.Sc. Horticulture ? CUET score in Biology or Agriculture B.Tech CSE ? CUET score in PCM BA (any subject) ? Depends on the subject you select (like History, Political Science, etc.) Admission Type Eligible After Entry Year Notes Regular BCA 10+2 or Diploma 1st Year Any stream; some colleges require math/CS. Ques. I got low marks in CUET, but my UG marks and board marks fit the eligibility criteria. Is there any way I can get into NIT?

No, NIT admissions are not based on CUET scores. NITs accept only JEE Main scores for UG courses such as B.Tech. No matter how well you've done in your Class 12th board and have fulfilled the eligibility criteria, CUET is not acceptable for NIT admission. Here’s what you need to know: Criteria NIT Admission Requirement Entrance Exam JEE Main only CUET Score Not accepted Class 12th Marks Minimum 75% or top 20 percentile in respective board If your goal is to get into an NIT, appearing for JEE Main is a must.   If you have performed decent in CUET, you can attempt to get admission to top central universities and other colleges that accept CUET scores for B.Tech or other undergraduate degrees.  – Delhi University (DU)  – Banaras Hindu University (BHU)  – Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University  = Aligarh Muslim University and similar institutions....Read More
