CUET exam is conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) for admission to UG programs like BA, BSc, BCom, BBA, BCA, BA LLB, and BTech/BE. As per last year's CUET Information Bulletin, the examination is conducted in 13 languages across the country for 37 subjects. Subjects for which CUET is conducted include 13 Languages, 23 Domain Subjects, and 1 Aptitude Test.
Based on the past year’s CUET UG dates, you can expect the CUET application form to be available on the official website at cuet.nta.nic.in from 1 March 2026 to 22 March 2026. After the application process is over, you can expect the CUET UG 2026 exams to be conducted in May 2026 in different shifts.
- To apply for the CUET UG exam 2026, you must have completed class 12th or equivalent in any stream from any recognized board or institute.
- While applying for the CUET UG exam, you must pay an application fee of INR 1,000 (UR), INR 900 (OBC-NCL / EWS), INR 800 (SC/ST/PwD/PwBD/ Third gender), and INR 4,500 (centers outside India) for up to 3 subjects.
- For each additional subject, you must pay INR 400 (UR), INR 375 (OBC-NCL / EWS), INR 350 (SC/ST/PwD/PwBD/ Third gender), and INR 1,800 (centers outside India).
- You can choose a maximum of 5 subjects while applying for CUET UG 2026.
- As per the Information Bulletin, the CUET exam syllabus will be based on the NCERT syllabus for domain subjects.
- 50 questions will be asked in each test paper. As per the CUET UG marking scheme, 5 marks will be awarded for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
- You will be allowed to solve each test paper in a total of 60 minutes.
In the year 2025, the CUET exam witnessed more than 13.4 lakh registrations and 11.6 lakh candidates who had appeared for the exam. In 2026, it is expected that 15 lakh applicants will apply for the exam, with an increasing number of universities accepting CUET scores for admissions.
As of now, 250+ universities, 45 Central Universities (Delhi University, BHU, JNU, Allahabad University, AMU), 37 State Universities, 32 Deemed Universities, and 130+ Private Universities accept CUET scores.

What is CUET?
Common University Entrance Test or CUET is an examination conducted by NTA for admission to various undergraduate programs like BA, BSc, BTech, BBA, etc. Admission to UG courses based on CUET is offered by central universities, state universities, deemed universities, private universities, and other government institutions. CUET was first conducted as CUCET (Central Universities Common Entrance Test) in 2010 to offer admission to candidates in central universities across the country. In the beginning, CUET was conducted for 12 universities by the Central University of Rajasthan. In 2021, NTA (National Testing Agency) took over CUCET and revamped it as CUET as a part of the National Education Policy 2020, and included 45 central universities and other institutions. The examination was first time conducted as CUET in March 2022.
Latest Changes in CUET 2026
- No Restriction on Subjects: As per the latest CUET guidelines, students can choose any subjects for CUET examination regardless of Class 12 subjects.
- Only CBT Mode: CUET exam will be conducted only in CBT mode.
- Subject Choices Reduced: In CUET, the number of subject choices has been reduced from 63 to 37, and Entrepreneurship, Teaching Aptitude, and Legal Studies subjects have been removed.
- General Aptitude Test for Removed Subjects: For subjects removed from CUET exam, admission will be based on General Aptitude Test paper.
- Exam Duration: Duration of the question paper for each subject will be 60 minutes.
