The CUET syllabus divides into three sections. Section I tests your chosen language through comprehension and grammar MCQs. Section II tests domain-specific content from NCERT Class 12. Section III (GAT) tests general aptitude and is required by many universities for programmes with no specific domain subject.

The General Aptitude Test (GAT) is Section III of CUET. Many universities require GAT scores for programmes where no specific domain subject is prescribed. Section I of CUET tests language proficiency in 13 languages. You must choose at least one language paper. The language paper does not test a specific textbook’s literature — it evaluates comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar through passage-based MCQs.

CUET 2027 Syllabus FAQs
Ques. Is the CUET 2027 syllabus the same as the 2026 syllabus?
Ans. The CUET 2027 official syllabus has not been released yet (as of August 2026). It is expected with the NTA information bulletin in January 2027. CUET 2026 introduced a major revision — the number of subject papers was reduced from 63 to 37 and 15 subjects saw topic-level changes. CUET 2027 is expected to continue with the same 37-subject structure, but students must check cuet.nta.nic.in for any further changes once the 2027 bulletin releases.
Ques. How many subjects are in the CUET 2027 syllabus?
Ans. The CUET 2027 syllabus covers 37 subject papers: 13 language papers, 23 domain-specific subject papers, and 1 General Aptitude Test. You can select a maximum of 5 subjects (including your language paper) when filling out the CUET 2027 application form.
Ques. What is the CUET 2027 Political Science syllabus?
Ans. The CUET 2027 Political Science syllabus covers two NCERT Class 12 textbooks. Part 1 "Politics in India Since Independence" has 9 chapters — from the era of one-party dominance to recent challenges including communalism and OBC representation. Ques. What is the marking scheme for CUET 2027?
Ans. The CUET 2027 marking scheme awards +5 marks for every correct answer and deducts −1 mark for every incorrect answer. Unattempted questions receive 0 marks. All 50 questions in every paper are compulsory — NTA removed the earlier "attempt 40 of 50" option in CUET 2026. This means every chapter in the NCERT syllabus must be covered for your chosen subjects.
Ques. Can I choose Political Science along with a Science subject in CUET?
Ans. Yes. CUET does not restrict domain subject selection by stream. You can choose any combination of domain subjects up to a total of 5 subjects (including your language paper). If your target programme requires both a Science domain score and a Political Science score, you can include both in the CUET 2027 application — provided the total count stays at 5 or fewer.
