CUET 2027 Preparation Tips

CUET 2027 Preparation Tips

A subject-wise study plan helps you cover the full CUET syllabus without gaps. The tips below are organised by section and stream type.

Arts/Humanities Domain Tips (Political Science, History, Geography)

  • Read both NCERT Class 12 Political Science textbooks word-for-word — CUET questions are often directly drawn from NCERT sentences, sub-headings, and captions.
  • Make chapter-wise notes for Political Science, with special focus on the Emergency chapter (Part 1, Chapter 6) and the full Contemporary World Politics Part 2 — these chapters carry the highest question frequency in past CUET papers.
  • For History, create visual timeline charts for each of the 15 themes — timelines help retain chronological facts for objective questions.
  • For Geography, practise map reading regularly; CUET Geography MCQs test regional identification and locational facts.
  • Solve previous year CUET papers for your chosen Arts subjects — the MCQ style, difficulty, and chapter distribution are consistent across years.

Science Domain Tips (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics)

  • Cover all NCERT Class 12 chapters for every science subject — skipping any chapter is risky since all 50 questions are compulsory.
  • For Mathematics, prioritise Calculus (Integrals and Applications of Derivatives) and Probability — these areas contribute 40–50% of questions based on CUET 2024–2026 trend analysis.
  • For Biology, draw and label diagrams for Reproduction and Biotechnology chapters — diagram-based MCQs appear frequently in CUET Biology papers.
  • For Chemistry, study Organic Chemistry reaction mechanisms in depth — NTA frames applied MCQs from Aldehydes, Amines, and Biomolecules chapters.
  • Take at least 5 full-length timed CUET subject mock tests to build the speed needed for 50 questions in 60 minutes.

Commerce Domain Tips (Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics)

  • Practise Accountancy numerical problems daily — Partnership accounts and Ratio Analysis require consistent problem-solving, not just reading.
  • Learn definitions and draw demand/supply diagrams for Economics; CUET Economics MCQs are largely conceptual and definition-based from NCERT.
  • Prepare a one-page summary of Business Studies management functions — Planning, Organising, Staffing, Directing, and Controlling appear repeatedly across CUET Business Studies papers.

General Test (GAT) Tips

  • Read a daily newspaper (The Hindu or Indian Express) without fail — Current Affairs from the past 12 months make up 25–30% of GAT questions.
  • Solve at least 20 reasoning puzzles per week — Sitting Arrangement and Coding-Decoding are the most frequently tested reasoning types in CUET GAT.
  • Revise Class 8–10 Mathematics concepts for Numerical Ability — CUET GAT does not test Class 12-level mathematics.
  • Keep a GK notebook and record one new fact each day from Nobel Prizes, Books and Authors, and national/international organisations categories.

Language Section Tips (Section I)

  • Practise reading comprehension with 1–2 full passages daily; inference and tone questions are most frequently tested in CUET language papers.
  • Revise core grammar rules for tenses, voice transformation, and sentence correction — these are the most predictable areas across all CUET language papers.
  • Build vocabulary by learning 10 new words daily using context sentences — context-based learning retains words better than dictionary definitions alone.
CUET 2027 Syllabus FAQs

CUET 2027 Syllabus FAQs

Ques. Is the CUET 2027 syllabus the same as the 2026 syllabus?

Ans. The CUET 2027 official syllabus has not been released yet (as of August 2026). It is expected with the NTA information bulletin in January 2027. CUET 2026 introduced a major revision — the number of subject papers was reduced from 63 to 37 and 15 subjects saw topic-level changes. CUET 2027 is expected to continue with the same 37-subject structure, but students must check cuet.nta.nic.in for any further changes once the 2027 bulletin releases.

Ques. How many subjects are in the CUET 2027 syllabus?

Ans. The CUET 2027 syllabus covers 37 subject papers: 13 language papers, 23 domain-specific subject papers, and 1 General Aptitude Test. You can select a maximum of 5 subjects (including your language paper) when filling out the CUET 2027 application form.

Ques. What is the CUET 2027 Political Science syllabus?

Ans. The CUET 2027 Political Science syllabus covers two NCERT Class 12 textbooks. Part 1 "Politics in India Since Independence" has 9 chapters — from the era of one-party dominance to recent challenges including communalism and OBC representation. Part 2 "Contemporary World Politics" has 7 chapters — covering the end of bipolarity, alternative power centres (EU, ASEAN, China), South Asia, international organisations, and globalisation. All 50 questions in the paper are compulsory.

Ques. Is NCERT enough for CUET 2027 preparation?

Ans. Yes, NCERT Class 12 textbooks are the primary source for all CUET 2027 domain subject papers. For Political Science, History, Biology, and Economics, NCERT alone covers the vast majority of MCQs. For the General Aptitude Test, supplement NCERT with a daily newspaper for Current Affairs and a reasoning practice book. For language papers, reading practice and grammar revision matter more than any specific textbook.

Ques. Where can I download the CUET 2027 official syllabus PDF?

Ans. The CUET 2027 official syllabus PDF will be available at cuet.nta.nic.in once NTA releases the information bulletin in January 2027. Until then, the CUET 2026 syllabus PDF from the same website is the current preparation reference. Bookmark the official website and check from January 2027 for the 2027 bulletin.

Ques. Which subject has the highest weightage in CUET?

Ans. All CUET domain subject papers carry equal marks — 50 questions for 250 marks per paper. There is no differential weightage between subjects at the paper level. Within each paper, certain chapters carry higher question frequency: for Political Science, the Emergency and Coalition Politics chapters; for Mathematics, Calculus and Probability; for Biology, Genetics and Biotechnology. NTA does not publish official chapter-wise weightage — these patterns come from previous year CUET paper analysis.

Ques. Which chapters are most important in Political Science for CUET?

Ans. Based on CUET 2024 and 2025 question trends, the most important chapters are: Crisis of the Constitutional Order (Emergency 1975–77), Democratic Upsurge and Coalition Politics, Disintegration of the Second World (USSR collapse), Globalisation and Its Critics, and South Asia in the Post-Cold War Era. Nation-Building and India’s External Relations also carry consistent question weight. No chapter should be left out — all 50 questions are compulsory.

Ques. Has the CUET syllabus been revised for 2027?

Ans. NTA has not released the CUET 2027 syllabus as of August 2026. The most recent revision was for CUET 2026, when 15 of 37 subjects saw topic-level additions or removals across History, Economics, Business Studies, Computer Science, and Physical Education. Any CUET 2027 revision details will be announced with the January 2027 notification. Do not assume changes until the 2027 information bulletin is published.

Ques. What books should I use for Political Science in CUET?

Ans. The essential books are: (1) NCERT Class 12 "Politics in India Since Independence" — mandatory primary source; (2) NCERT Class 12 "Contemporary World Politics" — mandatory primary source; (3) Oswaal CUET Political Science Practice Papers — for chapter-wise MCQ practice with previous year questions and explanations. Do not rely on coaching notes or reference books beyond NCERT for the domain subject paper.

Ques. How should I cover the full CUET 2027 syllabus in 6 months?

Ans. Divide preparation into three phases. In Phase 1 (Months 1–2), complete NCERT reading for all chosen domain subjects and make concise chapter-wise notes. In Phase 2 (Months 3–4), solve chapter-wise MCQ practice sets, identify weak chapters, and begin GAT preparation with reasoning puzzles and GK revision. In Phase 3 (Months 5–6), take full-length timed mock tests, revise notes, and track daily current affairs for GAT. A consistent 4–5 hours of daily focused study is sufficient for full syllabus coverage.

Ques. What is the marking scheme for CUET 2027?

Ans. The CUET 2027 marking scheme awards +5 marks for every correct answer and deducts −1 mark for every incorrect answer. Unattempted questions receive 0 marks. All 50 questions in every paper are compulsory — NTA removed the earlier "attempt 40 of 50" option in CUET 2026. This means every chapter in the NCERT syllabus must be covered for your chosen subjects.

Ques. Can I choose Political Science along with a Science subject in CUET?

Ans. Yes. CUET does not restrict domain subject selection by stream. You can choose any combination of domain subjects up to a total of 5 subjects (including your language paper). If your target programme requires both a Science domain score and a Political Science score, you can include both in the CUET 2027 application — provided the total count stays at 5 or fewer.

*The article might have information for the previous academic years, which will be updated soon subject to the notification issued by the University/College.
