CBSE Class 12 English Syllabus has been released for the academic year 2024-25. You can download the full syllabus from the official website, cbseacademic.nic. TheCBSE English Syllabus Class 12 2023-24 is divided into three sections – A, B, and C. Section A is for reading skills, section B for writing skills and section C covers the literature portion. For the literature section, students have to prepare from two books prescribed by CBSE – Flamingo and Vistas.

In the CBSE Class 12 English Syllabus, Section B carries 18 marks, which include Notice, Invitation, Letter Writing, and Article Writing. Topics based on Education, Social Issues, Technology, Sports, and Environment are commonly asked in the Writing Section of the English paper. Section A: Reading Skills

CBSE Class 12 English Syllabus Section A includes questions based on reading comprehension through unseen passages. This section will include MCQs, objective-type questions, and short answer-type questions.

  • Passage I will assess comprehension, interpretation, analysis, and inference. The passage can be factual, descriptive, or literary.
  • Passage II will be a case-based factual passage containing statistical data, charts, etc.

Section B: Creative Writing Skills

This section will include the following questions:

  • Notice: Students have to attempt only one out of the two questions.
  • Formal/Informal Invitation and Reply: Attempt any one out of the two questions.
  • Letters: Letters including an application for a job with biodata or a resume and a letter to the editor. Only one question has to be attempted.
  • Article/Report Writing: Write a descriptive and analytical article or report in around 120-150 words. Attempt only one out of the two questions.
