IIT Kharagpur Reviews on Placements, Faculty and Facilities

IITs are known for their placements, and this is exactly where they shine as compared to other colleges. From 7th semester onwards, the placements begin and is conducted by the CDC (Career development centre) in two phases. The highest package was around 2.5 Cr, with the average being around 22 lpa. Top recruiting companies include Google, Microsoft, Optiver, other HFTs which accounted for most of the highest packages offered. Around 75% of the students got placed during the 2025-2026 placement season.

Placement process in IIT KGP is well designed and functioned every year placements are done.Generally from seventh semester placement process is started for student and every student is eligible in campus placements as per requirements of company and according to their demand students are selected for final process of interview. Multiple company visit the campus annually and some companies visits campus are Microsoft,Google,Apple,Amazon,Infosys,Tata,Mahindra,Reliance and many hundreds of company more. No. of offers made depends on requirement of company. percentage of students selected for placement vary every year but appr. 70% studenst get placemets and rest apply for off campus placements as per their interest. avg. package of IIT KGP is 19,00,000. highest package is 3,65,00,000.

Placmenets in iit kgp is quite good and high compared to other iits or other engineering colleges many companies visit our college and mostly reputed compaines like amazon microsoft and honeywell comes and many students got selected through the college placement. 80% of the students are getting placed through off campus and on campus

The placement situation at IIT KGP is one of th e best among Engineering Colleges in India. With an average package of around 2200000 and overall placement percentage of around 80 (B.Tech+M.Tech). Students become eligible for placement either if they get PPO(Pre Placement Offer) from the company they are interning in in the 5th semester or when they are in the 7th semester when placement season begins. Around 1800 offers and 400 PPOs were made in phase 1 which includes 25 international offers. There were around 400 companies that visited. The highest offer was 21400000. Top profiles are Software, Data, Finance, Consulting, Quant and Core.

Placements depends on your skills Usually there is a compulsory internship at the end of 3rd year If you didnt get it via college you should do it from outside but its compulsory And at the end of 4th year you get placement. Placemeng isnt 100% . If you have the skill you will get placed thats the criteria.many people say you are in IIT your life is sorted .but that aint the reality

The students can apply for internship via Career Development Centre in the beginning of their pre final Year. they can go for off campus intern whenever they want. Most of the goo companies would come and mostly for software finance consulting etc. The placements start in the second last semester as far as i know. The competition for placement is getting really high these days

Approximately all the students in our college will get placed. Many big companies will come to our college for taking students. Students frkm tge 7th semester are eligible to sit for the placements. Thjs year the highest package of our college is 2.4crores and approximately 1700 students got placed. Average package for this year is 15-20 lpa. I want to get placed in finance sector. I didnt get a placement yeat as i am still in my 2nd year.

The Students here can apply for CDC Placements in Final Year and if I tell about B.Tech. Specifically then in 7th Semester of their course. Many prominent companies visit here for recruiting the brilliant minds like Google, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Intel, Qualcomm, Samsung, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Barclays, IBM, Texas Instruments, Tata Steel, L&T, Bajaj Auto, Flipkart, American Express, Infosys, Wipro, PwC....and many more. There isn't any data provided by our institute to us stating of the highest and average package by particular comapanies and the profiles offered. But I can tell you of my department's 2023-24 CDC Placement drive: We had the highest no. of offers that is 128. Highest offer made was 1.4Cr INR pa and Median and average package offered were 21-22 lakhs pa and 25-26 lakhs pa respectively. almost 87% students had got placed in the last placement season. The 2024-25 Placement season isn't over now, but till Dec 2 2024, again we had the highest no. of offers that is 20. If I talk about my future plans, I want to go into reasearch in VLSI Industry in future as the VLSI is Tech of the future.

Placement opportunities are overall good, students can apply for the placement form 5th and 6th semester and can get PPOs's companies like Microsoft, google, amazon comes during the placement season and every year, so many students get placed even with a package greater than 2cr INR. The average package is around 18 Lakhs.

From Pharma Companies to research laboratories and FMGC conpanies like Britannia, ITC, HUL ane various others need chemical engineers. So, when such hige corporate groups ink a deal with IIT KGP students its no less than 1 lakh per month as in some cases its even higher too. Placements are nearly 100% as its IIT KGP.
