IIT KGP review by a Kgpian.

I am personally very interested in civil engineering. So i chose this stream as my career path. The curriculum is very well planned with all the courses related to the field of civil engineerinh which helps in solving real field pplications and problems. For practical knowledge we are also havinv labs where we use tge real machines like UTM, shake table for earthquake detection, soil labs, hydraulic labs etc. Semester lasts for 4 months with mids conducted in tge last week of 2nd month and ends conducted after 4 months. So these exam timing is also good.

Approximately all the students in our college will get placed. Many big companies will come to our college for taking students. Students frkm tge 7th semester are eligible to sit for the placements. Thjs year the highest package of our college is 2.4crores and approximately 1700 students got placed. Average package for this year is 15-20 lpa. I want to get placed in finance sector. I didnt get a placement yeat as i am still in my 2nd year.

The fees for a semester is approximately 1.56lakh. This consists of a tution fee of 1 lakh and all other hostel, mess, exam, lab fee combinedly totald other 56000/- . This fee is approximately same for all the branches. The total fee per year will be approximately 3 lakhs including every aspect. SCHOLARSHIP: If none of your parents works in givernment sector and your parenta total yealy income lies less than one lakh rupees, tgen you will get a scholarship amount of 1 lakh rupees for your tution fee into your college account every semester. If your income lies between 1 lakh to 3 lakhs, tgen you need to pay 33000 from tge tution fees and tge remaininv amoung will be given by government. You will get a scholarship of 66000 per semester. If you annual income lies between 3 to 5 laks, you will get 33000 scholarship per semester from the government.

My campus life is very good and exciting. I am a member of two societies in my college. I am also enjoying in the fests. In our college, shauya fest is sports fest. Kshitij is the technology fest where many activities are conducted. Spring fest is the most awaited cultural fest. All these fests take place in january one after the other. Each fest laats for three days in the weekend. All the festivals are also celebrated veey grandly by the cultural societies. There are nearly 20-30 student run organisations where we get a chance to improve our skills and improve ouselves. We can play any sport we want. All the facilities for sports are also provided. Competetions are also held every year to encourage.

Hostles are also good. We get electricity, hot and cold water, free college every where in the campus. We have guest houses for accomodation of parents or any relatives. It is paid and should be booked. Food quality in mess is good but not so good same like all the hostels. We get breakfast, lunch, snacks amd dinner. We will have special dinner every month with dj arrangement for students. Hostel fees including mess fees will be approxinately 40000 per semester. It is affordable.

I chose IIT kharagpur because IITs are the top colleges in india whereas my college IIT kharagpur is ranked 4 in India among all the other IITs. It is the first IIT established in our country. It carries its legacy and pride forever. We get the best education here and good placements. One can enter this college through josaa councelling. We need to qualify jee mains and then jee advanced exams. After coincelling, we get the college according to our rank. I applied for both IIT madras and IIT kharagpur. But i couldnt make it to IIT madras beacuse of my rank. But i am happy that i got IIT kharagpur. Both are my preferred colleges.

Faculty to student ratio is good. The faculty are very friendly and they claridies each and every doubt of students. My favourite professor is Nirjhar dhang sir amd Amit shaw sir. Their explanation during the class is really awesome. They are veey friendly with all the students. There are no such faculty that i dont like. Everyone is really nice. We have two class tests, one mid term exma and end exams. The marking is based on our performance in both mids 30% and ends 50% including 10%for attendance amd 10% for both classtests. The papers are sometimes difficult and mostly moderate. The one who studies and attends the classes can easily write tge exams. Of course there are some people who fail but bot many.

Nightlife of our campus is the bestpart. There are no in and out timings for hostels. We can go out whenever we want. There are many night canteens, hotles, restaurants and cafes which opens all over the night. Library is open till 12 am. There is nothing outside the campus to roam. But we can enjoy so much inaide the campus. There is nehru museum, adda, Nalanda, technolgy park, lake view, swimming pool, gymkhana to hangout. In the mornjng we can go to helipad where we get a beautiful sunrise view. It is the best sunrise view point.
