- Since last year IIT KGP has organized a global entrepreneurship summit and nearly 12 students recieved grants from them.
- The brand value or the label that IIT Kgp carries is next level as getting job or funding becomes quite easy.
- Many self defence programs and techniques are taught to girls and its an initiative led by the male students itself.
Dislikes
- Hostel rooms are not that good as some tables and chairs have been broken and even after making enough complaints, things dont change here.
- Such a huge campus that not having a vehicle means commuting inside also gets so tough at times.
Course Curriculum Overview
Our course is promising and yet i agree aint that popular. Its a new looking course build entirely towards how the industry want them to be. So, it is trimmed and designed accordingly. Our practicals have shown how can we apply accordingly. So, a course which is tough but certainly need of the hour is why i have opted for this course.
Placement Experience
Nearly or almost 100% students get placed from IIT KGP, irrespective of their branch. This is the beauty about it. Four our course conpanies like the Adani Enterprises, Coal India, Ongc, Aban Offshore and others are our top recruiting companies as all of them are into mining business. Data mining is also been taught to us, so hopefully we might stand eligible to participate in IT companies too.
Fees and Financial Aid
IIT KGP is the onlh college that has these many branches. Jharkhand anr Orissa are mining states of India and therefore strategically too IIT Kgp becomes an out and out choice. The feed is 3.5 lakhs a year and even the lower caste students gets just 20% scholarships. Merit and sports based scholarships are also there and that again is something which is something not meant for average students like me.
Campus Life
Our annual fest Spring Fest trends on social media. Our tech fest Khsitij has seen the highest participation among all the tech fests of country. So likewise our sports fest and every departmental fests too are over the top. Even traditional days and all celebrated as festivals over here. A twinning day too has been started. Our campus is spread in over 2000 acres of land which has greenery and all in abundance. Sports facilities and all are God level too and thats the reason why our college has some top level atheletes who performs at the university level.
Hostel Facilities
There are around 12 boys hostels and I stay in Nehru Hall of Residence which has around 130 rooms and all are two seater rooms. Hostle is good as we have a common area on all floors and also a basketball court is nearby. Food is average on some days and exceptional on some days so a mix but still no complains when it comes to food.
Admission
I have applied for Jee Mains and that is how i got admissions here. IIT KGP is first choice for over 5 lakh aspirants and only a few can get here. So, forget about if i had a single question where i needed any other colleges. I wanted IIT KGP at first and i am lucky enough that my hard work has paid off.
Faculty
Yes, with faculties it is sometimes a topsy turvey period but they are the ones because of whom students here have flourished. Faculties have assmebled themselves to become our guiding force and are never short when it comes to pushing us. So, all in all, if students of IIT KGP has had a great tun, its all because of the faculties that we have here.
Night Life
Lake Park and Hijli Ecopark are the main attractions for us. Nehru Museum of Science and Technology is also a must visit. Bhimbandh Wild Life Sactuary and finay the Kharagpur Lake are among places to explore. Coming to cafes and all they are also plenty but PFC is one and only which is everyones favourites.
