Likes

The professors are highly qualified, many with international research exposure.
IIT Kharagpur offers a vibrant campus life with cultural, technical, and sports fests throughout the year.
The campus is huge and well-equipped, with excellent library access, Wi-Fi, departmental labs, gym, swimming pool, and multiple sports facilities.

Dislikes

The girls to boys ratio is around 1:8 in M.Tech courses, creating a visible gender imbalance.
the mess food becomes monotonous and lacks nutritional variety. Most hostels rely heavily on potatoes and chana (chickpeas)
Placement services are strong for core engineering branches, but options in non-core areas like data science, policy

Course Curriculum Overview

I would rate the course curriculum at IIT Kharagpur as highly relevant and moderately comprehensive. One key reason I chose the M.Tech in Earth System Science and technology is very nature related and scientific.

Internships Opportunities

There will be separate cell called CDC, where jobs and internships opportunities are available. So irrespective of your branch almost everyone can participate in every offer (keep in mind it's almost not 100%)

Placement Experience

There are wonderful placements going on in our college. The person with good talent will for sure get job here. Even they may become wonderful entrepreneurs. Minimum package will be 6LPA and average will be 20LPA.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees are also highly subsidised for students, especially for those belonging to economically weaker sections, Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and other backwards classes (OBC). For SC ST students fee may be 40,000 to 50,000 per semister and Overall, the approximate fee paid per semester by a general or OBC student comes to 50,000 to 55,000 per semister.

Campus Life

There are several things to be experienced here. Joining B.Tech here will be helpful to explore eachpart of the campus and each thing. M.Tech will be short enough to experience. Anyway there are several clubs in Gymkhana.

Admission

I applied for all IITs in India but I chose this IIT Kharagpur because this is the 1st IIT in our India and very large campus in area wise. To get seat here we need to qualify GATE for M.Tech and need JEE Advance to B.Tech.

Faculty

The faculty at IIT Kharagpur is highly qualified and experienced, with most holding PhDs from top Indian and international institutions. The faculty-to-student ratio in M.Tech programs is generally healthy, around 1:10 to 1:15,

Night Life

You can roam within the radius of hostels anytime. But there will be some places where bushes and forest like environment so they don't allow there during nights. You will also get night canteens which run from 8PM to morning 3AM.

M.Tech in IIT KGP - What you need to know.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario in IIT KGP is great if you're a B.Tech student. For M.Tech the placements are good but only in other departments like ME, CSE and CHE. Mostly students pursue research after M.Tech.

A student's perspective.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course structure is quite good. Only need the guidance which course is good of us. Syllabus is quite lengthy. I think theoretical knowledge is good but need of some practical knowledge is required. Laboratory work should be divided so that each students experience the best.

Placement Experience:

At the end of 3rd semester, students become eligible for campus placements. 1000 of company visit campus every year in January and December month. Placement takes place in two form one in December and other in January. Like IBM, puma, ICC bank, Deloitte, ABG, Lenovo, etc. highest package is about 2.68 crore per annum, average 15lpa According to different profiles. Students should have more than 8.5 cgpa for good placements. I will join a good company after completing the degree.

Remarks:

Get admission for only getting degree don't expect much. Every 2 years alumni meeting happens in our college you can find some help from old students but don't expect much from this college. After completing no one will provide job.

Other colleges I applied for is IIT Delhi because it is nearer to my home and is well reputed college and have a great field in Tech.I opt this college because I am interested in Tech field. I finally chose IIT KGP beacuse it is providing me better branch than IIT Delhi and I got interested in this college beacuse my teacher in myh senior schoo is also from IIT KGP they taught me a lot of stories of there college time and I talked to some seniors of college for admissionb regarding prespective so they advised for IIT KGP.Therefore I chose IIT KGP over IIT Delhi.
