Campus life at IIT KGP

IIT Kharagpur provides best internship oppostunites even if you are not from cse department you can get internship in IT sectors if you have the required skills. research internships are also easily available.

Placement opportunities are overall good, students can apply for the placement form 5th and 6th semester and can get PPOs's companies like Microsoft, google, amazon comes during the placement season and every year, so many students get placed even with a package greater than 2cr INR. The average package is around 18 Lakhs.

IIT Kharagpur follows a semester wise system and the semester fee is around INR 152000/- Sometimes the total fee depends of the Hall budget that keeps Changing and varies from Hall to Hall. If i break down the overall fee stucture then we pay a tution fee for INR 100000 and around 14000 as mess charges and 32000 for Hostels in every semester. Institute provides tution fee wavier for SC/ST and students with less income. institute also provides financial suppport through various scholarship.

Overall campus life at IIT KGP is amazing you get to explore so many things inside the campus. with three big sports ground campus provieds a great opportunity for sports. IIT KGP organises Spring fest as its socio cultural fest, Kshitij as Tech fest and Shaurya as sports fest anually. Central Library is easily accessible through offline and online mode and remains open 24/7 during exam. projectors and PC's are installed inside the classrooms. variety of societies, clubs and cells are here at IIT KGP and you can get engaged as per your intrest.

IIT KGP has around 25 Hostels called as Hall and hostel life varies depending upon which hall you get. in the first year you have to live in four sharing rooms for girls and triple sharing room for boys in every room you get a almirah, chair study table and a bed. Overall mess food is good but it depends on hall some halls provide reall good quality of food specially girls hall but in some halls mess food in not so good. overall IIT KGP is pretty affordable in comparision to other institutes.

I chose IIT KGp over all the other colleges i applied for because of it's academic reputation, big campus placement opportunites and good infrastructure. i was getting a confirmed addmission in DU but they were not providing any hostel facilities and IITKGP provides really strong security without any restriction and gives equal opportunities for both boys and girls.

The faculty to student ratio is 18:1 and the faculty memmbers are very much approachable offline as well as online. i can't name one faculty here as all are so good in their respective field but sometime they accelarate the course just to meet the deadline. The exam level is moderate to difficult with a total of 4 exams per year and if you have attended all the lectures and have done revision then it's quite easy to score good.

As the campus is Located very far from the city you are not going to find anything intresting outside but all the required facilities are available inside the campus, there is no restriction reagrding times both for boys and girls. Library remains open from 8AM to 11:55PM everyday and during exams it operates 24/7. Night canteens are available in almost every halls.
