What Students Say
Likes
- The teaching quality of all the faculties were top notch. Practical sessions were interactive and understandable.
- Mentors were provided and every month mentor-mentee meeting were held where we used to share our feedbacks. Mentors also gave us support and guidance throughout the course
- The campus is really beautiful and greenery with tall trees. Its really interactive and entertaining.
Dislikes
- This year placements were not so good. The percentage is very low this time. We expected that highly reputed companies will come this year but it was below our expectations.
- Skill development is very necessary in our field (especially for cse students). This lacks in our college. Proper classes and grooming were not done and as a result placement ratio was very low.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure was good. It includes all related subjects for this course I would like to prefer to say that not to include Physics in 1st semester as it is not related to our field we chose, but apart from it the overall structure is good. The core subjects starts from third year which I think it well prepares for real world applications or further academic pursuits. The exams were held specifically as per the timings which were given by the college. Our university and college are very strict with exams.
Placement Experience
From Third semester, the students become eligible for campus placements. The companies like P360, EY, Deloitte, Tech Mahindra, Neutanix, BinaryWorks and few more visited our college for placements and mostly 15 to 20 offers were made Highest package was around 5 to 6 lpa 50% students were placed I am now preparing for govt jobs and side by side also applying for offcampuses. I have also given CUET for pursuing M. Tech
Fees and Financial Aid
The course fee for 4 years of B. Tech in SIT was 4 Lakhs (50K per semester and there were 8 semesters in total). As I was a Local Student, so i did not had to pay for tution fees or caution fees. There was a minimal amount for registration. My batchmates were all in General category, so they paid the same amount which I paid. And I haven't opted for any Scholarships or financial aid.
Campus Life
Tech fest were held every year where every students showcased their talents in the event. Annual fest also held every year. The library access was also there but books were low quality and back dated. We used to buy Organisers for exam preparations. Library books didn't helped a lot. Sports were also organised mainly football and cricket. Yes there was a club called "computers engineers society" Where many events like quiz, coding events were organised.
Admission
I didn't apply to any other colleges. I gave an entrance exam and according to my rank I choose this college. As I am a local resident, this college best suits me and its also situated in my home town Admission process starts by counselling sessions. Yes if you have obtained a good percentile in class 10 and 12, then they would give a high priority. As this college is located in West Bengal so WBJEE is prefered and most students opted for this exam
Faculty
The faculties of this college were good according to my opinion. The teaching methods were best. The teacher to student relationship was also interactive and entertaining. It was fun mostly during practical sessions, like they used to teach us not like a teacher but make it more interesting and entertaining. Our DSA expert Mrs Sucharita maam was awesome. She was a good teacher. Her teaching methods were excellent and we understood her classes very clearly, but she was also strict which was good in another way. In practical we were fond of Mainak Sir. He was a lab assistant and was fun and interactive. If we had any doubt in our code or facing any difficulties in running our code, he used to solve like its a piece of cake for him. He was also excellent teacher. There were 8 semesters in our course and difficulty of every papers were easy to moderate. Our university was Makaut who was little bit strict in paper checking. The passing failure ratio was 50:50. I failed in one paper in 6th semester but I have to pay Rs 200 for review and luckily got passed.
Night Life
There are two canteens mainly in our campus where food quality is very good. As i am a local student so i can't say much about the hostel but there were many pgs and hostels available near the college. Gym is also there but its not so good, not well equipments were there. As the college is located near the hill stations so there were many cool places to visit like Darjeeling, Sukna Forest, Rongtong, Kurseong and many more
